 近年、家庭用の電子機器などにおいては、そのデザイン性を生かし、非使用時などにインテリアの一部として活用できるような製品の開発が要求されている。
 中でも、テレビジョン受像機は、昨今の大型化にともないその存在感が大きくなっており、上記要求がより強くなっている。
 そこで、テレビジョン受像機では、例えば、フレーム構造体の色を選択可能とするなどにより、そのインテリア性を向上させる試みなどがなされている。
 しかし、テレビジョン受像機では、その外観の大部分を占める表示領域から受ける印象が強く、上記試みのみでは、インテリア性の向上には限度がある。
 そこで、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に関する改良が望まれている。
 以下、上記表示領域が液晶表示装置の画面で構成されているテレビジョン受像機を例にして、具体的に説明する。
 上記液晶表示装置が用いられたテレビジョン受像機は、その軽薄性から、壁に設置される場合がある。
 また、上記液晶表示装置の画面は、その表示がオフの場合には、全面黒色である。
 そのため、壁に設置されたテレビジョン受像機がオフである場合には、壁に黒い物体が存在することになる。
 そして、この壁の黒い物体により、インテリア性を損ねることになる。さらには、最近のテレビジョン受像機の大型化にともない、よりインテリア性を損ねることになっている。
 そこで、テレビジョン受像機には、放送やビデオなどの画像データを表示するという本来の機能以外にも、上記本来の機能を使用しない時などに、テレビジョン受像機をインテリアの一部として活用できるように、装飾用画像などを表示するモードを備える必要性が高まっている。
 また、インテリア性をさらに向上させるためには、上記装飾用画像などを表示する時において、テレビジョン受像機の実体であるフレーム構造体をより目立たなくする必要性もある。
 インテリアとして、例えば、本物の絵画を室内装飾に利用する場合においての不便性(掛け替えに手間が大きい、掛けない絵画を保管するスペースが必要、絵画と額縁の相性など)を考慮し、従来から、フラット型の表示手段を用いた室内装飾用ディスプレイなどが提案されている。
 例えば、特許文献1には、フラット型の表示手段として液晶表示装置を用いた室内装飾用ディスプレイについて記載されている。

 上記構成の室内装飾用ディスプレイは、上記液晶パネル221b周縁部分の非表示領域を見えなくすることができるとともに、表示領域に表示する絵画などの装飾用画像と額縁模様とを自由自在に変えて、組み合わせることが可能であるため、優れた室内装飾用途のディスプレイとなる。

 しかしながら、上記特許文献1に記載されている室内装飾用ディスプレイにおいては、上記保護パネル222の周縁部分に設けられるレンズ状部分によって、上述したように上記液晶パネル221b周縁部分の非表示領域を見えなくすることができるという利点を有しているが、その一方で、表示領域の周縁部の画像が歪んで表示されるという問題点を有している。
 室内装飾用ディスプレイにおいては、表示領域の周縁部の画像が歪んで表示されたとしても、丁度その部分が、額縁表示領域となるので、特に問題にはならない。
 しかし、テレビジョン受像機をインテリアの一部として活用できるように、装飾用画像を表示するモードを備えたテレビジョン受像機に、上記特許文献1のレンズ状構成を用いると、通常のテレビジョン視聴時に、表示領域の周縁部の画像が歪んで見えるという大きな問題が発生する。
 したがって、上記特許文献1のレンズ状構成は、装飾用途専用のディスプレイには適用可能であるが、装飾用途と視聴用途とを兼ね備えるテレビジョン受像機などには適用できないという問題がある。
 また、さらには、上記特許文献1の構成は、レンズを用いて、非表示領域を見えなくする構成であるため、上記テレビジョン受像機の実体であるフレーム構造体をより目立たなくするための工夫などはなされてない。
 本発明は、上記の問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に、絵画や写真などの装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、テレビジョン受像機の耐久性などを考慮した時に欠かすことのできない構成であるテレビジョン受像機の実体のフレーム構造体をより目立たなくすることができ、上記装飾用画像が本物の額縁を有するように表示させ、インテリアの一部として活用することのできるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を提供することを目的とする。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、上記の課題を解決するために、フレーム構造体と、上記フレーム構造体の内側に、画像を表示する表示領域とを有するテレビジョン受像機において、上記表示領域に装飾用画像が表示されるときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁が表示され、上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色とは、少なくとも一色が、互いに、同じ系統の色であることを特徴としている。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法は、上記の課題を解決するために、フレーム構造体と、上記フレーム構造体の内側に、画像を表示する表示領域とを有するテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁を表示し、上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色との少なくとも一色を、互いに、同じ系統の色とすることを特徴としている。
 上記構成によれば、上記表示領域に絵画や写真などの装飾用画像が表示されるときには、テレビジョン受像機の耐久性などを考慮した時に欠かすことのできない構成であるテレビジョン受像機の実体のフレーム構造体と、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に表示される装飾用額縁との両方が、上記装飾用画像の額縁として見える。
 その際、装飾用額縁の色とフレーム構造体の色とは、少なくとも一色が、互いに、同じ系統の色であることにより、フレーム構造体と装飾用額縁とが同化しているかのように観者に見せることができる。
 すなわち、装飾用額縁の色をフレーム構造体の色と近い色とし、あたかも実体のフレーム構造体と表示された装飾用額縁とが一体化しているように見せ、フレーム構造体を目立たなくすることができる。
 別の観点から説明すると、例えば、装飾用画像に応じた、好ましい装飾用額縁の色や平面的・立体的模様が想定される場合、その好ましい装飾用額縁の色とフレーム構造体の色とが大きく異なっているときには、テレビジョン受像機の観者は、違和感を感じ易くなる。これは、装飾用額縁の外側に、装飾用額縁と視覚的に異なるフレーム構造体が見えるためである。
 この点、上記の構成によれば、装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色との少なくとも一色が互いに同じ系統の色である。そのため、テレビジョン受像機の観者がフレーム構造体から受ける違和感を減少させることができる。
 ここで、上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色とにおいて、少なくとも一色が、互いに、同じ系統の色であるとは、上記フレーム構造体を構成する色の少なくとも一色と同じ系統の色が、上記装飾用額縁の色の少なくとも一色を構成すること、または、上記装飾用額縁を構成する色の少なくとも一色と同じ系統の色が、上記フレーム構造体の色の少なくとも一色を構成することを意味する。
 また、上記同じ系統の色であるとは、それぞれの色が共通した色相を有して構成されていることを意味する。例えば、赤の同じ系統の色には、赤、赤みの紫、赤紫、紫みの赤、黄みの赤、黄赤、赤みの黄などのように赤を共通した色相として有する色全てが含まれる。また、無彩色である白、灰、黒などは全て同じ系統の色である。
