Abstract

Realization process and polymer matrix with a periodic structure inside a cell composed of two glass substrates formed by polymeric walls alternated with empty channels carved by using a photo polymerization process, said structure being used as template to induce alignment of organic materials and/or biological with self- organising properties, wherein: f) A periodic structure formed by a grating presenting polymeric walls alternated with liquid crystals films in nematic phase, is realized, said periodic structure presenting a uniform and regular morphology obtained by making use of an optical holographic setup with an active control of the interference pattern stability; g) The grating is immersed in an ultrasonicated solvent, that presents a viscosity less than 0.7 g/cm3 and a high boiling point higher than 70 0C without removing any of the two glass substrates; h) Such solvent diffuses in the glass cell by means of capillary force and exercise a selective chemical etching, said etching leaves unchanged form and stability of polymeric walls; i) Said etching process removes the nematic liquid crystal confined between polymeric walls and the residual non-polymerized materials, the final system being a periodic structure of polymer walls alternated to empty channels; the entire process is conducted at a temperature higher than 60 0C in order to reduce viscosity of liquid crystal and to facilitate its expulsion; j) the structure is filled with organic or biological materials which have self- organization properties or with systems which show long range orientational order.
