Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement thermique de biomasse et/ou de déchets solides d'origine ménagère, industrielle, agricole ou institutionnelle, y compris les déchets de services de santé, renfermant une matière carbonée d'origine biogénique ou non biogénique dans leur composition, au moyen d'un traitement thermique multiétagé faisant appel à des réacteurs avec chauffage indirect à l'aide d'un fluide thermique, ce qui favorise la désorption et/ou la décomposition thermique de la matière. Le procédé peut être mis en oeuvre pour: la torréfaction de bois ou d'un autre type de biomasse en vue de l'obtention de bois ou de biomasse torréfié(e); la pyrolyse de bois ou d'un autre type de biomasse en vue de l'obtention de charbon végétal; la pyrolyse de déchets d'origine ménagère, industrielle, agricole ou institutionnelle, y compris les déchets de services de santé, sans restrictions quant aux applications du procédé; et la désorption thermique de substances présentes dans des sols, des sables et/ou des déchets contaminés par des matières organiques telles que, par exemple, des hydrocarbures provenant du pétrole et de ses dérivés.
