Abstract
While several devices and living skin substitutes have been developed over the past few years, none possess an integrated vasculature. Accordingly, the invention described herein provides, in part, controllable, three-dimensional human skin equivalents constructed using biodegradable microfluidic systems that encompass a variety of properties, including biodegradeability, bioactivity and full functionality, and a complete microcirculation.
