Abstract

본 발명인 조리개식 가변밸브는 관의 내부 또는 관의 말단부에 부착하여 관을 따라 흐르는 액체, 또는 기체인 유체의 유량 또는 유압을 가변적으로 조절할 수 있는 것이다. 하나의 사용 예로, 본 발명인 밸브를 엔진 회전속도(RPM)에 따라 배기가스의 유량이 변하는 자동차 배기시스템에 부착하여 배압(대기압과의 차압, back-pressure)을 가변적으로 조절함으로써, 자동차의 배기소음을 제어할 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명인 밸브를 유량계에 적용함으로써 적은 유량에서 큰 유량까지 넓은 범위의 유량을 측정할 수 있다. 본 발명인 밸브의 작동원리는 초기에 스프링의 탄성력에 의해 일정한 크기로 열려 있던 조리개판들을 수축 또는 이완시켜 유로의 단면적을 제어하는 것이다. 발명인 조리개식 가변밸브는 종래의 원판식 가변밸브에 비하여 유량 또는 유압을 선형적으로 조절하는 것이 용이하고, 압력손실과 유동소음의 발생이 적다. 그리고, 아주 단순한 방법으로 유량 또는 유압의 제어가 가능하여 제어시스템의 구성이 용이하다.
