Brief Description of Drawings
[18] FIG. 1 shows configuration of a free conversation system between mobile terminals according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention
[19] Configuration of a free conversation system between mobile terminals with the foregoing arranged features is illustrated in FIG. 1.
[20] As shown in FIG. 1, the free conversation system between the mobile terminals according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention enables a mobile terminal 10 and another mobile terminal 10' to have free conversation with each other through Internet on the basis of Internet protocol (IP) information.
[21] Each of the mobile terminals 10, 10' is connected to conversion relay 20, 20', connected to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) in a home and functioning as a telephone, through Internet or a wireless communication network. Also, each of the conversion relays 20 and 20' may connect with external devices.
[22] Further, a plurality of mobile terminals 10, 10' may be connected to the conversion realy 20, 20' in the individual home. That is, the conversion relay having a predetermined phone number in the PSTN may connect with mobile terminals used by members of a family (father, mother, son, daughter, and so on) via Internet or the wireless communication network.
[23] Hereinafter, for describing the free conversation system between the mobile terminals 10, 10', the mobile terminal connected to the conversion relay 20 in a certain home will be referred to as a first mobile terminal 10, the conversion relay connecting with the first mobile terminal 10 will be referred to as a first conversion relay 20, the mobile terminal connected to the conversion relay 20' in another home will be referred to as a second mobile terminal 10', and the conversion relay connecting with the second mobile terminal 10' will be referred to as a second conversion relay 20'.
[24] The first mobile terminal 10 calls the first conversion relay 20 through a wireless communication network 40 and transmits its own IP information to the first conversion relay 20. Further, the first mobile terminal 10 receives and stores the IP information of the first conversion relay 20 from the first conversion relay 20 through the Internet 40.
[25] Since the first mobile terminal 10 transmits its own IP information to the first conversion relay 20 and the first conversion relay 20 transmits its own IP information to the first mobile terminal 10, each of the first mobile terminal 10 and the first conversion relay 20 can store and share the IP information of the other party.
[26] In result, the first mobile terminal 10 and the first conversion relay 20 each know the
IP information of the other party, they can transmit and receive various data (moving pictures, still images, sound, texts, letters, multimedia, etc.) via the Internet. That is, the wireless communication network is used only when the IP information is shared at
the beginning, and the previously used Internet can be used in transmitting and receiving data after the IP information is shared.
[27] Thus, after the first mobile terminal 10 and the first conversion relay 20 share the IP information with each other, the first mobile terminal 10 can try to have free conversation with the second mobile terminal 10' connected to the second conversion relay 20' of another home.
[28] The first mobile terminal 10 transmits data containing its own IP information to the first conversion relay 20. The first conversion relay 20 analyzes the data containing the IP information of the first mobile terminal 10, and then connects the first mobile terminal 10 with the second conversion relay 20' through the Internet or the PSTN. Further, the first conversion relay 20 transmits the data containing the IP information of the first mobile terminal 10 to the second conversion relay 20'.
[29] Here, the data containing the IP information, which the first conversion relay 20 receives from the first mobile terminal 10, includes the IP information (referred to as "A") of the first mobile terminal, information about a phone number in the PSTN (referred to as "C") of the second conversion relay 20', and an identification number (referred to as "D") of the second mobile terminal 10' (i.e., the first conversion relay receives the data of "A+C+D" which is called "P").
[30] Meanwhile, the first conversion relay 20 that receives the data ("P") containing the IP information from the first mobile terminal 10 adds its own IP information (referred to as "B") to the received IP information and transmits the data to the second conversion relay 20 (i.e., the data of "P+B" is transmitted to the second conversion relay 20').
[31] The second conversion relay 20' that receives the data ("P+B") containing the IP information from the first conversion relay 20 analyzes the data containing the IP information and transmits the analyzed data containing the IP information to the second mobile terminal 20' through the Internet or the wireless communication network.
[32] At this time, the second conversion relay 20' ascertains the identification number "D" of the mobile terminal, which is contained in the received data, and connects with the second mobile terminal 10' corresponding to the identification number "D", thereby transmitting the data containing the IP information to the second mobile terminal 10'.
