Description
SOUND PROOF WALL USING TRANSPARENCY PANELS
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a sound proof wall, and more particularly to a transparent sound proof wall, in which a transparent plate serving as a sound proof plate is supported in a modified manner, the transparent plate is prevented from being broken within an allowed limit of displacement, and easy maintenance and good appearance can be achieved. Background Art
[2] In general, a sound proof wall is installed where residential area or school facility is paced near roads so that noises from vehicles can be reflected or absorbed by the sound proof wall. Conventional sound proof walls are structured in such a way that H-beam support poles are installed in the ground at regular intervals and a plurality of sound proof plates is inserted and stacked between the support poles.
[3] On the other hand, the sound proof wall is categorized into an absorption type sound proof wall, a transparent sound proof wall and a reflection type sound proof wall. The present invention is directed to a transparent sound proof wall. In such a transparent sound proof wall, a transparent plate is installed within a rectangular frame and then inserted between adjacent support poles. This type sound proof wall provides a transparency due to the transparent plate. However, the frame is exposed between the transparent plates, thereby providing a window-like appearance and thus failing to provide a feeling of wide opening and wide spread to the drivers or residents.
[4] In recent years, therefore, a sound proof wall without a frame in the upper and lower ends thereof has been used, in order for the drivers or residents to minimally recognize the presence of the sound proof wall, as shown in FIG. 4.
[5] More specifically, as illustrated in FIG. 4, the sound proof wall 1 includes a support pole 3 and a sound proof plate 5. Here, the sound proof plate 5 is comprised of a transparent plate 7 and a frame 9 installed in both lengthwise end portions of the transparent plate 7. The sound proof plate 5 is inserted between the neighboring support poles 3 from the upper side thereof. The sound proof plate 5 is continually inserted and stacked in the height direction until the sound proof wall 1 reaches a desired height. At this time, there is no frame between the sound proof plates installed in the height direction. Thus, the transparent plates 7 of the sound proof plate 5 are made directly contacted with each other or spaced apart from each other by a certain distance.
[6] However, the above conventional technique embraces problems as follows.
[7] That is, the transparent plate 7 is formed of plastic or glass materials. The sound proof plate 5 can pass Korean Test Standard if the displacement at the center thereof ("A" in FIG. 5) falls within 50mm in the load displacement test, as shown in FIG. 5. However, in the case where the transparent plate 7 is formed of glass materials, even if the displacement at the center thereof falls within the 50mm in the same test, the glass plate can be broken if displaced beyond a certain limit. Thus, in the case of a transparent plate 7 made of glass, the allowable displacement thereof is extremely restricted disadvantageously.
[8] On the other hand, according to the government standard notice as to performance and installation of sound proof walls, a sound proof wall shall be harmonized with surrounding views and provide a good appearance. For this purpose, consultations from an organ of examination or relevant experts are required so as to devise various programs, in terms of types and colors of a sound proof wall, development of forests, planting of creepers, combination of transparent and opaque sound proof plates, placing of flower pots in the end portions and connection portions of sound proof walls, use of various forms and patterns of sound proof plates, and the like. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[9] The present invention has been made to solve the above problems in the art, and it is an object to the invention to a transparent sound proof wall, in which the frame is omitted from conventional sound proof plates so to construct a sound proof plate using only a transparent plate, so that a sense of wide opening and spread can be provided and the displacement of the transparent plate itself can be reduced even under a large amount of displacement thereof, thereby enabling to prevent failure of the transparent plate and enabling easy replacement of the transparent plates. Technical Solution
[10] According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a transparent sound proof comprising: a plurality of transparent plates; a gasket connecting adjacent two transparent plates among the transparent plates and capable of being elastically deformed to respond to an external force, the gasket being combined to a widthwise end portion of one of the two adjacent transparent plates and a widthwise end portion of the other one thereof; a shoe wrapping around lengthwise lower end portions of the transparent plates; a concrete foundation having a connection groove formed along lengthwise direction thereof, the shoe being inserted into and fixed to the connection groove; and a plurality of support columns for supporting the transparent plates, the support column being installed in the concrete foundation at regular intervals.
[11] In an embodiment, the support column supports an upper end portion of the
transparent plate. [12] In an embodiment, the gasket is formed of a rubber material, and includes an insert portion provided at both side of the gasket, an end portion of the transparent being inserted into the insert portion, at least one protrusion being formed in a portion contacting the transparent plate to contact the transparent plate. [13] In an embodiment, the shoe includes a receiving portion inserted into the connection groove of the concrete foundation, the transparent plate being inserted into the receiving portion, and a saucer portion extending horizontally outwards from an upper end of both opposite plates forming the receiving portion, the saucer portion being fixed to the concrete foundation by means of a bolt. [14] In an embodiment, the support column includes a main stem portion and a plurality branch portions branched from an upper end of the stem portion, the branch portion supporting an upper end portion of the transparent plate.
