  • the prior art container comprises a container body and a cap which fits to the container body so as to close the container body.
  • Two similar containers can be fixed to each other by screwing a threaded lower end portion of the container body of one container onto a mating thread on the cap of a further container.
  • the present invention aims to provide a simplified container.
  • the fixing member is separate from the closing member.
  • a container can be emptied and the closing member can be thrown away, whereas two or more containers can still be fixed to each other.
  • This is advantageous in case of small beverage bottles, for example, which are emptied in short time after opening them without the necessity of closing them again before fixing the bottles together.
  • the containers can be fixed to each other both with and without the presence of a closing member at the container.
  • the container according to the invention is not only functional in terms of easily fixing several of such containers together, but also provides the opportunity to form an attractive way of piling bottles so as to form a pipe-shaped structure. It is expected that the container may even become a collector' s item.
  • the fixing member comprises a screw thread, because this facilitates the fixing handling for a user.
  • alternative fixing members may be present.
  • the closing member may be at least partly enveloped by the fixing member when the container is closed by the closing member. This configuration provides a compact end portion as seen along a longitudinal centre line of the container at the location of the closing member. It reduces the required space of a recess at an end portion of the container which receives the end portion of a further container close to the fixing member.
  • the container may be shaped such that side walls of two similar containers at the adjacent end portions thereof are aligned in a fixed condition. This may create a cylindrical pipe-shaped structure in case of cylindrical bottles, for example.
  • a portion of a longitudinal centre line of the container at one end portion is angled with respect to a portion of the longitudinal centre line at the other end portion of the container. This provides the opportunity to build at least a two-dimensional piping structure .
  • the container is provided with at least three end portions, wherein each of the end portions is provided with a fixing member. This provides the opportunity to build a branched piping structure.
  • the end portions may be oriented such that a T-shaped or Y-shaped container is formed, for example.
  • the container may be provided with a plurality of compartments for containing different substances. This may create a special visual effect, for example when filling the compartments with differently coloured liquids in case of transparent containers.
  • Each of the compartments may have its own closing member. As the closing member is separate from the fixing member this has no influence on fixing the containers to each other.
  • the invention is also related to a set of containers, which comprise a plurality of containers as described hereinbefore, which containers are attachable to each other through their fixing members.
  • FIG. 1 is a side view of an embodiment of a container and of parts of two cooperating containers according to the invention.
  • Fig. 2 is a similar view as Fig. 1, illustrating the containers in an attached condition.
  • Figs. 3-7 are side views of alternative embodiments of the container according to the invention.
  • Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of a container 1 and parts of two similar containers 1, which can be fixed to each other as shown in Fig. 2.
  • the containers 1 are transparent cylindrical bottles, but a great variety of alternative containers 1 are conceivable.
  • the embodiment of the container 1 comprises two end portions 2, 3: an upper end portion 2 and a lower end portion 3.
  • the container 1 is provided with screw threads 4, 5 as fixing members, respectively.
  • the upper end portion 2 comprises an external screw thread 4 and the lower end portion 3 comprises a recess 6 including an internal screw thread 5. Due to the fixing members 4, 5 the containers 1 can be screwed onto each other.
  • the upper end portion 2 of a first container 1 can be fixed to the lower end portion 3 of a second container 1, and the lower end portion 3 of the first container 1 can be fixed to the upper end portion 2 of a third container
  • the recess 6 at the lower end portion 3 is shaped such that the upper end portion 2 of an adjacent bottle 1 fits therein.
  • the lower end portion 3 of the container 1 is shaped such that the container 1 can stand on a substantially flat floor or table or the like. Nevertheless, alternative shapes are conceivable.
  • the upper end portion 2 of the embodiment of the container 1 as shown in Fig. 1 has a smaller circumference than the remainder of the container 1.
  • Fig. 1 shows that the container 1 is provided with a closing member 7 at the upper end portion 2 of the container 1.
  • the closing member 7 serves to close and/or open the container 1.
  • the closing member 7 is provided with an external screw thread which fits in a mating internal screw thread provided in a hole of the container 1 at the upper end portion 2 thereof. It is conceivable that the closing member 7 is located at an alternative location of the container 1. It is also possible that the closing member 7 is a traditional cap of a beverage bottle, for example, and that the cap fits in the recess 6 at the lower end portion 3 of an adjacent bottle 1. Alternatively, the closing member 7 may be removable from the container 1, but not replaceable to the container 1, such as in case of traditional beverage cans.
  • the closing member 7 can be thrown away after opening the container 1, for example, but the containers 1 can still be attached to each other.
  • the closing member 7 and the upper end portion 2 of the bottle 1 are shaped such that the upper side of the bottle 1 is substantially flat.
  • the screw thread 4 at the upper end portion 2 may be located at substantially the same level as the closing member 7 as seen in a direction along a longitudinal centre line 9; in other words the closing member 7 is surrounded by the screw thread 4.
  • Fig. 3-7 show alternative embodiments of the container 1 according to the invention.
  • Fig. 3 is a bottle which has an angled longitudinal centre line 9.
  • the portion of the longitudinal centre line 9 at the upper end portion 2 is angled with respect to the portion of the longitudinal centre line 9 at the lower end portion 3 of the container 1.
  • the embodiment of Fig. 4 has a T-shape and comprises three end portions: the upper end portion 2, the lower end portion 3 and a side end portion 8.
  • the fixing members at the side end portion 8 is formed by an external screw thread, but this may be an internal screw thread comparable to that located at the lower end portion 3, if desired.
  • Fig. 5 shows an embodiment including three end portions, but the container 1 forms a Y-shape.
  • the embodiment of Fig. 6 has a U-shape and comprises two end portions.
  • the embodiment of Fig. 7 has a + or X-shape and comprises four end portions including fixing members.
  • the filled or empty containers 1 can be screwed onto each other both with and without closing member 7 so as to form a pipe-shaped structure as shown in Fig. 2. This is caused by the fact that the closing member 7 is separate from the fixing members 4, 5.
  • a non-linear branched pipe structure possibly in three dimensions, can be built.
  • the applicant has called the building action 'join the pipe 1 , indicating the action of adding a bottle to other bottles after emptying a bottle in order to build up the pipe.
  • the containers 1 may be filled with a liguid 10 or any other substance.
  • the containers may be made of glass or plastic or the like.
  • the container 1 may be provided with a plurality of compartments, which can be filled with different substances, for example. Each compartment may be closed by separate closing members 7, but this is not essential.
  • the invention provides a simple container which provides the opportunity to build up a pipe structure with other containers having similar properties, whereas the closing member is not needed for coupling two containers to each other.
  • a particular container may be configured such that the end portions of the container may have identical fixing members, for example external screw threads.
  • the width of the upper end portion may be selected smaller with respect to that of the remainder of the container than shown in the figures.
  • the screw threads may be replaced by bayonet fittings, a snap-in mechanism or alternative fixing members .

Abstract

L'invention concerne un contenant (1) destiné à contenir une substance, ledit contenant (1) comportant au moins deux parties d'extrémité (2, 3). Chacune des parties d'extrémité (2, 3) comporte un élément de fixation (4, 5) pour fixer un autre contenant (1) sur le contenant (1). Le contenant (1) comporte également un élément de fermeture libérable (7) destiné à fermer et/ou ouvrir le contenant (1). L'élément de fixation (4, 5) est séparé de l'élément de fermeture (7).
