Abstract

A method of using a double-sided tape dispenser/applicator, double sided tape which has a protected sanitary surface prior to use, and a cape to accomplish having a new sanitary surface in contact with the neck of a person receiving a haircut or hair treatment or other service. The cape is drawn over the applicator portion of the tape dispenser/applicator. As the double-sided adhesive tape is dispensed and affixed adhesively onto the edge or collar of the cape, the sanitary surface is exposed by stripping the protective paper cover of the second adhesive surface for the first time. The cape with the sanitary tape affixed is then applied to the neck of the person. The adhesive tape is used only for one person and then is removed and discarded. For the next person, a new piece of sanitary adhesive tape is applied to the cape.

BACKGROUND: FIELD OF INVENTION

This invention relates to providing a sanitary contact surface to contact the neck of persons receiving a haircut or other hair treatment service.

BACKGROUND: SUMMARY OF PRIORART

It is known to provide neck strips for sanitary purposes when cutting hair or receiving other hair treatments to prevent the cape from touching the neck of the patron. In addition, the process of using such neck strips is time consuming and wastes haircutters most prized possession, their time.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,427,24 lto Manno provides one or more adhesive strips with adhesive on both sides of the strip. The first adhesive surface is attached to a circumference of a neck of a person and encloses the neck therein. The second adhesive surface then receives a collar portion of hair cutting cape in a secure fashion. This method of use of common double-sided adhesive tape is cumbersome and time consuming, and does not provide for the sanitary condition of the adhesive neck strips prior to and during use.

The prior art does not address the need for a method of using a combination of hair-service cape and double-sided adhesive which is convenient, easy to apply and usable in a minimum amount of time. Therefore, there remains a long standing and continuing need for an advance in the art of sanitary neck strips and methods of use thereof that is simpler in both design and use, is more economical, efficient in its construction and use, and eliminates the failures of the prior art.

Objects and Advantages:

Accordingly, the above patent provides a sanitary contact surface as the only contact surface touching a person's neck, and additionally: a) Protects the sanitary surface of the adhesive tape until actually placed in use, b) Provides a very simple and easy means of applying said sanitary contact surface to a cape, c) Provides a very speedy way to apply the adhesive tape to the cape, d) Reduces the discomfort of tightly cinched capes. e) e) Allows tape to be applied to any necessary length of cape collar or edge according to the size of the neck of the person being served.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, it is a general object of the present invention to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.

In particular, it is an object of the present invention to provide a neck strip that is effective in providing a sanitary surface which shall be the only surface contacting the neck of a person receiving a haircut or other hair service.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a quick and easy method to apply double-sided tape to a hairservice cape while maintaining the sanitary condition of the contact surface.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a disposable single use sanitary contact strip which is protected up to the time of use.

Such stated objects and advantages of the invention are only examples and should not be construed as limiting the present invention. These and other objects, features, aspects, and advantages of the invention herein will become more apparent from the following detailed description of the embodiments of the invention when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and the claims that follow.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to Drawing no. 1, FIGS. 1 and 2, therein is illustrated a double-sided tape dispenser/applicator and a small cape of the present invention. Figure 3 presents the mechanism of the double-sided tape dispenser/applicator, showing the double-sided tape as it is dispensed with the paper sanitary cover being removed from the tape as it is dispensed.

Drawing no. 2: The cape is held in a person's hands prior to applying the sanitary double-sided adhesive tape. FIG 4.: The cape collar (1) is placed on the guide of the tape dispenser(2). The cape and the tape are held by the user's hand and pulled in the direction of the arrows on the dispenser and the cape collar. As the cape passes over the dispensing/applicator roller(3) the tape is affixed to the collar of the cape. While the tape is being dispensed onto the cape, the paper cover over the sanitary surface is stripped away, leaving the sanitary tape surface exposed for the first time.

Drawing no. 3: Figures 6 and 7: The user then places the untouched tape surface onto the neck of the customer, providing a sanitary contact surface as the only contact between the cape and the customer. After the customers services are finished, the cape and attached tape are removed from the neck and the tape is removed from the cape and discarded.

Claims

Claims: I claim:

1. The method allows that a sanitary strip of double-sided adhesive tape is applied by using a tape dispenser/applicator to a cape, such cape being made of cloth or paper, prior to applying the cape to the neck of a person receiving a haircut or other hair treatment service.

2. The invention of claim 1, the sanitary surface of the double-sided adhesive tape is protected until the instant of application and affixing of said tape to the said cape..

3. The invention of claim 1, wherein said sanitary strip of tape is disposable.

4. The invention of claim 1, wherein the adhesive contacting a person's neck is hypoallegenic.
