Abstract
The invention relates to an improved aromatic paper mosquito repellant which does not catch fire but smolders and burns uniformly and constantly, repels mosquitoes retaining the aroma for a longer period of time. The improved aromatic paper mosquito repellant which comprises a paper stick / straw/coil and any other desired shape having a coating of a composition comprising of an aqueous solution of potassium nitrate (salitre) chromium nitrate, lead nitrate, ammonium ceric nitrate, copper nitrate, sodium nitrate iron nitrate, the nitrates being present alone or in their combination thereof, desired water soluble perfumery compound/water insoluble perfumery compound, an anti fungus agent and allithrin. The invention also provides a method of making the aromatic paper mosquito repellant.
Description
Aromatic Paper Mosquito Repellant and Method of Preparing It
• Field of the invention: The present invention relates to an aromatic paper mosquito repellant and a method of preparing it. The Aromatic Paper Mosquito Repellant of the present invention is useful to repel mosquitoes, flies and emit aroma when burnt. The aromatic paper mosquito repellant of the present invention does not leave behind any harmful residue in the atmosphere. Hence the aromatic paper mosquito repellant of the present invention is environmentally safe. In addition the aromatic mosquito repellant of the present invention gives good and more identified perfumery smell which is likable by the consumer. Further more, the aromatic mosquito repellant of the present invention can be made available in different attractive shapes and colours.
• Background of the invention: Presently available mosquito repellants (Coils) emit a lot of smoke when burnt which causes cough and irritation to eyes and nose with negligible perfumery effect. Such mosquito repellants are made of wood materials and they often produce a lot of black smoke and tar during burning as a result of the water moisture and oil contents present in the wood. The currently available mosquito repellants contain carbon and hence the burning of the mosquito repellants emits carbon into the atmosphere. The mosquito repellants available presently being made of wood powder amongst others which, when burnt, also releases carbon.
The estimated percentage of mosquito repellant growth in the country has increased by about 25%. Year by year the population is increasing and hence the usage of mosquito repellants have also enhanced considerably.
• Prior art
To the best of our knowledge there is no prior art relating to mosquito repellants made of paper and paper related product. The prior art which is relevant to the present invention are mosquito repellants which are made of wood. Mosquito repellants are made from various wood which is powdered and used. It is then smeared with charcoal, Allethrin, fragrant substances of desired fragrance in a tiny percentage (which will not be identified) such as Natural Flavours like Jasmin, Sandal, Rose and Champa etc. cosmetic Notes such as Chariot, Bouquet etc. When Tit, the stick smolders and releases the fragrance of the aromatic oil. One of the process known in the prior art for making mosquito repellants is described below
The combination of charcoal, binding power (zigat), odourless wood powder are used to prepare a paste along with water. This paste will be moulded as a Coil shape by using a machine and it will be dried in the sun or with an electrical heater. ,■ Presently, due to strict rules made by the government in the forest field, in most of the States, there is non availability of materials such as wood . The demand for the repellants has enhanced considerably. These two aspects in combination have enhanced the prices of the repellants thereby makes it prohibitive for common man .
Since, , the percentage of mosquito repellants sales is increasing by approximately 25% YOY and also since the urban population is increasing day by day, simultaneously usage of mosquito repellants is also growing year after year. Therefore, if a mosquito repellent is made available not employing the usual wood, which is cheaper , effective and affordable for a common man , it would be beneficial
• Objectives of the present invention
Therefore, the main objective of the present invention is to provide improved aromatic paper mosquito repellants which does not employ any forest products like charcoal and other aromatic woods. Another objective of the present invention is to provide improved aromatic paper mosquito repellants which maintains the aroma for a longer period of time.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide improved aromatic paper mosquito repellants which does not produce much smoke or tar during burning and hence is environmentally friendly. Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide improved aromatic mosquito repellants which when burnt will not affect the climatic conditions as it will not leave behind any toxic substances nor emit toxic gases into the atmosphere.
Still another objective of the present invention is to provide improved aromatic mosquito repellants which is economical and user & environmentally friendly. Another objective of the present invention is to provide a method of making improved aromatic paper mosquito repellants which produces aroma that lasts for a long period of time.
Usually, paper when lighted, catches flame and burns. But we have observed due to our sustained R & D, that when certain types of nitrates alone or in their combination when mixed with perfumes, essential oils and allithrin is used for coating paper to form the repellant, in the resulting repellant, the paper does not catch fire and burns but surprisingly smolders (meaning that the paper burns but without flame). The burning and through is also uniform and constant. When the paper mosquito repellants releases the allithrin and aroma of the perfume used, the aroma lasts for a long period of time with allithrin.
