MÉTODOS DE LOCALIZACION DE DAÑOS EN PALAS DE AEROGENERADORES
CAMPO DE LA INVENCIÓN
Esta invención se refiere a métodos de localización de daños en palas de aerogeneradores y en particular a métodos que utilizan un análisis de emisión acústica.
ANTECEDENTES
La Emisión Acústica (AE) se refiere a Ia generación de ondas elásticas transitorias producidas por una rápida redistribución de tensiones en un material. Cuando una estructura está sujeta a un estímulo externo (un cambio en Ia presión, Ia carga o Ia temperatura) unas fuentes localizadas disparan Ia liberación de energía en forma de ondas de tensión que se propagan a través de Ia superficie y son registradas por sensores.
La detección y análisis de señales AE puede proporcionar una información valiosa sobre el origen y Ia importancia de una discontinuidad en un material. Debido a Ia versatilidad de los Ensayos de Emisión Acústica (AET) tiene muchas aplicaciones industriales (p. ej. verificación de Ia integridad estructural, detección de defectos, pruebas de fugas ó supervisión de Ia calidad de una soldadura) y se usa extensivamente como herramienta de investigación.
En particular, Ia vigilancia de eventos AE relacionados con Ia formación y propagación de daños se viene aplicando en Ia monitorización de Ia salud estructural, principalmente en los campos de Ia ingeniería civil y aeroespacial. Cuando los eventos AE se propagan en un medio adecuado se comportan como ondas guiadas. Se están dedicando muchos esfuerzos hacia Ia monitorización de emisiones acústicas cuando se propagan a través de una estructura, principalmente en forma de ondas de Lamb ó ondas de Rayleigh en el rango de frecuencias de ultrasonidos bajos.
Dos ejemplos de Ia tecnología conocida son los siguientes.

US 4,524,620 describe un aparato para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de las palas del rotor de un helicóptero que comprende uno o más transductores acústicos asociados con una pala del rotor para monitorizar las emisiones acústicas emitidas por Ia pala del rotor bajo tensiones operacionales. La salida de los transductores está conectada con un ordenador. Las señales de salida del transductor se procesan por el ordenador y se filtran para permitir lecturas del nivel de retorno de Ia tensión en tiempo real de manera que se acumule un contador de emisiones acústicas críticas que son indicativas de un daño o una fatiga estructural irreversible de Ia pala del rotor.
US 2008/206052 se refiere a un método y a un dispositivo para monitorizar el estado de palas del rotor en instalaciones eólicas en las que el ruido conducido a través de Ia estructura se mide por medio de al menos un sensor de desplazamiento dispuesto en una pala del rotor, las señales de salida de dichos sensores determinan un espectro de frecuencia en una unidad de evaluación por medio de métodos apropiados, el espectro de frecuencia se compara con un espectro de referencia correspondiente a estados definidos de daño y otros estados particulares almacenados en Ia unidad de evaluación, y el estado de Ia pala del rotor se determina a partir de ello. El objetivo de Ia invención es el de proporcionar un método y un dispositivo que permite identificar y evaluar rápidamente daños locales interiores y exteriores y otros estados de las palas del rotor causantes de daños para tener en cuenta su efecto en Ia operación de Ia instalación de manera automatizada.
Los sistemas conocidos de monitorización de Ia salud estructural usando análisis de emisiones acústicas son caros y complicados por Io que todavía no están incorporados en los aerogeneradores comerciales.
Esta invención está orientada a Ia solución de ese problema.
SUMARIO DE LA INVENCIÓN

Un objeto de Ia presente invención es proporcionar métodos de localización de daños en palas de aerogenerador utilizando el análisis de emisiones acústicas que pueden ser implementados fácilmente.
Otro objeto de Ia presente invención es proporcionar métodos de localización de daños en palas de aerogenerador utilizando el análisis de emisiones acústicas que pueden ser implementados a un coste bajo.
Estos y otros objetos se consiguen proporcionado un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador cuya configuración incluye una cavidad interior utilizando el análisis de emisiones acústicas que comprende los siguientes pasos:
- Proporcionar las características sónicas de eventos predeterminados de daño de Ia pala.
- Proporcionar al menos un transductor acústico colocado en dicha cavidad interior cerca de Ia raíz de Ia pala, conectado a un equipo para llevar a cabo análisis de emisiones acústicas utilizando las señales registradas por dicho transductor.
- Comparar dichas señales registradas por dicho al menos un transductor acústico, separando el efecto debido al comportamiento reverberante de Ia cavidad interior, con dichas características sónicas para identificar un evento de daño y su localización. Esa comparación se lleva a cabo solamente para aquellas señales comprendidas dentro del rango de frecuencias correspondiente a dichos eventos predeterminados de daño.
En una realización preferente dicha cavidad interior es Ia cavidad de Ia viga de Ia pala que generalmente tiene una geometría bien definida que facilita el proceso de las señales mencionado anteriormente. Se consigue con ello un método de localización de daños en palas de aerogeneradores fácil de implementar.
En una realización preferente, dichos eventos predeterminados de daño son eventos predeterminados de daño con unas características sónicas comprendidas en un rango de frecuencias entre 1 Hz - 10 kHz y, mas preferentemente entre 100 Hz - 5 kHz que incluye eventos de rotura de fibras y eventos de fallos de uniones. Se consigue con ello un método de localización de