 以上より、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、フレーム構造体を目立たなくすることができ、上記装飾用画像の額縁をより本物らしく見せることができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 なお、上記装飾用画像とは、絵画や写真などの装飾を目的とした画像を意味する。ここで、絵画とは、例えば、紙やカンバスなどに描かれたり印刷されたりした絵などを意味する。また、写真とは、例えば、紙などに印画されたり印刷されたりした撮影物などを意味する。
 また、上記装飾用画像は、例えば、上記テレビジョン受像機の観者が、上記テレビジョン受像機をインテリアの一部として活用するために、上記装飾用画像を表示するモードであるピクチャーモードを選択した時に表示される画像である。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記同じ系統の色は、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、上記マンセル色相環上で隣り合う色相であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記同じ系統の色を、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、上記マンセル色相環上で隣り合う色相とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成においての同じ系統の色とは、10色相のマンセル色相環により決まるものであり、互いに隣り合う色相である。例えば、紫の同じ系統の色は、上記10色相のマンセル色相環により、赤紫と青紫とになる。
 上記構成によれば、装飾用額縁の色とフレーム構造体の色とを、同じ系統の色で構成することができるので、フレーム構造体をより目立たなくすることができる。
 したがって、上記構成とすることにより、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、フレーム構造体をより目立たなくすることができ、上記装飾用画像の額縁をさらに本物らしく見せることができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 なお、上記マンセル色相環は、色の三属性の一つである色相をもとに、番号や記号で分類したものであり、マンセル表色系は、「三属性による色の表示方法」としてJIS(JISZ8721)でも採用されている。さらに詳しくは後述する。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記同じ系統の色は、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、同じ色相であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記同じ系統の色を、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、同じ色相とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、装飾用額縁の色とフレーム構造体の色とは、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、同じ色相で構成されている。そのため、フレーム構造体をさらに目立たなくすることができる。
 したがって、上記のような構成とすることにより、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、フレーム構造体をより目立たなくすることができ、上記装飾用画像の額縁をさらに本物らしく見せることができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記同じ系統の色は、無彩色であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記同じ系統の色を、無彩色とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、装飾用額縁の色とフレーム構造体の色とが、無彩色である白、灰、黒などの同じ系統の色で構成される。
 したがって、上記のような構成とすることにより、例えば、白黒の装飾用画像などによく合う構成とすることができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記同じ系統の色は、同じ明度であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記同じ系統の色を、同じ明度とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、物体表面の相対的な明暗に関する色の属性である明度が同じであるため、上記フレーム構造体をさらに目立たなくすることができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記装飾用額縁の幅は、上記フレーム構造体の幅の1倍以上であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記装飾用額縁の幅を、上記フレーム構造体の幅の1倍以上とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記表示領域に装飾用画像が表示されるときには、テレビジョン受像機の耐久性などを考慮した時に欠かすことのできない構成であるテレビジョン受像機の実体のフレーム構造体と装飾用額縁との両方が、上記装飾用画像の額縁となる。
 そして、装飾用額縁の幅をフレーム構造体の幅の1倍以上とすることにより、フレーム構造体が目立たなくなる。
 すなわち、上記装飾用画像の額縁としては、装飾用額縁のみが目立って見えるのである。
 したがって、上記のような構成とすることにより、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、フレーム構造体をより目立たなくすることができ、上記装飾用画像の額縁をより本物らしく見せることができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記装飾用額縁の幅は、上記フレーム構造体の幅の5倍以下であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、上記装飾用額縁の幅を、上記フレーム構造体の幅の5倍以下とすることが好ましい。
 上述したように、装飾用額縁の幅をフレーム構造体の幅の1倍以上とすることにより、フレーム構造体の幅が目立たなくなる。
 しかし、装飾用額縁の幅をあまりにも太くすると、上記装飾用画像の大きさとの対比上、額縁の占める割合が大きくなるので、観者は違和感を持つようになり、見た目の美しさが大きく落ちることとなる。
 したがって、上記構成のように、装飾用額縁の幅をフレーム構造体の幅の5倍以下とすることにより、フレーム構造体の幅が目立たなくなるとともに、さらには、装飾用額縁の幅があまりにも太くなることを防ぐことが可能となるので、見た目の美しさを維持することのできるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機において、上記フレーム構造体の幅は、5mm以上85mm以下であることが好ましい。
 上記フレーム構造体の幅が5mm以下だと強度が不足し、耐久性を有するテレビジョン受像機を実現するのが困難である。
 一方、上記フレーム構造体の幅が85mm以上になると、美観を損ねることとなる。