[33] The data containing the IP information transmitted from the second conversion relay
20' to the second mobile terminal 10' includes the IP informaiton "A" of the first mobile terminal 10 and the IP information "B" of the first conversion relay 20.
[34] The second mobile terminal 10' that receives the data containing the IP information
"A" of the first mobile terminal 10 analyzes the data received from the second conversion relay 20' and finds out the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10, thereby performing the free conversation with the first mobile terminal 10 through the Internet on the basis of the found IP information.
[35] Consequently, the PSTN or the wireless communication network is used for a short time until the conversation between the first mobile terminal 10 and the second mobile terminal 10' is enabled, but the free conversation is unlimitedly possible using the Internet after the first mobile terminal 10 and the second mobile terminal 10' are connected.
[36] In the above-described system, the first mobile terminal 10 tries to connect with the second mobile terminal 10', but not limited thereto. Alternatively, the second mobile terminal 10' may try to connect with the first mobile terminal 10 under the same system.
[37] Also, the free conversation is possible between the mobile terminals connected to the first conversion relay 10. Specifically, if the first mobile terminal 10 sends the first conversion relay 20 its own IP information "A" and data about a wireless phone number of a different mobile terminal connected to the first conversion relay 20, the first conversion relay 20 calls the different mobile terminal and transmits the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10 and its own IP information "B". Then, the different mobile terminal knows the IP information of the first mobile terminal 10, so that the free conversation can be performed between the first mobile terminal 10 and the different mobile terminal connected to the first conversion relay 20 via the Internet. Consequently, the free conversation is possible among the mobile terminals corresponding to the members of the family, connected to the conversion relay in one home.
[38] In the meantime, the external device 30 may be connected to the conversion relay 20,
20' provided in each home. The external device 30 may include various analog and digital devices such as a digital versatile disc (DVD) and compact disc (CD) player, a video cassette recorder, a radio or television tuner, a computer system, a home automation system, a closed-circuit television (CCTV), a set- top box, a home theater, etc., which can provide diverse contents to the conversion relay 20, 20'.
[39] The first mobile terminal 10 and the second mobile terminal 10' between which the free Internet conversation is enabled by sharing the IP information of the other party may access the external device 30 connected to the conversion relay connecting with the mobile terminal of the other party during the conversation.
[40] Accordingly, the second mobile terminal 10' knows not only the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10 but also the IP information "B" of the first conversion relay 20 connected to the first mobile terminal 10, so that it can be connected to the first conversion relay 20 via the Internet on the basis of the IP information "B" of the first conversion relay 20 when accepted by the first mobile terminal 10, thereby receiving contents stored in the first conversion relay 20 or input from the external device 30 connected to the first conversion relay 20.
Mode for the Invention
[41] Below, an embodiment of a free conversation method between the mobile terminals using the foregoing system will be described.
[42] First, the first mobile terminal 10 and the first conversion relay 20 share their own IP information with each other through the PSTN or the Internet. If the IP information is shared, IP can be shared by various methods.
[43] For example, if the first mobile terminal 10 calls a phone number of the first conversion relay 20 in the PSTN and connects call therewith, the first conversion relay 20 transmits a voice message that a passowrd is needed. The reason why the password is needed is to prevent someone except the members of the family belonging to the first conversion relay 20 from accessing the first conversion relay 20.
[44] In response to the message, if the password is input through the first mobile terminal
10, the IP information of the first mobile terminal 10 together with the password is transmitted to the first conversion relay 20. When the input password is equal to a previously registered password, the first conversion relay 20 stores the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10 and transmits its own IP information "B" to the first mobile terminal 10 via the Internet.
[45] The first conversion relay 20 knows the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10, so that it can transmit its own IP information "B" to the first mobile terminal 10 through the Internet. The transmitted IP information of the first conversion relay 20 is stored in the first mobile terminal 10. Thus, the first mobile terminal 10 and the first conversion relay 20 share the IP information with each other, and thereafter they can transmit and receive various data (moving pictures, still images, sounds, texts, letters, multimedia, etc.) without pay through the Internet.
