Abstract

A training device (1) for teaching process improvement principles such as Six Sigma and the like. The device (1) includes a control unit (4), a heating element (5) connected to and controlled by the control unit (4) for heating water (3) in a reservoir (2), temperature sensors (6) connected to the control unit for measuring the water temperature and a plurality of other optional measuring devices such as a weighing apparatus. The control unit (4) is configured to select automatically one of a plurality of stored temperature profiles based on values measured by the temperature sensors and/or other measuring devices and to control the heating element (5) to cause the temperature of the water to follow substantially the selected temperature profile. The control unit (4) is also configured to be programmed and re-programmed by a user to change or replace at least one of the two or more stored temperature profiles.