Advantageous Effects
[15] According to the present invention, the frame is omitted from the conventional sound proof plate to construct the sound proof plate using only a transparent plate, thereby enabling to provide a feeling of wide opening and spread to the residents and drivers. [16] In addition, even if a large amount of displacement occurs in the transparent plate, displacement of the transparent plate itself can be reduced, thereby enabling to prevent failure of the transparent plate. [17] Further, since a shoe is combined at the lower end portion of the transparent plate, only a broken transparent plate can be replaced, without necessity of destroying the concrete foundation.
Brief Description of Drawings [18] Further objects and advantages of the invention can be more fully understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: [19] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a transparent sound proof wall according to an embodiment of the invention;
[20] FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line A-A in FIG. 1;
[21] FIG. 3 is a sectional view showing a transparent sound proof plate according to an embodiment of the invention where the transparent sound proof plate is displaced by a wind load;
[22] FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing a conventional sound proof wall; and
[23] FIG. 5 is a sectional view showing the sound proof wall of FIG. 4 where the wall is displaced under a wind load.
Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention
[24] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the invention will be explained in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, like elements are denoted by like reference characters. Details on well-known elements or functions will be omitted.
[25] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a transparent sound proof wall according to an embodiment of the invention. FIG. 2 is a vertical cross-section of FIG. 2.
[26] Referring to FIG. 1, the transparent sound proof wall according to an embodiment of the invention includes a plurality of transparent plates 10, a gasket 20 connecting the transparent plates 10 with each other, a shoe 30 into which the lower end of the transparent plate 20 is inserted, a concrete foundation 40 embedding the shoe 30, and a plurality of support columns 50 supporting the transparent sound proof plate 10.
[27] The transparent plates 10 are coupled to each other to form a wall, which reflects noises and ultimately reduces the intensity of the noises reaching the sound-receiving point. Literally, the transparent plate 10 is formed of a transparent plate material, which is capable of collecting light from the road side to thereby prevent freezing of the road and thus making snow stacked on the road to rapidly melt out, and simultaneously enabling a wide range of visibility. Therefore, the materials forming the transparent plate 10 are not particularly limited, so long as they have the above characteristics, for example, reinforced acryl, polycarbonate or the like. Preferably, glass materials can be employed, in terms of prevention of a change in the color due to exposure to the outside for a long period of time. More preferably, a composite glass material can be employed, in order to prevention of the entire plate, which may be caused by a localized impact. This composite glass is comprised of an adhesive film and glass plates bonded to both sides of the adhesive film. The transparent plate 10 is formed in the form of a flat plate in terms of economics, but may be formed to have a curvature to provide a variety of appearances.
[28] The gasket 20 is combined to one widthwise end portion of one of adjacent transparent plates and one widthwise end portion of the other one of the adjacent transparent plates, thereby connecting the adjacent transparent plates with each other. That is, the gasket is installed in the connection portion of two transparent plates being connected with each other. Provided at both sides of the gasket 20 is an insert portion 21a and 21b, into which the end portion of the transparent plate 20 is inserted. The respective insert portions 21a and 21b are formed to have at least one protrusion 211 formed at portions contacting with the transparent plate 10. Accordingly, even in cases where the gasket 20 is deformed due to the gravity of force, the connection between the gasket and the transparent plate can remain in a reliable way. It is preferable that the gasket is formed of elastically deformable materials so to respond flexibly to external forces such as a wind force. For example, the gasket is formed of a rubber material. In such case, even if the gasket is exposed to ultraviolet rays for a long period
of time, it is not cured and thus maintains its elasticity and performance. Thus, the gasket may be formed of any materials other than rubber, so long as they have elasticity and are not cured by ultraviolet rays.
[29] The shoe 30 is inserted to the lengthwise lower end portion of the respective transparent plates 10. In this way, the shoe is combined with the lower end portion of the transparent plate, so that when the transparent plate is broken, only the broken transparent plate can be easily replaced, without necessity of destroying the concrete foundation. That is, in the case where the transparent plate is embedded directly into the concrete foundation, when a transparent plate is broken, the corresponding portion of the concrete foundation is to be destroyed and newly made in order to replace the broken transparent plate. In the present invention, however, the shoe is combined to the lower end portion of the transparent plate and then the shoe is inserted into and fixed to the concrete foundation. Thus, the broken transparent plate can be removed by simply detaching the shoe from the concrete foundation. Then, a new transparent plate is inserted into the shoe, which is in turn inserted into the concrete foundation, thereby completing replacement of the transparent plate. That is, the maintenance of the sound proof wall can be easy and simplified. Referring to FIG. 2, the shoe 30 is formed of a metallic material. The shoe 30 includes a receiving portion 31 into which the transparent plate 20 is inserted, and a saucer portion 32 extending horizontally outwards of the upper end of both side plates forming the receiving portion 31. The receiving portion 31 is inserted into the concrete foundation 40. The saucer portion 32 is fixed to the concrete foundation 40 by means of a bolt. In a case where a crevice occurs between the shoe and the transparent plate, a filler material (cement paste or mortar) can be filled in the crevice. In addition, the shoe may be formed of fabric materials, which is made to be wrapped around the lower end portion of the transparent plate, and then the exposed portion thereof may be fixed to the concrete foundation.