[46] As described above, after the first mobile terminal 10 and the first conversion relay
20 share the IP information with each other, the first mobile terminal 10 may try to have conversation with the second mobile terminal 10' connected to the second conversion relay 20' provided in a different home, and also try to have conversation with another mobile terminal connected to the first conversion relay 20 and used by another member of the family.
[47] To try to have the conversation with the second mobile terminal 10' or another mobile terminal used by the member of the family, the first mobile terminal 10 transmits the data containing its own IP information to the first conversion relay 20.
[48] The data transmitted from the first mobile terminal 10 to the first conversion relay 20 includes the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10, the information "C" about a phone number of the second conversion relay 20' in the PSTN, and the identification number "D" of the second mobile terminal 10'.
[49] The first conversion relay 20 receives and analyzes the foregoing data and tries to connect with the phone number "C" of the second conversion relay 20' in the PSTN, which is contained in the data. Then, if the connection is successful, the first conversion relay 20 transmits the data containing its own IP information "B" to the second conversion relay 20'.
[50] That is, the first conversion relay 20 transmits the data containing the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10, its own IP information "B", and the identification information "D" of the second mobile terminal 10' to the second conversion relay 20'.
[51] The second conversion relay 20' receives and analyzes the data containing the IP information, and connects with the second mobile terminal 10', thereby transmitting the data containing the IP information to the second mobile terminal 10'.
[52] That is, the second conversion relay 20' analyzes the data by comparing the identification number cotained in the data with the previously stored identification information, and calls for the second mobile terminal 10' corresponding to the matched identification number, thereby transmitting the IP information "A" of the first mobile termianl 10 and the IP information "B" of the first conversion relay 20 to the second mobile terminal 10'.
[53] The identification numbers stored in the second conversion relay 20' are stored in the following forms. [54] Table 1 [Table 1] [Table ]
[55] For example, if the identification number received in the second conversion relay 20' is 01, the second conversion relay 20' calls for the second mobile terminal of a member of the family who has a phone number of 011 -XXX-XXXX, and transmits the IP information of the first mobile terminal 10 and the IP information of the second conversion relay 20 to the second mobile terminal 10'.
[56] The second mobile termianl 10' receives and stores the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10 and the IP information "B" of the first conversion relay 20 from the second conversion relay 20', and has the free conversation with the first mobile terminal 10 on the basis of the IP information "A" of the first mobile terminal 10 via the Internet.
[57] That is, the second mobile terminal 10' can transmit voice data through the Internet
since it knows the IP information of the first mobile terminal 10. Consequently, the first mobile terminal 10 also finds out the IP information of the second mobile terminal 10', so that the first mobile terminal 10 and the second mobile terminal 10' can have the free conversation through the Internet while sharing the IP information with each other.
[58] While implementing the free conversation using the Internet between the first mobile terminal 10 and the second mobile terminal 10', the second mobile termianl 10' may receive the contents stored in the first conversion relay 20 or input from the external device connected to the first conversion relay 20.
[59] Because the second mobile terminal 10' also stores the IP information of the first conversion relay 20, it can receive the contents stored in the first conversion relay 20 or input from the external device connected to the first conversion relay 20 via the Internet. However, the second mobile terminal 10' can access the external device connected to the first conversion relay 20 only if the first mobile terminal 10 accepts it. The acceptance may be achieved by converting the external device to be shared.
[60] By the foregoing method, the free conversation or the free communication is possible.
[61] With the free conversation system and method between the mobile terminals according to the foregoing configurations and embodiments of the present invention, the mobile terminals to participate in the conversation share the IP information of the other party with each other so that it is advantageous to have the free converation using the Internet, and the contents stored in the conversion relay or input from the external device connected to the conversion relay can be transmitted via the Internet since it is possible to find out the IP information of the conversion relay connecting with the mobilt terminal of the other party. Industrial Applicability
