Abstract

La présente invention porte sur un système et sur un procédé pour entrer des caractères, des symboles et des instructions à l'aide d'un dispositif tel qu'un écran tactile, une tablette etc., qui a un système de coordonnées. En particulier, la présente invention porte sur un système et sur un procédé pour entrer des caractères, des symboles, des instructions etc., rapidement et aisément d'une façon efficace à l'aide d'un écran tactile inclus dans des terminaux de type compact tels que des téléphones cellulaires ou des assistants numériques personnels. Selon la présente invention, une valeur de code d'entrée peut être déterminée en fonction non seulement d'une touche touchée, mais également d'une forme et d'une direction de toucher et mouvement. Autrement dit, une valeur d'entrée d'un caractère ou symbole ou d'une instruction peut être déterminée en fonction d'une première position de toucher, d'une trajectoire de mouvement du toucher, d'une dernière position de toucher, d'une combinaison de vecteurs de direction des première et dernière positions de toucher, d'une combinaison de touches ayant été touchées après le premier toucher au cours du mouvement, d'une position et d'une direction d'intersection entre la limite d'une touche ou région divisée et la trajectoire touchée, etc. En particulier, même pour un petit écran tel qu'un écran tactile de téléphone cellulaire ou d'assistant numérique personnel par exemple, on peut entrer des caractères, symboles, codes d'instruction ou chaînes de codes désirés bien plus rapidement et de façon bien plus précise que par un procédé d'entrée de type clavier tactile à simple toucher étant donné que des régions de touche ou régions fractionnées obtenues par fractionnement d'une région d'entrée et une trajectoire de toucher et mouvement sur celles-ci sont interprétées et combinées sur la base des régions fractionnées. En raison du fait qu'une entrée tactile sur des régions fractionnées est interprétée, même si un certain nombre de codes d'instruction doivent être entrés, un procédé d'entrée peut toujours être conçu pour découvrir aisément et précisément l'objectif d'entrée de l'utilisateur. Lorsqu'il est appliqué à un clavier tactile, le clavier pour l'entrée de caractères et d'instructions peut occuper une partie moins importante d'un écran donné afin d'employer un écran plus large en tant qu'écran de programme d'application tel qu'un affichage de chaînes de caractères.
