Description
AUXILIARY DEVICE FOR HANDHELD VACUUM/BLOWER APPARATUS APT TO COLLECT OLIVES OR OTHER FRUITS AND HANDHELD VACUUM COLLECTOR COMPRISING SAID AUXILIARY DEVICE Field of the Invention
The present invention concerns an auxiliary device for handheld vacuum/blower apparatus, said auxiliary device allowing to collect olives, or similar fruits separating them from leaves or other lawn refuses.
The present invention also concerns a vacuum/blower apparatus for garden/farm works, in particular for collecting olives, or similar fruits.
Description of the Prior Art
Jn the field of gardening or fruit plants growing, they are known handheld apparatus for collecting fruits such as walnuts, nuts, chestnuts, groundnuts, olives or other fruits having similar size, in which by suction means and proper suction pipes the fruits are suctioned together with leaves and other lawn refuses, and they are the separated and collected in specific containers or tanks.
Patent US 6,216,876 discloses a portable vacuum apparatus in which to a suction inlet of suction means is connected a container having a first aperture for connecting said suction inlet and a second aperture at an opposite end for connecting a suction pipe which extend of a certain amount inside the container. At the end of the suction pipe, inside the container, a deflector generates an air turbulence that allows separating leaves and other matter having lower density from fruits that falls by gravity towards the bottom of the container. Leaves and other solid materials having lower density go on with the air flow and exit the container passing through the suction means for being then released in the outer environment Such a solution has clear limits as regards comfort of use and capacity of the container which is constrained on one side to the need of being not too heavy for the user and on the other side to be efficient at separating fruits from refuses. In addiction, as the container has to be able to separate fruits from leaves it cannot be fully filled with fruits so that its capacity cannot be fully utilized. In US 2 789 409 A is disclosed a device for collecting fruits in which among a suction pipe, a pump connecting pipe and a collecting tank is interposed a separating body with three apertures substantially composed of a container providing a deflector and a hopper for convoying towards the collecting tank. The separator body of the above device is bulky and it can only be placed behind the shoulders of the user.
In FR 2 713 040 A is disclosed an apparatus for separating fruits from leaves or other refuses in which a separator body with three apertures is integral to a collecting tank in which an adjustable deflector is able to selectively close the passage between the separating body and the collecting tank. In this case as well the apparatus is very bulky and heavy and it has evident limits as concerns its comfort of use.
In US 4 499 713 A is disclosed an apparatus for collecting nuts in which an air jet produced by a pump blows air, nuts and refuses in a pipe providing at one end a tubular separating body in which, between an inlet aperture and an outlet aperture that are substantially on a same straight line, there is a deflector deviating the nuts towards an aperture arranged at an angle of about 90° with regard to the inlet and outlet apertures. In this last solution air is blown instead of being suctioned and there are limits of efficiency related to the arrangement of the portion of the apparatus where the pipe interrupts in correspondence to the ground.
More solutions, such as the ones disclosed in the international application WO 2004/014120 or a product by the company "Cifarelli S. p. A." commercially named V77S, allow to wear the apparatus behind the shoulders. Both the above and the previous solutions comprise suction means and a tank in which separation of fruits from refuses having lower density occurs.
These last solutions, though they are quite comfortable as they can be worn behind the shoulders, are bulky, heavy and expensive and they need to use high powered motors.

Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments
Referring to figure 1 it is pointed as whole with 10 a handheld vacuum/blower apparatus for collecting olives or other fruits comprising suction means, 20, a suction tube, 30, a collecting tank, 40, for collecting fruits and a separating body, 50, installed between them.
The suction means 20 comprises a motor, 21, powering a compressor, 22, apt to create a partial vacuum which allows suctioning from a suction opening, 23, and discharging through a discharge opening, 24.
The suction means 23 also comprises handle means, 25 and 26, and a strap, 27, for carrying it by a shoulder and the handle means are shaped and placed so that the suction means 20 can be operated by keeping them with both hands or with one or both hands and the shoulder strap at the height of the operator's hips in a position which is in front of or on one side the operator body.
To the suction opening 23 is connected, by rapid fastening means, the separating body, 50, which is further connected at its ends to the suction tube 30 and to the collecting tank 40.
In figure 2 is better shown the arrangement of the separating body 50 which comprises a first aperture, 51, where is connected by rapid fastening means, 52, the suction tube 30. A tubular suction branch, 53, of the separating body curves of about 90" and then it runs with an angle of about 45° and in any case lower than 90s into a straight section of a tubular delivery branch, 54, which is downward provided with a second aperture, 55, where screw threaded means, 56, allows connecting to the collecting tank 40, while upwards, after curving of about 90° in the direction opposite to the side where is connected the tubular suction branch 53, it leads to a third aperture, 57, where rapid fastening means, 58, allows connecting to the suction means 20. The separating body is arranged so that it forms a deflecting baffle, 59, for deflecting the air flow from the first aperture 51 to the third aperture 57 created by the suction means 20 and thanks to the fact that the collecting tank 40 is airtight.
In the present embodiment the deflecting baffle 59 is formed by the coupling of the walls of the tubular suction branch 53 and the tubular delivery branch 54, in particular by the portions thereof placed above the insertion point where the tubular suction branch enters the tubular delivery branch.
The air flow comprising the fruits, 60, and further matter with a lower density, 61. such as leaves or little branch portions enters a suction mouth, 31, of the suction tube 30 and pass through the first aperture 51 of the separating body 50. The collecting tank 40 is airtight and it is sized so that it can be hold by the operator when full. Furthermore, for a comfortable use, the bottom of the collecting tank is provided with an opening door, 31, allowing an easy emptying operation without disconnecting it from the separating body 50.
In figure 3 is shown a different embodiment of the auxiliary device of the invention in which a substantially tubular separating body, 50', with three apertures, 51', 55' and 57' has a suction branch, 53', which can have a circular, squared, polygonal or any other section, and it enters a room, 63', provided with the second aperture 55' in the bottom section and with the third aperture 57* in the upper section. A deflecting baffle, 59', is bound to the upper wall of the room 63" so that it creates a deflection of the air flow from the suction branch 53' and the third aperture 57'.
In figure 4 is shown a different embodiment, 10", of the vacuum/blower apparatus of figure 1 in which on top of the separating body 50 is bound a handle, 65, apt to let easily keep the apparatus in the proper work configuration. In fact, in this last embodiment, the weight of the vacuum/blower apparatus can be hold by the shoulder thanks to the strap 27, while the apparatus is oriented for keeping the proper angle with the ground by handling with one hand the handle 25 and with the other hand the handle 65. In addiction, a tubular fitting, 71, is connected to the discharge opening 22 for mounting a bag, 70, for collecting the refuses 61.
In figure 5 is shown a further embodiment of the vacuum/blower apparatus of the present invention in which a separating body 50" has a third aperture, 57", upward directed.
The suction means, 20", are mounted in this case on top of the separating body and also above the collecting tank and the apparatus is handled by handles, 26", 27", both integral to the suction means.
Certainly, with respect to what above described, a number of further modifications can be carried out to the arrangement of the auxiliary device for portable vacuum apparatus for collecting olives or other fruits of the present invention. For instance, the shape of the separating body could change still in view of allowing the separation of fruits from matter with a lower density.
