Description
INK CARTRIDGE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink cartridge, especially to an ink cartridge with an external ink discharge tube supplying ink to an ink-jet printer. This application is based on the Chinese Patent Application No. 200910306926.2 filed on September 12, 2009, which is incorporated by reference herein.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The current ink cartridge mainly comprises a container including an accommodating chamber for accommodating ink therein and an ink supply port for supplying ink to an ink-jet printer. The ink supply port is provided on the bottom of the chamber. Thus, ink supply often depends on its own penetration and gravity. When the ink cartridge is mounted in the carriage of the printer, it will have a horizontal reciprocating movement perpendicular to the ink supply port, which may generate bubbles in the chamber. If the bubbles enter to the ink supply port, it will increase the resistance and form an abnormal ink supply, even block the ink flow. At this situation, print head will be damaged as its increasing sucking pressure.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide an ink cartridge having a simple structure and supplying ink constantly and smoothly.
In order to achieve the above mentioned object, the present solution provides an ink cartridge including a container with an accommodating chamber containing ink therein, an ink supply port provided on the container, and an external ink discharge tube communicated with said accommodating chamber through the ink supply port.
The present solution comprises an external ink discharge tube connected with the ink supply port to supply ink instead of directly through the ink supply port. It will effectively avoid the bubbles entering into the print head, which can prevent the abnormal ink supply and damage of the print head.
The above mentioned solution further comprises the following features. The centerline of the ink supply port lies in a direction perpendicular to the inserting direction of the ink cartridge, and the centerline of said external ink discharge tube lies in a direction parallel to the inserting direction of the ink cartridge. Such arrangement can be more effective to prevent bubbles entering into the ink discharge tube. Therefore, ink supply can be constant and smooth.
The above mentioned solution further comprises the following features. At least a first ink supply port is provided on the side wall closed to the bottom wall of said container, and it communicates with a lower position of the external ink discharge tube though a first pipe. At least a second ink supply port is provided higher than the first ink supply port, and it communicates with a higher position of the external ink discharge tube by a second pipe. Even a small amount of bubbles enter into the external ink discharge tube, it will return to the chamber through the second pipe and the second ink supply port. Such structure will form a more reliable protection and ink supply can be more constant and smooth.
The above mentioned solution further comprises the following features. A concave area is formed by the outer surface of the container to accommodate the external ink discharge tube. A fixed portion is provided opposite to the ink supply port. A supporting plate is supported by the fixed portion. A chip with specific ink the information is provided on the supporting plate by a removable structure. To ensure a good cooperation between the ink cartridge and the carriage of the printer, the fixed portion can strengthen the supporting plate and ensure the stable contact between the electrodes on the chip and the electrodes on the printer.
The present invention provides another solution. A container with an accommodating chamber contains ink therein. An ink supply port is provided on the container for supply ink from the accommodating chamber to outside. An external ink discharge tube is connected with the container and communicated with the chamber through the ink supply port. The ink supply port includes a first ink supply port and a second ink supply port. The first ink supply port is provided on a sidewall close to the bottom wall of the container, and the second ink supply port is provided
on a sidewall higher than the first ink supply port.
The above mentioned solution further comprises the following features. A supporting plate for mounting a chip is fixed by a fixed portion which is opposite to the ink supply port. The main surface of the supporting plate is parallel to the centerline of the ink discharge tube. The fixed portion comprises two fixed parts, a chip with specific ink the information is provided on the supporting plate by a removable structure. The fixed portion can strengthen the supporting plate and ensure the stable contact between the electrodes on the chip and the electrodes on the printer.
The above mentioned solution further comprises the following features. The first ink supply port communicates with a lower position of said external ink discharge tube and the second ink supply port communicates with a higher position of said external ink discharge tube. A concave area is formed by the outer surface of the container to accommodate the external ink discharge tube. This design can ensure the ink cartridge with a suitable shape fitting into the carriage of the printer.