daños en palas de aerogeneradores que permite localizar los eventos de daño más significativos a un bajo coste.
Otras características y ventajas de Ia presente invención se desprenderán de Ia descripción detallada que sigue en relación con las figuras que se acompañan.
BREVE DESCRIPCIÓN DE LAS FIGURAS
La Figura 1 es una vista esquemática en sección transversal de una pala típica de un aerogenerador.
La Figura 2 es una vista esquemática en sección longitudinal de una pala típica de un aerogenerador mostrando Ia propagación de una onda sónica debida a un evento de daño en Ia cavidad de Ia viga de Ia pala.
DESCRIPCIÓN DETALLADA DE LAS REALIZACIONES PREFERIDAS
Las palas de aerogenerador típicas pueden tener una longitud entre 20 y 60 metros o incluso mayor y están construida con materiales compuestos tal como un plástico reforzado con vidrio (GRP). Como deben estar funcionado el mayor tiempo posible soportando muchos factores de daño tales como Ia fatiga, las ráfagas de viento, los impactos de rayos, Ia radiación solar y muchos otros es importante que puedan estar provistas con medios para Ia detección de daños y en particular daños tales como roturas, delaminaciones o fallos en uniones pegadas que pueden ser reparados. En este sentido, el objetivo de Ia presente invención es proporcionar métodos basados en el análisis de las variaciones en Ia frecuencias acústicas dentro de una pala dañada.
La idea básica de Ia invención es un análisis de emisiones acústicas centrado en el uso de Ia cavidad definida por Ia viga de Ia pala como guía de Ia onda, estudiando el efecto de esta guía en Ia frecuencia de Ia onda sónica propagándose dentro de ella, evitando con ello los importantes problemas de amortiguación de las ondas sónicas que tienen lugar en las ondas estructurales en las estructuras de materiales compuestos. Se trata pues de ondas de sonido

audible y se opera con un sensor simple dentro de una geometría conocida. Consecuentemente el sistema de monitorización según Ia presente invención está basado en micrófonos convencionales y un equipamiento convencional, Io que implica sistemas de monitorización provistos con algoritmos apropiados para el proceso de señales acústicas baratos y fáciles implementar.
Como se ¡lustra en Ia Figura 1 , una pala típica de aerogenerador tiene perfil aerodinámico en sección transversal configurado como una sección de tres celdas: Ia viga central 7, Ia concha del borde de ataque 5 y Ia concha del borde de salida 9 formadas por uno o varios paneles. Los métodos según Ia presente invención están por tanto basados en el comportamiento de las ondas acústicas propagándose dentro de dicha viga central 7 para monitorizar daños.
Como se muestra en Ia Figura 2 un evento de daño que tiene lugar en un lugar 11 produce una onda sónica 13 que se propaga a Io largo de Ia cavidad definida por Ia viga central 7. Esta onda sónica 13 se registra en el transductor acústico 15 colocado en las cercanías de Ia raíz de Ia pala y Ia señal registrada se procesa en un equipo informático apropiado para identificar el tipo de daño (entre un conjunto predeterminado de daños) y su localización. Dicho equipo puede ser un equipo dedicado para ejecutar el método según Ia presente invención o un equipo usado también para otras finalidades.
Los daños más típicos en palas de material compuesto son roturas de fibras y fallos de uniones pegadas. Estos tipos de eventos tienen unas características sónicas bien definidas en un rango entre 1 Hz-10 kHz y en los casos más significativos entre 100 Hz - 5 kHz por Io que pueden ser filtrados fácilmente de otras señales acústicas, incluso por el simple oído. Así pues, en el método según Ia presente invención solo se considerarán las señales dentro de ese rango.
La vigas de las palas tienen una geometrías y una propiedades del material muy bien definidas Io que implica unas propiedades muy particulares para Ia propagación acústica en Ia cavidad definida en su interior.

El espectro del sonido presente en Ia raíz de pala consiste en una mezcla del evento acústico producido por el daño con el comportamiento reverberante de Ia cavidad.
Por medio de una comparación de las características sónicas de los daños conocidos y las características del sonido registrado en Ia raíz de Ia pala se puede determinar el efecto de Ia cavidad. Conociendo este efecto y las propiedades de propagación de Ia cavidad, se puede identificar Ia localización del daño.
Aunque Ia presente invención se ha descrito enteramente en conexión con realizaciones preferidas, es evidente que se pueden introducir aquellas modificaciones dentro de su alcance, no considerando éste como limitado por las anteriores realizaciones, sino por el contenido de las reivindicaciones siguientes.

Claims
1.- Un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador cuya configuración incluye una cavidad interior (7) utilizando el análisis de emisiones acústicas, caracterizado porque comprende los siguientes pasos:
- a) proporcionar las características sónicas de eventos predeterminados de daños de Ia pala;
- b) proporcionar al menos un transductor acústico (15), colocado en dicha cavidad interior (7) cerca de Ia raíz de Ia pala, conectado a un equipo para llevar a cabo análisis de emisiones acústicas utilizando las señales registradas por dicho transductor (15);
- c) comparar las señales registradas por dicho al menos un transductor acústico (15) comprendidas dentro del rango de frecuencias correspondiente a dichos eventos predeterminados de daño, separando el efecto debido al comportamiento reverberante de Ia cavidad interior (7), con dichas características sónicas para identificar un evento de daño y su localización.
2.- Un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador según Ia reivindicación 1 , caracterizado porque dicha cavidad interior (7) es Ia cavidad de Ia viga de Ia pala.
3.- Un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador según cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-2, caracterizado porque dicho rango de frecuencias está comprendido entre 1 Hz - 10 kHz.
4.- Un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador según cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-2, caracterizado porque dicho rango de frecuencias está comprendido entre 100 Hz - 5 kHz.

5.- Un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador según cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-4, caracterizado porque dichos eventos predeterminados de daños incluyen Ia rotura de fibras.
6.- Un método para monitorizar Ia salud estructural de una pala de aerogenerador según cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-5. caracterizado porque dichos eventos predeterminados de daños incluyen el fallo de una unión pegada.