 したがって、上記構成のように、上記フレーム構造体の幅を、5mm以上85mm以下とすることにより、耐久性を備えるとともに見た目の美しさを維持することのできるテレビジョン受像機を実現することができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁との間に、さらに、余白画像が表示されることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法は、上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁との間に、さらに、余白画像を表示することが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁との間に、さらに、余白画像が表示されるので、装飾用画像をさらに本物に近い表示とすることができる。
 すなわち、例えば、版画などのようにその周縁部に余白が含まれていた方がより自然に見える上記装飾用画像には、上記構成を用いることで、上記装飾用画像をさらに本物に近い表示とすることができる。
 したがって、上記装飾用画像をより本物らしく表示することができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 上記余白画像としては、例えば、上記装飾用画像が絵画の場合は、絵画紙の余白を表示することができ、上記装飾用画像が写真である場合には、印画紙の余白を表示することができる。上記例は例示的記述であり、本発明がこれらに限定されるわけではない。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度が50cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、上記余白画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度が50cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法は、上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度を50cd/m以下とすることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法は、上記余白画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度を50cd/m以下とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度が極めて低いので、上記テレビジョン受像機の観者には、発光色ではなく、反射色を見ているように感じさせることができる。言い換えると、映し出された映像ではなく、紙等に描かれた実物を見ているように感じさせることができる。
 また、さらには、装飾用画像と装飾用額縁との間に表示される余白画像の表示領域の表面輝度をも極めて低くすることができる。
 上記のような構成とすることにより、上記装飾用画像や余白画像をさらに本物らしく見せることができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、上記表面輝度が30cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法は、上記表面輝度を30cd/m以下とすることを特徴とすることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記表面輝度が30cd/m以下であるので、例えば外光輝度が100cd/m以下のように暗いときでも、上記表示領域に表示される上記装飾用画像や余白画像が、紙等に描かれた実物を見ているように感じさせることができる。
 したがって、たとえ暗いところであっても、上記装飾用画像や余白画像をさらに本物らしく表示することができるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を実現することができる。
 本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、以上のように、上記表示領域に装飾用画像が表示されるときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁が表示され、上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色とは、少なくとも一色が、互いに、同じ系統の色であるものである。
 また、本発明のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法は、以上のように、上記表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁を表示し、上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色との少なくとも一色を、互いに、同じ系統の色とすることを特徴とする方法である。
 それゆえ、テレビジョン受像機の表示領域に、絵画や写真などの装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、テレビジョン受像機の耐久性などを考慮した時に欠かすことのできない構成であるテレビジョン受像機の実体のフレーム構造体をより目立たなくすることができるという効果を奏するとともに、さらには、上記装飾用画像が本物の額縁を有するように表示させ、インテリアの一部として活用することのできるテレビジョン受像機、及び、テレビジョン受像機の駆動方法を提供することができるという効果を奏する。

 以下、本発明の一実施の形態においては、テレビジョン受像機として、表示領域が液晶表示装置の画面で構成されている液晶テレビジョン受像機を例に挙げて詳しく説明する。
 上記液晶表示装置が用いられた液晶テレビジョン受像機は、その軽薄性から、壁に設置することも可能である。
 しかし、上記液晶表示装置の画面は、その表示がオフの場合には、全面黒色であるため、壁に設置されたテレビジョン受像機がオフである場合には、壁に黒い物体が存在することになる。
 よって、この壁の黒い物体により、インテリア性を損ねることになる。さらには、最近のテレビジョン受像機の大型化にともない、よりインテリア性を損ねることになっている。
 したがって、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機には、放送やビデオなどの画像データを表示するという本来の機能以外にも、上記本来の機能を使用しない時などに、上記テレビジョン受像機をインテリアの一部として活用できるように、装飾用画像などを表示するモード(ピクチャーモード)が備えられている。
 また、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機には、インテリア性をさらに向上させるために、上記装飾用画像などを表示する時において、上記テレビジョン受像機の実体であるフレーム構造体をより目立たなくする機能も備えられている。
 以下、図1~9に基づいて本発明の実施の形態について例示的に詳しく説明する。ただし、この実施の形態に記載されている構成部品の寸法、材質、形状、その相対配置などは、特に限定的な記載がない限り、この発明の範囲をそれのみに限定する趣旨ではなく、単なる説明例に過ぎない。
 〔実施の形態〕
 <装飾用額縁の色とフレーム構造体の色>
 図1~5は、ピクチャーモード使用時の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を壁2に掛けた様子を示す図である。
 図6は、20色相のマンセル色相環を示す図である。
 本実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1は、インテリア性をさらに向上させるために、上記装飾用画像などを表示する時において、上記テレビジョン受像機1の実体であるフレーム構造体4をより目立たなくするために、上記テレビジョン受像機1の装飾用額縁5の色とフレーム構造体4の色とを同じ系統の色とする構成である。
