Abstract
A method for dispersing a sample of entities which are prone to agglomeration comprises the steps of (i) sonicating said entities to disperse them temporarily, and (ii) attaching polar moieties to said entities in order to prolong the dispersal. Apparatus for sonicating a sample comprises a container for the sample and a source of sonic waves, wherein the dimensions of the container are selected to maximise the efficiency of the sonication.
