Abstract

The present invention relates to a technique which enables a digital musical instrument to have an electronic performance function using synchronization information, and which connects the digital musical instrument to external musical equipment to receive and store synchronization information for setting musical performance, such as parameters, pre-settings and the like, so that the digital musical instrument can play music using the pre-stored synchronization information in accordance with the tone, type of musical instrument and other environmental variables which are set in the external musical equipment even when the digital musical instrument is detached from the external musical equipment and transported or moved. The present invention provides the digital musical instrument with a basic microcomputer and a musical performance function instead of providing the digital musical instrument with high specification hardware or a display for controlling internal sound and for editing, thereby remarkably reducing the weight and size of the musical instrument and enabling easy portability. The present invention is advantageous in that the control of sound and editing are carried out in the external musical equipment to reduce the cost of the digital musical instrument, and the time required for system-booting and program-loading during the operation of the digital musical instrument is not necessary to enable musical performance immediately after a power button is pressed.