 本実施の形態において、上記同じ系統の色とは、無彩色である場合は、白、灰、黒など全てを同じ系統の色とし、有彩色である場合は、図6に図示されている20色相のマンセル色相環のうち色相環の外側に記載した10色相を利用し、その色相と同じ色相または、隣り合う色相を上記同じ系統の色とする。尚、20色相を利用して、同じ色相または隣り合う色相を上記同じ系統の色としても良い。20色相を利用した方が、よりフレーム構造体4を目立たなくすることができる。
 以下、図1~5に基づいて、上記フレーム構造体4が無彩色である場合を例に挙げてさらに詳しく説明する。
 図1の(a)および図1の(b)は、上記フレーム構造体4の色が白色であり、上記装飾用額縁5の色としては、その同じ系統の色である白色を用いた場合の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を示す。
 図2の(a)および図2の(b)は、上記フレーム構造体4の色が黒色であり、上記装飾用額縁5の色としては、その同じ系統の色である黒色を用いた場合の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を示す。
 なお、図1および図2において、点線はフレーム構造体4と装飾用額縁5とを区別するために示したものである。
 図3の(a)および図3の(b)は、上記フレーム構造体4の色が黒色であり、上記装飾用額縁5の色としては、その同じ系統の色である灰色を用いた場合の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を示す。
 図4は、上記フレーム構造体4の色が黒色であり、さらには、上記フレーム構造体4には、白色の模様8があるとともに、上記装飾用額縁5の色としては、上記フレーム構造体4の色または、上記模様8の色と同じ系統の色である白色を用いた場合の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を示す。
 図5は、上記フレーム構造体4の色が黒色であり、上記装飾用額縁5の色としては、その同じ系統の色で構成される白色から黒色のグラデーションを用いた場合の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を示す。
 上述した組み合わせは、本発明の実施の形態を説明するための例示的なものである。
 以上のように、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1においては、詳しくは後述する表示モード切り換え操作部100が、装飾用画像を表示するためのピクチャーモードとなっている場合、画像データ算出部80によって画像処理された画像データが算出および生成され、上記装飾用画像の周縁部には、フレーム構造体4の色と同じ系統の色を含むように予め定められた装飾用額縁5が表示される構成となっている。
 以下、図面は省略するが、上記フレーム構造体4が有彩色である場合を例に挙げてさらに詳しく説明する。
 例えば、上記フレーム構造体4が図6の20色相のマンセル色相環で赤紫色相5RP(RedPurple)である場合は、図6の20色相のマンセル色相環に図示されているように、5RP、10P(Purple)及び10RPが同じ色相または隣り合う色相となるので、5RP、10P及び10RPが同じ系統の色となる。
 したがって、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1においては、詳しくは後述する表示モード切り換え操作部100が、装飾用画像を表示するためのピクチャーモードとなっている場合、画像データ算出部80によって画像処理された画像データが算出および生成され、上記装飾用画像の周縁部には、上記液晶テレビジョン受像機1のフレーム構造体4の色である赤紫色相5RPと同じ系統の色を少なくとも一色含むように予め定められた装飾用額縁5が表示される構成となっている。
 上記構成によれば、装飾用額縁5の色とフレーム構造体4の色とを、同じ系統の色で構成することができるので、フレーム構造体4をより目立たなくすることができる。
 ここまでは、20色相のマンセル色相環を用いた構成について説明したが、本実施の形態においては、10色相のマンセル色相環を用いることもできる。
 図6の円周の外側に図示されているように、10色相のマンセル色相環においては、例えば、20色相のマンセル色相環の5Y(Yellow)と10YとがYとなり、20色相のマンセル色相環の5GY(GreenYellow)と10GYとは、GYとなるので20色相が10色相となる。
 したがって、例えば、上記フレーム構造体4が黄色相Yである場合は、図6の10色相のマンセル色相環に図示されているように、黄色相Y、黄赤色相YR(YellowRed)と黄緑色相GYとが同じ色相または隣り合う色相となるので、Y、YR及びGYが同じ系統の色となる。
 上記のように、10色相のマンセル色相環を用いた構成によれば、装飾用額縁5の色とフレーム構造体4の色とは、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、隣り合う色相または、同じ色相で構成されているため、フレーム構造体4を目立たなくすることができる。
 また、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1においては、装飾用額縁5の色とフレーム構造体4の色とを、無彩色である白、灰、黒などの同じ系統の色で構成することもできる。
 上記のような構成によれば、白黒の装飾用画像などに合う構成とすることができる。
 本実施の形態においては、以上のように、上記フレーム構造体4が有彩色である場合、図6に示すマンセル色相環を用いて、同じ系統の色を求める方式について説明したが、この方法以外を用いることも可能である。例えば、それぞれの色相が共通した色相を有して構成されている場合を同じ系統の色であると見ることもできる。この方式によると、具体的には、赤の同じ系統の色には、赤、赤みの紫、赤紫、紫みの赤、黄みの赤、黄赤、赤みの黄などのように赤を共通した色相として有する色全てが含まれる。
 また、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1において、上記同じ系統の色は、同じ明度であることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、物体表面の相対的な明暗に関する色の属性である明度が同じであるため、上記フレーム構造体4をさらに目立たなくすることができる。
 <装飾用額縁の幅とフレーム構造体の幅>
 図1の(a)、図2の(a)および図3の(a)は、表示領域3の一部である装飾用額縁5の幅W2が、フレーム構造体4の幅W1の2倍である液晶テレビジョン受像機1の視覚可能領域7を示している。
 上記図1の(a)、図2の(a)および図3の(a)に図示されているように、本発明の一実施の形態の視覚可能領域7は、液晶テレビジョン受像機1の耐久性などを考慮した時に欠かすことのできない構成である液晶テレビジョン受像機1の実体のフレーム構造体4と、上記フレーム構造体4の内側に、画像を表示する表示領域3とを有する構成である。
 さらに、上記表示領域3は、絵画や写真などの装飾用画像を表示する領域と上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁5を表示する領域とを有す。
 本発明の一実施の形態の表示領域3に装飾用画像が表示されるときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁5が表示され、上記装飾用額縁5の幅W2は、例えば、上記フレーム構造体4の幅W1の2倍以上となっている。
 上記図1の(a)、図2の(a)および図3の(a)においては、上記フレーム構造体4の上下左右の各幅W1が同一であり、上記装飾用額縁5の各幅W2もその2倍で同一である場合を図示しているが、本発明はこれに限定されず、上記フレーム構造体4の各幅W1がそれぞれ異なる場合にも適用可能である。
