Abstract
An apparatus and method of generating a panoramic image and a computer-readable recording medium having embodied thereon a program for executing the method. The apparatus includes: an image acquiring unit for sequentially acquiring a plurality of images; a matching region acquiring unit for acquiring a matching region, which is an overlapping region between a first image and a second image to be combined with the first image from among the plurality of images, wherein the matching region includes sub-regions obtained by dividing the matching region in a direction perpendicular to a combination direction in which the first image and the second image are combined; and a panorama generating unit for generating a panoramic image by blending a region of the first image corresponding to the matching region with a region of the second image corresponding to the matching region in units of the sub-regions by using a weight function that is defined for each of the sub-regions.
