Abstract

Methods to modulate the microbiota for the improvement of health using host and host-derived factors have been developed. Compositions for the modulation of the microbiota for the improvement of health comprising host and host-derived factors are also described. In particular, methods for identifying or compositions comprising host and host-derived compositions that are present in the healthy host environment and that normally select for or support the growth of beneficial commensal microbes are described.