 例えば、上記フレーム構造体4のそれぞれの幅が、上フレーム構造体41mm、下フレーム構造体72mm、左フレーム構造体43.5mm、右フレーム構造体43.5mmである52型の液晶テレビジョン受像機を用いる場合において、上記装飾用額縁5の幅が、上記フレーム構造体4のそれぞれの幅の2倍となるように設定すれば、上記装飾用額縁5のそれぞれの幅は、上装飾用額縁82mm、下装飾用額縁144mm、左装飾用額縁87mm、右装飾用額縁87mmとなる。このとき、上装飾用額縁を下装飾用額縁と同じ144mmとしても良いし、4辺すべて下装飾用額縁と同じ144mmとしても良い。
 また、上記装飾用額縁5の幅が、上記フレーム構造体4のそれぞれの幅の1倍となるように設定すれば、上記装飾用額縁5のそれぞれの幅は、上装飾用額縁41mm、下装飾用額縁72mm、左装飾用額縁43.5mm、右装飾用額縁43.5mmとなる。このとき、上装飾用額縁を下装飾用額縁と同じ72mmとしても良いし、4辺すべて下装飾用額縁と同じ72mmとしても良い。
 すなわち、詳しくは後述する表示モード切り換え操作部100が、装飾用画像を表示するためのピクチャーモードとなっている場合、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1の画像データ算出部80によって画像処理された画像データが算出および生成され、上記装飾用画像の周縁部には、予め定められた幅を有する装飾用額縁5が表示される構成である。
 上記構成によれば、装飾用画像が表示されるときには、上記フレーム構造体4と、上記装飾用額縁5との両方が、上記装飾用画像の額縁となる。
 しかし、上記装飾用額縁5の幅W2を、フレーム構造体4の幅W1の1倍以上、例えば2倍とすることにより、フレーム構造体4の幅W1が、あまり目立たなくなる。
 すなわち、上記装飾用画像の額縁としては、上記装飾用額縁5のみが目立って見えるのである。
 したがって、装飾用画像を表示するときにおいて、上記フレーム構造体4をより目立たなくすることができ、上記装飾用画像の額縁をより本物らしく見せることができる液晶テレビジョン受像機1を実現することができる。
 図1の(b)、図2の(b)および図3の(b)は、ピクチャーモード使用時の本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1を壁2に掛けた様子を示す図である。
 図1の(b)、図2の(b)および図3の(b)は、装飾用額縁5の幅W2がフレーム構造体4の幅W1の5倍である視覚可能領域7を示す図である。
 本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1においては、上記装飾用額縁5の幅W2が、上記フレーム構造体4の幅W1の5倍となっている。
 上述したように、上記装飾用額縁5の幅W2を、上記フレーム構造体4の幅W1の1倍以上、例えば2倍とすることにより、フレーム構造体4の幅W1が、あまり目立たなくなる。
 しかし、上記装飾用額縁5の幅W2をあまりにも太くすると、上記装飾用画像の大きさと対比して、額縁の占める割合が大きくなるので、観者は違和感を持つようになり、見た目の美しさが大きく落ちることとなる。
 したがって、上記構成のように、装飾用額縁5の幅W2を、上記フレーム構造体4の幅W1の5倍以下とすることにより、上記フレーム構造体4の幅W1が、あまり目立たなくなるとともに、さらには、上記装飾用額縁5の幅W2があまりにも太くなることを防ぐことが可能となるので、見た目の美しさを維持することのできる液晶テレビジョン受像機1を実現することができる。
 上記図1の(b)、図2の(b)および図3の(b)においては、上記フレーム構造体4の各幅W1が同一であり、上記装飾用額縁5の各幅W2もその5倍で同一である場合を図示しているが、本発明はこれに限定されず、上記フレーム構造体4の各幅がそれぞれ異なる場合にも適用可能である。
 例えば、上記フレーム構造体4のそれぞれの幅が、上フレーム構造体44.5mm、下フレーム構造体81mm、左フレーム構造体44.5mm、右フレーム構造体44.5mmである65型の液晶テレビジョン受像機を用いる場合において、上記装飾用額縁5の幅が、上記フレーム構造体4のそれぞれの幅の5倍となるように設定すれば、上記装飾用額縁5のそれぞれの幅は、上装飾用額縁222.5mm、下装飾用額縁405mm、左装飾用額縁222.5mm、右装飾用額縁222.5mmとなる。このとき、下装飾用額縁を上装飾用額縁と同じ222.5mmとしても良く、装飾用額縁5の幅をフレーム構造体4の幅の1~5倍の範囲内で設定すれば良い。また、装飾用額縁5の幅を観者が任意に設定できる機能を有していても良い。
 すなわち、後述する表示モード切り換え操作部100が、装飾用画像を表示するためのピクチャーモードとなっている場合、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1の画像データ算出部80によって画像処理された画像データが算出および生成され、上記装飾用画像の周縁部には、予め定められた幅を有する装飾用額縁5が表示される構成である。
 また、以上のように、本発明の一実施の形態のフレーム構造体4の幅は、5mm以上85mm以下であることが好ましい。
 上記フレーム構造体4の幅が5mm以下だと強度が不足し、耐久性を有するテレビジョン受像機を実現するのが困難である。
 一方、上記フレーム構造体4の幅が85mm以上になると、美観を損ねることとなる。
 したがって、本実施の形態においては、上記フレーム構造体4の幅が、5mm以上85mm以下であるものを用いることにより、耐久性を備えるとともに見た目の美しさを維持することのできる液晶テレビジョン受像機1を実現することができる。
 <余白画像>
 さらには、図1~3に図示されているように、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1の上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁5との間には、余白画像6が挿入されていることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁5との間に、さらに、余白画像6を挿入することにより、上記液晶テレビジョン受像機1に表示される上記装飾用画像をさらに本物に近い表示とすることができる。
 すなわち、例えば、版画などのようにその周縁部に余白が含まれていた方がより自然に見える上記装飾用画像には、上記構成を用いることで、上記装飾用画像をさらに本物に近い表示とすることができる。
 したがって、上記装飾用画像をより本物らしく表示することができる液晶テレビジョン受像機1を実現することができる。
 また、上記余白画像6としては、例えば、上記装飾用画像が絵画の場合は、絵画紙の余白を表示することができ、上記装飾用画像が写真である場合には、印画紙の余白を表示することができる。
 以下、図7~9に基づいて、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1に用いられる液晶表示装置についてさらに詳しく説明する。
 <液晶表示装置>
 図7は、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1に用いられる液晶表示装置20の概略構成を示すブロック図である。
 上記図7に示すように、本実施の形態の液晶表示装置20は、液晶モジュール30、バックライトユニット50、及び、センサー・制御部70をその主要構成要素としている。以下、順に説明する。
 <液晶モジュール>
 まず、液晶モジュール30について説明する。上記液晶モジュール30には、液晶表示装置20の画面22を構成する液晶表示パネル40と、上記液晶表示パネル40に画像を表示させるための信号を入力する走査線駆動回路44及び信号線駆動回路46とが備えられている。
 詳しくは、上記液晶表示パネル40の表示面42が上記液晶表示装置20の画面22を構成し、さらには、上記液晶表示装置20の画面22は、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1においての表示領域3を構成する。
 そして、液晶表示パネル40には、上記走査線駆動回路44から引き出された複数本の走査線(図示せず)と、上記信号線駆動回路46から引き出された複数本の信号線(図示せず)とが、マトリクスを形成するように配設されている。
