Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 29 March 2010 (29.03.2010)WE CLAIM:
1. A utility computing system adapted to provide utility computing in a cloud computing environment wherein the improvement comprising: client side computing device connected to the internet adapted to act as an interface to users for providing applications and services; one or more servers placed in server farms; and network means adapted to operatively connect said client side computing device to said server farm and proactively managing said network, wherein said client side computing device includes Desktop Management Component and Network Tracking Component, wherein said client side computing device runs a set of applications and utilities to ensure that the user has access to his/her application/service of interest,
Wherein said applications are provided dynamically across different bandwidths, wherein said components at server side comprising: Authentication Component;
Software Synchronization Component;
Subscription Component;
Desktop Management Component;
Online Help Component; Billing and Payment Component;
Applications and Services Component;
Usage Tracking Component;
32 ^rental Control Component; and User Portal Component
Wherein said system enables applications and/or services that are accessed through diverse operating systems can be selectively and dynamically added, accessed and managed from anywhere, and Wherein said system measures the network characteristics including bandwidth, latency and packet losses.
2. A utility computing system as claimed in claim 1, wherein said client side computing device provides for accessing to said applications and services across operating systems at the said client side computing device without any requirement of installation, maintenance and upgrade at the said server side and client side for the system's end users.
3. A utility computing system as claimed in anyone of claims lor 2, wherein said client side computing device is adapted for self managing to strictly control against unauthorized access and with means to tracks its state and synchronizes with said software synchronization component.
4. A utility computing system as claimed in anyone of claims 1 to 3, wherein said client side computing device is made tamper proof thereby increasing security against user mistakes and intervention by securing the BIOS in the client side, wherein said BIOS is secured by making it dependent on the native secure operating system and using encryption in the invocation of said operating system.
33
5. A utility computing system as claimed in anyone of claims 1 to 4, wherein said client side computing device has an auto registration system which automatically registers the users to the utility cloud computing environment on the first boot-up.
6. A utility computing system as claimed in anyone of claims 1 to 5, said billing and payment component accepts and keeps track of the payments that the user does as subscription for services accepted and said component deals with other modes of prepaid and postpaid billing and payments.
