Abstract
The present invention relates to a spinal fixation apparatus inserted in a patient to fix the spine of the patient, and more particularly, to a spinal fixation apparatus in which an upper portion of a screw unit fixed at the spine is completely covered by an inner cap unit when a head unit and a fixing cap unit are coupled together, such that the upper portion of the screw is fixed and the motion thereof is controlled by the inner cap unit, and in which an engagement structure between the head unit and the fixing cap unit is reinforced to achieve a reinforced binding force of the spinal fixation apparatus. The spinal fixation apparatus of the present invention comprises: said screw unit, the upper portion of which has a spherical joint; said head unit having a rod accommodating groove, the size of which enables the insertion of a spine rod; said fixing cap unit coupled to the head unit to prevent the spine rod from escaping; and said inner cap unit, which is fitted into an insertion hole formed through the lower portion of the head unit, and which has a joint-accommodating hole, the size of which enables the insertion of the spherical joint so as to cover and fasten the spherical joint when the head unit and the fixing cap unit are coupled and engaged with one another. The inner cap unit includes: a main body having a rod-mounting recess in which the spine rod is mounted; a fastening side wall covering the outer surface of the spherical joint; a fastening gap for dividing the fastening side wall from the adjacent fastening side wall; and a press end formed at the lower end of the fastening side wall to fasten the lower portion of the spherical joint and to control the motion of the spherical joint.