 すなわち、本実施の形態に用いられる液晶表示パネル40は、いわゆるアクティブマトリクス型に構成されており、複数の画素を備えている。そして、各画素には、スイッチング素子としてのTFT(Thin Film Transistor:薄膜トランジスタ)素子(図示せず)が設けられている。
 また、上記液晶表示パネル40には、いわゆるカラーフィルターが設けられており、カラー表示が可能となっている。
 なお、上記液晶表示パネル40の構成は、上記アクティブマトリクス型に限定されず、種々の構成を採用することができる。
 <バックライトユニット50>
 つぎに、バックライトユニット50について説明する。このバックライトユニット50は、上記液晶モジュール30の背後に設けられている。そして、上記バックライトユニット50には、発光面62を有するバックライト60と、上記バックライト60を駆動するためのバックライト駆動回路64とが備えられている。
 また、本実施の形態のバックライトユニット50は、いわゆるローカル・ディミングが可能なように構成されている。ここで、ローカル・ディミングとは、上記発光面内において、所定の領域毎に輝度を異ならせることができることを意味する。
 このような、ローカル・ディミングが可能な構成としては、例えば、バックライト60の一部材である導光板を複数個に分割し、分割された各導光板に各々光源を配置する構成が挙げられる。そして、上記各光源を独立に制御することで、発光面内において、輝度を異ならせることができる。
 なお、上記バックライトユニット50の構成は、上記構成に限定されない。すなわち、ローカル・ディミングとする必要はなく、発光面内において、均一な輝度の光を発光するように構成することもできる。また、ローカル・ディミングが可能な構成をする場合であっても、上記導光板を分割する構成以外の構成とすることもできる。
 また、上記光源としては、赤・緑・青のLED(Light Emitting Diode:発光ダイオード)を用いることができる。なお、光源は上記LEDに限定されるものではなく、例えば、冷陰極管(CCFL:Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)等の蛍光管や有機EL等を用いることもできる。
 <センサー・制御部>
 つぎに、センサー・制御部70について説明する。このセンサー・制御部70は、外光輝度をセンシングしたり、そのセンシングした外光輝度に基づいて、液晶モジュール30やバックライトユニット50を制御する部分である。
 具体的には、センサー・制御部70には、主に、外光輝度センサー部110と、上記外光輝度センサー部110に接続された画像データ算出部80が設けられている。
 そして、上記画像データ算出部80には、上記液晶モジュール30を制御する液晶モジュール制御部82と、上記バックライトユニット50を制御するバックライトユニット制御部84とが接続されている。
 そして、上記液晶モジュール制御部82は、先に説明した液晶モジュール30の走査線駆動回路44及び信号線駆動回路46に接続されている。
 また、上記バックライトユニット制御部84は、先に説明したバックライトユニット50のバックライト駆動回路64に接続されている。
 以下、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1において、上記装飾用画像をさらに本物らしく表示することができるように、上記表示領域3の表面輝度を制御する構成と関連した上記センサー・制御部70のより詳細な構成や、その具体的な制御方法について、図8及び図9に基づいて説明する。
 <輝度制御のブロック図>
 図8は、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1に用いられる液晶表示装置20における輝度制御に関するブロック図である。
 上記図8には、先に図7に基づいて説明したセンサー・制御部70の構成が、より詳しく示されている。
 すなわち、上記画像データ算出部80には、上記外光輝度センサー部110が接続されるのみならず、画像に関するデータや、表示モードの切り換えに関する情報の入力が可能なように構成されている。
 <画像データ>
 具体的には、まず画像データ入力部90が、入力画像記憶部92を介して上記画像データ算出部80に接続されている。
 ここで、上記画像データ入力部90は、例えば絵画や写真などの装飾用画像の入力を受ける部分である。
 また、上記入力画像記憶部92は、上記画像データ入力部90に入力された装飾用画像の画像データを記憶する部分である。
 なお、テレビ放送の画像は、通常上記入力画像記憶部92には記憶されない。
 <表示モード>
 また、上記画像データ算出部80には、表示モード切り換え操作部100が接続されている。
 ここで、上記表示モード切り換え操作部100は、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1に用いられる液晶表示装置20の表示モードを、通常のテレビモードと装飾用画像が表示されるピクチャーモードとの間で切り換えるための操作部である。
 なお、上記テレビモードとは、上記液晶表示装置20にテレビ放送やビデオ再生などによる動画像が表示されている表示モードを意味する。すなわち、通常のテレビとして使用する表示モードを意味する。
 これに対して上記ピクチャーモードとは、テレビモードとして使用しないときに、美観の観点から画面に絵画や写真などの装飾用画像を表示させる表示モードを意味する。
 <輝度センサー>
 また、上記画像データ算出部80には、先に図7に基づいて説明した外光輝度センサー部110が、外光輝度読み取り・記憶部112を介して接続されている。
 ここで、外光輝度センサー部110には、液晶表示装置20が置かれた位置近傍の輝度を測定するためのセンサーが備えられている。
 そして、上記センサーがセンシングした外光輝度を、上記外光輝度読み取り・記憶部112が読み取り、そして記憶する。
 以上のようにして、上記センサーで外光輝度を測定し、その測定結果が記憶される。これで、液晶表示装置20の画面輝度の制御の1つの要素となる、液晶表示装置20の視聴環境における明るさに関する情報を得ることができる。
 <画像データ算出部>
 そして、上記画像データ算出部80は、上記画像データ、上記表示モード及び外光輝度情報に基づいて、液晶モジュール制御部82及びバックライトユニット制御部84に出力する画像データや輝度情報などを算出する。
 なお、この液晶モジュール制御部82とバックライトユニット制御部84とは、先に図7に基づいて説明したとおり、各々、液晶モジュール30とバックライトユニット50に接続されている。
 <フローチャート>
 つぎに、上記図9に基づいて、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1に用いられる液晶表示装置20における画面の輝度制御の流れを順に説明する。
 (S1)
 最初、上記液晶テレビジョン受像機1の観者などの液晶表示装置20の使用者が表示モードとしてピクチャーモードを選択することで、フローが開始される。
 (S2)
 画像データ算出部80は、外光輝度のセンシング、すなわち視聴環境の明るさのセンシングがON(外光輝度センサーがON)になっているか否かを判断する。
 そして、外光輝度センサーがONになっている場合には、S3に進み、センシングされた外光輝度を読み込む。
 一方、外光輝度センサーがONではない場合には、S6に進む。すなわち、先に説明したとおり、S6においては、外光輝度以外の情報である入力画像情報から、光源としての上記バックライト点灯データが算出される。
 (S3)
 上記S2において、外光輝度センサーがONであると判断された場合には、上記画像データ算出部80は、センサーがセンシングした外光輝度を読み込む。
 具体的には、上記外光輝度センサー部110のセンサーがセンシングした外光輝度が、上記外光輝度読み取り・記憶部112を介して、上記画像データ算出部80に入力される。
 (S4)
 そして、S4では、上記画像データ算出部80は、入力された上記外光輝度に、変化があるか否かを判断する。
