Abstract

According to prior art, impurities are removed from water by attaching said impurities to solid matter. According to the invention, a finely ground inert substance is used and said inert substance is functionalised on the surfaces thereof, said functionalised surfaces being brought into contact with the water that is to be purified such that said impurities attach to the functionalised surfaces. Said inert substance and the impurities attached to the surfaces can be subsequently separated from the purified water by means of a physical separation method.
