Abstract

The present invention relates to a scan type tactile display, comprising: vertically movable pins (100) to create tactile sensation when protruded; at least one guide plate (180) for fixing the pins to limit the pin movement in a vertical direction; fixing bars (120) having a protrusion-depression pattern, in which each fixing bar is reciprocally movable at right angles to a pin's lower portion (110) and has an elastic material such as rubber adhered onto both surfaces thereof such that a pin is held and immobilized at a protrusion portion (122) and released at a depression portion to move freely; a frame (160) actuated by a linear actuator (170); a pin actuator (850) fixed on the frame (160) to push a protrusion target pin upward; a fixing bar separator fixed on the frame (160), which shifts the fixing bar (120) to cause the pin's lower portion (110) and the depression portion (122) of each fixing bar to face each other to enable actuation by the pin actuator (850); a fixing bar coupler (140) fixed on the frame, which shifts the fixing bars (120) to cause the pin's lower portion (110) and a protruded portion (121) of the fixing bar to face each other and to cause the pin (100) thus actuated to have a fixed position; and springs (510, 610) mounted between the pin and the guide plate to help a pin descend alone when freed. To display tactile information on the pin (100) of particular (X, Y) coordinates on a display plane, the linear actuator (170) first moves the frame (160) to an X position of the corresponding coordinates. Right before arriving at the X position, the fixing bar (120) is separated from the pin's lower portion (110) by the separator (130) fixed on the frame (160), and then enters a controllable state by the pin actuator (850). At this time, if necessary, when the frame (160) is further shifted from its controlled state where tactile information intended by the pin (100) can be displayed by actuating the pin actuator (850) at a Y position, the pin's lower portion (110) by the coupler (140) is suspended by the protruded portion (121) of the fixing bar (120) and thus the position of the pin (100) is fixed, thereby transferring tactile information to users.
