  • Mobile communication devices such as phones are generally configured to display the caller identification (ID) of the terminal from which a call or message to the mobile phone is received. If the caller ID matches that of one of the directory entries in the phone book of the phone, the mobile phone displays the directory entry name from which the call or message is received.

  • the advertiser is also prompted to choose the duration of the advertising campaign, the start and end date for the campaign and the maximum number of impressions per unique user.
  • An advertiser is able to load advertising contained in image files to the memory 32 of the server 16, from where the image files are downloaded or pushed to user's phones 12 having the demographics pre-defined by the advertiser.
  • the server software is operable to add metadata to the image files, which metadata contains instructions to the user software application, for example, on the start and end date for uploading the image file and the time of day during which the advert contained in the relevant image file maybe uploaded to the display screen 26.
  • the campaign server continuously polls and attempts to connect to various devices 12 at the registered times. Once the server 16 via the network 14 initiates and establishes a connection and a session, the campaign server commences with the data exchange. The microprocessor downloads or pushes new campaign image files from the server 16 to the phone's memory 20 via the network 14.

When an incoming call is answered or an outgoing call is made these triggers are stored against the advertising that was displayed. The date, time, Image ID and the trigger type is stored in the database. This information is uploaded at a predetermined date and time to the server 16 so as to make the data available to the advertiser in order to measure the success of the campaign via data mining and ⁇ or reporting.
  • the caller identification panel displayed on the mobile terminal 26 of the phone handles displaying the information and identity of the caller or message sent to or from.
  • the caller identification panel also displays a logo next to the number or name of the caller identified in the phonebook of the phone when an incoming, outgoing call or message is made or received.
  • logos known as "sponsored logos" can be dynamic in the sense they can be changed and modified by the person or advertiser who compiles the campaign.
  • the metadata within the header of the new advertisement will stipulate required information that the mobile software application will detect, interpret and execute in order to run the relevant advertising to each individual user. For example, the duration of the ad campaign, the start and end date for the campaign and the number of times the user will view the advertisement can be specified.
  • All image files of a current advertising campaign saved to the memory 20 are overwritten with new image files when the relevant campaign has run its course or image files can be triggered to self delete when the advertising campaign has terminated.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un système de publicité conçu pour faire la publicité dans un environnement de communication mobile. Le système comporte un serveur publicitaire (16) contenant du matériel publicitaire et un dispositif de communication mobile (12) qui est relié au serveur publicitaire (16) aux fins de la communication via un réseau de communication mobile (14). Chaque dispositif de communication mobile (16) comporte des moyens de réception destinés à recevoir le matériel publicitaire et des moyens de stockage de données dans lesquels ledit matériel publicitaire peut être stocké. Une interface (26) permet de présenter ledit matériel publicitaire à l'utilisateur du dispositif de communication mobile en réponse à la détection d'un évènement prédéterminé survenant sur ledit dispositif de communication mobile. Le système comporte en outre un serveur de campagne qui invite les dispositifs de communication mobiles à établir une connexion entre eux-mêmes et ledit serveur de campagne, une fois la connexion établie avec un dispositif de communication mobile spécifique, ledit dispositif de communication mobile est activé suivant une condition dans laquelle le matériel publicitaire peut être téléchargé du serveur publicitaire.
