Abstract

Disclosed are: a method for producing a long-chain light-responsive modified nucleic acid without the need of employing any DNA synthesizer; and a light-responsive artificial nucleotide molecule for use in the method. Specifically disclosed are: a light-responsive α-dideoxyribonucleotide   having a light-responsive α- dideoxyribonucleoside as a nucleoside moiety; and a method for producing a light-responsive modified nucleic acid by introducing the light-responsive α-dideoxyribonucleotide into a nucleic acid.
