  • the manual release mechanism 20 includes a release handle 26 that is mounted to the vehicle door 12 so as to be accessible by a vehicle occupant. As shown in FIG. 3, the release handle 26 is externally mounted to the vehicle door 12. For example, the release handle 26 may be mounted to an interior panel or an exterior panel of the door 12. For example, the release handle 26 may be disposed in a housing 28 provided in the vehicle door 12, such as at the door trim substrate 30.

Abstract