 上記判断において、外光輝度に変化があると判断された場合には、S5に進む。
 一方、外光輝度に変化がないと判断された場合には、バックライト点灯データを再度算出し直す必要がないため、後に説明するS8及びS9に進む。
 なお、上記説明は、ループ処理における2回目以降読み込みに関するものであり、読み込み1回目は、外光輝度に変化ありとして、S5に進む。
 (S5)
 S4において外光輝度に変化があると判断された場合、及び、上記ループ処理における1回目では、入力画像情報と、上記読み込まれた外光輝度とを基にして、バックライト点灯データを算出する。具体的には、画面の輝度が所定の輝度となるようにバックライト点灯データを算出する。
 (S6)
 つぎに、S6について説明する。このS6は、先に説明した通り、S2において、外光輝度センサーがONではない場合に実行される。
 このS6は、バックライト点灯データを算出する点では、上記S5と同様である。ただし、その基となるデータの中に、上記外光輝度が含まれていない点が相違する。
 これは、S6が実行される場合は、外光輝度センサーがONでないために、外光輝度がセンシングされていないためである。
 そして、装飾用画像に応じて予め決められたバックライト点灯データ(輝度)を導き出す。このときの輝度は、テレビモードにおける輝度よりも低く設定される。
 (S7)
 つぎに、S7について説明する。S7では、上記S5又はS6で算出されたバックライト点灯データとの関連において、液晶モジュールに出力される画像(パネル側の画像)が生成される。
 (S8、S9)
 以上S7までのステップにおいて算出・生成されたデータに基づいて、液晶モジュールに画像が表示されるとともに、バックライトユニットにおいてバックライトが点灯される。
 これにより、所望の画面輝度で、画像を表示することが可能となる。
 (S10)
 最後にS10は、終了のステップである。
 なお、本フローにおいては、例えば、画像表示後に所定の時間が経過すると、外光輝度センサーの値を再度読み込み、再度バックライト点灯データなどを算出するような、ループ処理(反復処理)を可能とすることもできる。具体的には、例えば、上記S8・S9の後に、再び、S2に戻るようなフローとすることができる。
 このようなループ処理が可能な構成とすることで、視聴環境の変化を適切に感知し、より外光輝度などの視聴環境に適した高品位の表示を実現することができる。
 また、上記ループ処理においては、外光輝度に変化がない場合に、バックライト点灯データなどの算出を省くことができる。
 具体的には、例えば、先述のとおり、上記S4において、外光輝度に変化がないと判断された場合には、バックライト点灯データなどを再度算出し直す必要がなく、再度の処理を省略することができる。そして、従前のバックライト点灯データ及びLCD表示画像のデータに基づいて、液晶モジュールに画像を表示するとともに、バックライトユニットにおいて、バックライトを点灯させることができる。
 なお、上記S2からS7までのステップは、上述のように、上記センサー・制御部70の画像データ算出部80で実行される。
 また、テレビモードでは、従来通りの画像データの算出を行えば良い。
 また、テレビモードの場合でも、外光輝度センサーを利用して、外光輝度に応じて表示輝度を変えることができるように構成することもできる。その場合、テレビモードにおける外光輝度センサーと、ピクチャーモードにおける外光輝度センサーとを、1つの外光輝度センサーで共用することができる。
 つまり、ピクチャーモードの外光輝度センサーとして新しい部品を追加することなく、テレビモードで使用する外光輝度センサーを兼用することができる。
 <表示領域の表面輝度>
 本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1は、上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域3の表面輝度が50cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 また、さらに、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1は、上記余白画像6が表示された表示領域3の表面輝度が50cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域3の表面輝度が極めて低いので、上記液晶テレビジョン受像機1の観者には、発光色ではなく、反射色を見ているように感じさせることができる。言い換えると、映し出された映像ではなく、紙等に描かれた実物を見ているように感じさせることができる。
 また、さらには、上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用画像の周縁部に表示される装飾用額縁5との間に表示される余白画像6の表示領域3の表面輝度をも極めて低くすることができる。
 上記のような構成とすることにより、上記装飾用画像や余白画像6をさらに本物らしく見せることができる液晶テレビジョン受像機1を実現することができる。
 本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1は、上記表面輝度が30cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 上記構成によれば、上記表面輝度が30cd/m以下であるので、例えば外光輝度が100cd/m以下のように暗いときでも、上記表示領域3に表示される上記装飾用画像や余白画像6が、紙等に描かれた実物を見ているように感じさせることができる。
 したがって、たとえ暗いところであっても、上記装飾用画像や余白画像6をさらに本物らしく表示することができる液晶テレビジョン受像機1を実現することができる。
 すなわち、本発明の一実施の形態の液晶テレビジョン受像機1に用いられる液晶表示装置20では、その表示モードが、装飾用画像を表示するモードであるピクチャーモードであるときに、画面22の表面輝度が、50cd/m以下、特には30cd/m以下であることが好ましい。
 これは、通常のテレビジョン受像機などの表面輝度が450cd/m以上であり、シアター向けなどの用途として表面輝度がおさえられたものでも、200cd/m以上であることと比較すると、極めて低い表面輝度であるといえる。
 なお、上記画面輝度を実現する際、バックライトの輝度は、1500cd/mとした。なお、このバックライトの輝度は、1000cd/mであることがより好ましい。
 また、上記フローチャートに例示した外光輝度のセンシングをともなう表面輝度の制御を行うと、視聴環境、特には、外光輝度に応じてよりきめ細かい表面輝度の制御を行うことができる。
 具体的には、例えば、日本/アジアの視聴環境と、欧州/米州の視聴環境とは異なる場合がある。そして、上記視聴環境の相違に起因して最適な表面輝度が異なる場合がある。
 すなわち、日本/アジアの視聴環境は、一般的に明るく、表面輝度も比較的高い方が見やすい。
 詳しくは、日本などの視聴環境は、照明は直接照明であり、その照明には蛍光灯が用いられる場合が多い。そして、外光輝度は200~300lx程度、画面の正面は100lx程度である場合が多い。
 このような視聴環境において、絵画などを表示する場合には、表面輝度は、20~30cd/mが好ましい。このような表面輝度では、発光体であることを感じさせないようにでき、液晶テレビジョン受像機1の存在感を薄くできる。
 また、写真などを表示する場合には、表面輝度は、100cd/mとすることもできる。このような表面輝度では、ある程度の鮮やかさや、コントラスト感を維持しやすく、液晶テレビジョン受像機1を写真表示装置(フォトビューアー)として使うことに適している。
 一方、欧州/米州における視聴環境では、上記好ましい表面輝度が異なってくる。
 すなわち、欧州/米州の視聴環境は、一般的に暗く、表面輝度も比較的暗い方が見やすい。
 詳しくは、欧州などの視聴環境は、照明は間接照明であり、その照明には白熱灯が用いられる場合が多い。そして、外光輝度(室内輝度)は10~30lx程度、画面の正面は10~30lx程度である場合が多い。