[30] The shoe 30 is inserted into the concrete foundation 40, which is installed along the road side where the sound proof wall is installed. For this purpose, the concrete foundation 40 includes a connection groove 41 formed along the lengthwise direction thereof, into which the shoe 30 is to be inserted. The connection groove 41 has a depth to the extent that the transparent plate is erected therein, without falling down when it is installed. Thus, the shoe may be detachably installed in the concrete foundation, and thus can be easily detached from the concrete foundation when the transparent plate is required to be replaced.
[31] In order for the transparent plate not to fall down by external forces such as a wind force, the concrete foundation 40 includes a plurality of support columns 50 installed at regular intervals. In this embodiment, the lower end portion of the transparent plate is inserted into the concrete foundation. Thus, when an external force is exerted thereon,
the transparent plate behaves like a cantilever, one end of which is fixed. Therefore, falling down of the transparent plate can be prevented by installing the support column so as to support only the upper end portion of the transparent plate. In the figures, the support column 50 includes a stem portion 51 and two branch portions 52 branched with a certain angle from the upper end of the stem portion 51. The support column 50 is installed at the rear side (opposite to the road side) in such a manner that the branch portions 52 support the gasket 20 portion (which is installed to connect the transparent plates), i.e., the upper end portion of the connected portion of the transparent plates. The reason why the support column is constructed as above is to provide an appearance as though a free branch supports the transparent plate, simultaneously while providing a function of preventing the transparent plate from falling down. That is, a beauty of town can be improved by giving a change to the sound proof walls. However, the support column is not particularly limited to this construction, but may employ other structures so long as they have a function as a support column and provide an improved appearance. Further, the support column may be installed as supporting directly the widthwise center portion of the transparent plate, not the connection portion of the transparent plates. Furthermore, the support column may be installed in the rear face of the transparent plate along with the front face thereof, considering the road situations and the surrounding environments. In addition, the support column may be installed at regular intervals of two or three transparent plates, not at every connection portion thereof. On the other hand, in a case where the transparent plate has a longer length, well-known H-shape steel can be used as a support column, instead of a specially designed shape. Further, the support column may be installed so as to contact the sound proof plate and be fastened to the transparent plate using a bolt, instead of supporting the upper end portion of the transparent plate. As illustrated in the figures, the support column 40 is connected with the transparent plate 10 in such a way that the branch portion 52 of the support column 50 is fastened to the transparent plate 10 using a bolt. However, it is not limited thereto, but a bolt or adhesive may be employed. As illustrated in the figures, the support column 50 is installed in the concrete foundation 40 in a way that a base plate is combined to the lower end portion of the support column and the base plate is fastened to the concrete foundation using a bolt. However, the lower end portion of the support column may be embedded in the concrete foundation.
[32] As described above, the sound proof wall of the invention is installed as follows. The concrete foundation 40 is installed and then the shoe 30 is combined to the lower end portion of the transparent plate 10. Thereafter, the transparent plate with the shoe is inserted into the concrete foundation. The gasket 20 is inserted between neighboring transparent plate to connect them. The support column 50 is installed so as to support
the transparent plate 10.
[33] FIG. 3 is a sectional view showing a transparent sound proof plate according to an embodiment of the invention where the transparent sound proof plate is displaced by a wind load.
[34] If an external force such as a wind force is applied to the portion of the transparent plates that is connected through the gasket, but not supported by the support column, a deformation occurs in the transparent plate. However, since the gasket connecting the transparent plate is flexible and contractible, the gasket is elastically deformed when the transparent plate is deformed, thereby reducing the deformation of the respective transparent plates. That is, as illustrated in FIG. 3, the connected transparent plate 10 is displaced as much as B (a displacement from the initial state of the transparent plate as shown in a dot line). However, since the connection portion of the transparent plate 10 is bent by the gasket 20, the deformation of the transparent plate 10 itself is reduced. Thus, even if the amount of deformation allowed for the transparent plate not to be broken is small, the real deformation of the transparent plate can be considerably reduced by means of the elastic-deformable gasket, thereby enabling to prevent the transparent plate from being failed. Here, since the insert portions 21a and 21b of the gasket 20 where the transparent plate 10 is inserted is formed with a protrusion 211, the firm engagement between the gasket 20 and the transparent plate 10 can be maintained even if the gasket 20 is deformed by the gravity of force exerted on the transparent plate 10. In this way, the transparent plates, which are connected by an elastic-deformable gasket, allows a displacement within a range satisfying the load- displacement test, thereby maintaining its functions such as sound-proofing, dust- tightening and the like in a stable way, even under the environment where external forces such as a wind force are exerted on the sound proof wall.
[35] While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention. Industrial Applicability
[36] As described above, the transparent sound proof plate according to the present invention allows for collecting light from the road side, thereby preventing freezing of the road and rapidly melting out the snow stacked on the road side. Further, it can provide a feeling of wide visibility and wide opening.
