Abstract

The present invention relates to a reciprocating compressor, comprising: a housing; front and rear cylinder blocks, in which a plurality of cylinder bores are formed and which are coupled to the housing; pistons accommodated in the respective cylinder bores such that the pistons are reciprocatingly movable; suction ports formed at least on one side of both the front and rear cylinder block; suction mufflers which are connected to the suction ports, and formed at least on one side of both the front and rear cylinder block; and first suction passages for interconnecting the suction mufflers and swash plate chambers formed in the front and rear cylinder blocks. Thus, pulsation caused by a refrigerant being sucked and discharged can be suppressed as much as possible using the suction mufflers and discharge mufflers arranged at the front and rear cylinder blocks, as well as the first and second suction passages, thereby reducing noise and vibration.