 このような視聴環境において、絵画などを表示する場合には、表面輝度は、10~15cd/mが好ましい。
 一方、写真などを表示する場合には、表面輝度は、50cd/mが好ましい。
 また、液晶テレビジョン受像機1を同じ場所に設置している場合においても、照明の点灯・消灯や、時間などで外光輝度が変化し、それにともなって最適な表面輝度が変化する場合もある。
 そのような場合に、表面輝度が、外光輝度に応じて、自動的に最適な値に設定されるようにしていると、観者は、常時最適な輝度の画面を観ることが容易になる。
 そして、例えば、先に図9に基づいて説明した、フローチャートに基づけば、表面輝度を自動制御することができる。
 なお、以上のように、本発明の実施の形態においては、テレビジョン受像機として、表示領域が液晶表示装置の画面で構成されている液晶テレビジョン受像機を例に挙げて説明したが、本発明のテレビジョン受像機は、これらに限定されることなく、その表示領域が、例えば、PDP(Plasma Display Panel)やCRT(Cathode Ray Tube)、有機EL等、あらゆる表示装置の画面で構成されているテレビジョン受像機を含むものである。
 本発明は上記した実施の形態に限定されるものではなく、請求項に示した範囲で種々の変更が可能である。すなわち、請求項に示した範囲で適宜変更した技術的手段を組み合わせて得られる実施の形態についても本発明の技術的範囲に含まれる。
 絵画などの装飾用画像が本物の額縁を有するように表示させることができるので、例えば、インテリアの一部として美観が要求される大画面のテレビジョン受像機などに好適に利用可能である。

Claims (23)

  1.  フレーム構造体と、上記フレーム構造体の内側に、画像を表示する表示領域とを有するテレビジョン受像機において、
     上記表示領域に装飾用画像が表示されるときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁が表示され、
     上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色とは、少なくとも一色が、互いに、同じ系統の色であることを特徴とするテレビジョン受像機。
  2.  上記同じ系統の色は、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、上記マンセル色相環上で隣り合う色相であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  3.  上記同じ系統の色は、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、同じ色相であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  4.  上記同じ系統の色は、無彩色であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  5.  上記同じ系統の色は、同じ明度であることを特徴とする請求項1~4の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  6.  上記装飾用額縁の幅は、上記フレーム構造体の幅の1倍以上であることを特徴とする請求項1~5の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  7.  上記装飾用額縁の幅は、上記フレーム構造体の幅の5倍以下であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  8.  上記フレーム構造体の幅は、5mm以上85mm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1~7の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  9.  上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁との間に、
     さらに、余白画像が表示されることを特徴とする請求項1~8の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  10.  上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度が50cd/m以下であることを特徴とする請求項1~9の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  11.  上記余白画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度が50cd/m以下であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  12.  上記表面輝度が30cd/m以下であることを特徴とする請求項10または11に記載のテレビジョン受像機。
  13.  フレーム構造体と、上記フレーム構造体の内側に、画像を表示する表示領域とを有するテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法において、
     上記表示領域に装飾用画像を表示するときには、上記装飾用画像の周縁部に装飾用額縁を表示し、
     上記装飾用額縁の色と、上記フレーム構造体の色との少なくとも一色を、互いに、同じ系統の色とすることを特徴とするテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  14.  上記同じ系統の色を、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、上記マンセル色相環上で隣り合う色相とすることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  15.  上記同じ系統の色を、マンセル色相環の10色相のうち、同じ色相とすることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  16.  上記同じ系統の色を、無彩色とすることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  17.  上記同じ系統の色を、同じ明度とすることを特徴とする請求項13~16の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  18.  上記装飾用額縁の幅を、上記フレーム構造体の幅の1倍以上とすることを特徴とする請求項13~17の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  19.  上記装飾用額縁の幅を、上記フレーム構造体の幅の5倍以下とすることを特徴とする請求項18に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  20.  上記装飾用画像と上記装飾用額縁との間に、
     さらに、余白画像を表示することを特徴とする請求項13~19の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  21.  上記装飾用画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度を50cd/m以下とすることを特徴とする請求項13~20の何れか1項に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  22.  上記余白画像が表示された表示領域の表面輝度を50cd/m以下とすることを特徴とする請求項20に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
  23.  上記表面輝度を30cd/m以下とすることを特徴とする請求項21または22に記載のテレビジョン受像機の駆動方法。
