Abstract
The present invention relates to a material to be used as impact absorber in decoration, insulation, and especially automotive sectors. The material of the invention is obtained by lamination of carpet, felt, fabric, sheet, wood etc. thermoplastic coating products on the enlarged polypropylene foam (EPP), which, is brought to its final form in the most basic state before usage, via pressing method at high temperature and at desired thickness.
Description
AN IMPACT ABSORBER MATERIAL
The Related Art
The present invention relates to a material to be used as impact absorber in decoration, insulation, and especially automotive sectors.
The Prior Art
In the known status of the art, various decoration materials are used especially for vehicles.
In the United States patent application with no US2009072446, a coating is disclosed in which the airbags used for safety purposes in vehicles is placed. The said coating is obtained by lamination of thermoplastic olefin (TPO) derivatives on the hard and foam polypropylene which has the desired thickness.
Another known application is the subject of the United States patent application with no US2004009319. In the said application, a roof insulation material is disclosed as having high reflection feature and being formed of thermoplastic, elastomeric, and thermoplastic olefin layers.
In the German patent application with no DE19643563, a sun shield for vehicles is described, which is obtained by coating of polypropylene and thermoplastic olefin (TPO) layer with textile products and then vacuuming thereof.
However, plastic materials presently used for interior views of vehicles do not have shock absorber property, increase the weight of the vehicle due to their heavy weight, and in parallel to that, increase the fuel consumption and CO2 emission of the vehicle. Moreover, supportive materials and chemicals used for providing shock absorber property to the said plastic parts substantially increase the production cost.
Brief Description of the Invention
Purpose of the present invention is to obtain a material, which is lighter, more durable, and more long-lasting than the presently used similar materials, and which can be used as shock absorber in decoration, insulation, and especially automotive sector.
Another purpose of the present invention is to obtain a material, which has low production cost and therefore which is economical.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The material formed in order to achieve the purposes of this invention is shown in the attached figure, and among the figures;
Figure-1 : is the schematic front view of this material.
The parts found in the figure are individually enumerated and the names of these parts are as follows:
1. Material
2. Foam
3. Coating
The material (1) of the invention is obtained by lamination of carpet, felt, fabric, sheet, wood etc. thermoplastic coating (3) products on the enlarged polypropylene foam (EPP) (2), which, is brought to its final form in the most basic state before usage, via pressing method at high temperature and at desired thickness.
In lamination of carpet, felt etc. thick coating (3) products, a film layer is placed between the foam (2) and the coating (3), pressing is conducted for 2 minutes at temperatures between 140-150 degrees and thus adherence of the foam (2) and the coating (3) to each other is provided by melting of the film layer, and then the final form of the material (1) is obtained by leaving it to cooling. The said film is chosen from polypropylene, polyethylene, thermoplastic olefin, or derivatives of these.
The above said film layer is not needed for coating (3) with fabric, sheet etc. thin materials and the material (1 ) of the invention is obtained by conducting pressing at 125-140 degrees on the foam (2).
Except vehicle interior decoration, the material (1) of the invention can be used at astro pitches and with the purpose of insulation.
The material (1 ) of the invention has higher shock absorber property and is lighter than the plastic products used in the prior art. Its production cost is low and any supportive product or chemical is not used during production.
On this basic concept, development of various applications for the material (1) of the invention is possible and the invention can not be limited to the examples disclosed here.
