Abstract
The invention relates to a pulling fastener and particularly to a pulling fastener used in the straightening of a vehicle or equivalent, which includes a fastener body (1) which has fastener parts (2) for the releasable fastening of the fastener body in the vehicle (3) or equivalent, a shaft (4) fastened in the fastener body and a pulling arm (5) rotatably fastened in the shaft. The pulling fastener according to the invention includes an opening facing downwards on one side of the fastener body, and the shaft (4) is rotatably fastened in the fastener body (1).
Description
PULLING FASTENER
The invention relates to a pulling fastener and particularly to a pulling fastener used in the straightening of a vehicle or equivalent, which includes a fastener body which has fastener parts for the releasable fastening of the fastener body in the vehicle or equivalent, a shaft fastened in the fastener body and a pulling arm rotatably fastened in the shaft.
The straightening of vehicles employs fastener devices, which are fastened at a suitable point in the vehicle. Such straightening fasteners usually have gripping devices, such as jaws or equivalent fastener parts, which are fastened by clamping at a desired point in the vehicle. In the fastener body is again fastened an appropriate pulling element, such as a shaft and a pulling arm, and by moving the pulling arm in a suitable direction this point of the vehicle will be straighten. In pulling fasteners, the fastener device in question and the section of the vehicle in which it is fastened are pulled in a specific direction for straightening the structure of the vehicle. A problem of using recent pulling fasteners is that the effective straightening of vehicle door openings and other structures with corners is sometimes awkward, because the fastener cannot be pulled in the precisely correct direction in some cases.
An object of the invention is to introduce a pulling fastener by means of which disadvantages related to recent pulling fasteners are eliminated. A particular object of the invention is to introduce a pulling fastener which is adjustable and rotatable in a desired way and the pulling can be done freely and precisely in the desired direction.
The object of the invention is achieved with a pulling fastener, which is characterised by what is presented in the claims.
According to the invention, there is an opening facing downwards on one side of the fastener body, and the shaft is rotatably fastened in the fastener body. This way, the shaft is fastenable in the middle of the fastener body and an optimal pulling line is obtained in relation to the edge or border of the vehicle in which the pulling fastener is fastened. Then, it is possible to rotate the shaft to a precisely accurate angle in relation to the fastener body and the target being straightened when pulling. The pulling arm is rotatably fastened in the shaft. Thus, the pulling arm is.rotatable in a very versatile way in different directions in relation to the fastener body and the straightening pull of the vehicle can be precisely performed in the desired direction.
Therefore, the corners of the vehicle structures in which the fastener is fastened are not warped in the pulling direction.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the fastener body consists of two sections where the first body section has an opening, and the shaft is fastened in the second body section rotatably at the point of the opening. Then, it is on the one hand possible to fasten the shaft sturdily in place and it is on the other hand easily rotatable in a desired position.
In an advantageous further embodiment of the invention, the shaft is pivotally fastened in the fastener body. Thus, it is possible to rotate it into various positions independent of the fastener body.

Fig. 3 shows an oblique view of the other side of the pulling fastener according to Fig. 1 in various positions.
In the embodiment according to the figures, the pulling fastener includes a fastener body 1, a shaft 4 fastened in it and a pulling arm 5. The fastener body 1 includes two body sections which have jaw parts 2 operating as fastener parts which are at a distance from each other. The jaw parts include in a known way two separate clamping jaws, which are clampable against each other by means of clamping elements, such as clamping bolts 7. The fastener body consists of two body sections where the first body section has an opening extending downwards and widening slightly downwards, such as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The second body section is solid and has no opening in question, such as it is seen from Fig. 3. The cylindrical shaft 4 is rotatably fastened by means of a fastening bolt or a fastening shaft 6 in the middle of the fastener body in the second body section at the point of the opening in the first body section. In a way shown in Figs. 1-3, the shaft 4 is fastened in the fastener body 1 rotatably, i.e., it is rotatable to various angles in relation to the fastener body in its longitudinal direction.
In the shaft can be fastened the pulling arm 5. The pulling arm 5 includes a fastening sleeve in which the shaft is settable, and the pulling arm is rotatably settable in the shaft 4 such that it can be rotated for 360° in relation to the shaft and the fastener body. In the fastener body 1, there are shoulders 8 on the opposite side of the jaw parts at a distance from each other. The shoulders limit the opening and the rotation of the shaft/cylinder 4 such that, in this embodiment, the smallest angle between different rotation directions of the shaft is slightly below 90°, such as shown in Fig. 2. No larger angle than that this is required in the straightening. When fastening the pulling fastener, the clamping jaws 2 of the fastener body are set in place on an edge or border in the body structure 3 of the vehicle and clamped fast by means of the fastening bolts 7, whereby the straightening fastener is locked in a desired position. The shaft 4 is rotatable in relation to the fastener body in its longitudinal direction between the shoulders. After that, the pulling arm 5 is set in the shaft, rotated in a desired direction and fastened in place by a fastening screw.
Then, the pulling arm 5 is connected to a pulling apparatus (not shown in the figures) and the point in question of the vehicle is pulled with the pulling apparatus in a desired direction. Fig. 2 shows the pulling of the pulling arm obliquely downwards and dashed lines further show it's pulling in the other direction i.e. obliquely upwards. In these positions, the shaft is obliquely rotated in a desired direction. In both cases, the pulling is parallel to the edge or border of the body structure of the vehicle and the structure is not warped in an undesired direction. Fig. 3 shows the shaft from the other side of the fastener body in a vertical position in relation to the fastener body and the pulling of the pulling arm in a slightly oblique direction sidewards. Dashed lines in Fig. 3 show the pulling of the pulling arm in the opposite direction.
The invention is not limited to the described advantageous embodiments, but it can vary within the scope of the inventive idea presented in the claims.
Claims
1. A pulling fastener and particularly a pulling fastener used in the straightening of a vehicle or equivalent, which includes a fastener body (1) which has fastener parts (2) for the releasable fastening of the fastener body in the vehicle (3) or equivalent, a shaft (4) fastened in the fastener body and a pulling arm (5) rotatably fastened in the shaft, characterised in that there is a downwards facing opening on one side of the fastener body, and that the shaft (4) is rotatably fastened in the fastener body (1).
2. A pulling fastener according to claim 1, characterised in that the fastener body consists of two body sections where the first body section has an opening, and the shaft (4) is fastened in the second body section rotatably at the point of the opening.
3. A pulling fastener according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the shaft (4) is pivotally (6) fastened in the fastener body (1).
