Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de sélectionner le meilleur canal d'un réseau sans fil de communication de données à tout moment pendant le fonctionnement normal du réseau. Le réseau peut être un réseau conforme à la norme IEEE 802.11. Le balayage de canal peut être effectué dans toute station du réseau sans fil, telle qu'un point d'accès (AP) ou qu'une station mobile ou les deux. Le balayage de canal peut être effectué pendant un temps mort de la communication de données ou en même temps que la communication de données sur le réseau. La technique peut être mise en œuvre dans un système de communication à entrées multiples et sorties multiples (MIMO) dans lequel l'antenne ou les antennes utilisées pour le balayage de canal peuvent être sélectionnées dynamiquement en cours de fonctionnement, pour optimiser une ou plusieurs caractéristiques de performance.
