The disconnect service can be provided by storing data on the network or by storing data on the user equipment. The method of sending disconnect messages to caller comprises storing specific disconnect messages with calling parties information, generic disconnect message for all calling parties in the network, disconnect messages with calling party information, and storing disconnect messages disregarding the calling party information in the user equipment. The method provides flexibility the called party to send disconnect messages to calling party without interruption of called party.

Description

Call Disconnect Services
BACKGROUND Technical Field [001 ] The embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to telecommunication networks, and, more particularly, to caller services in teiecommunication networks.
Description of the Related Art
[002] Conventionally, when a called party disconnects a call, the calling party heart a busy tone. In many situations, a called party may not be able to pick up call from a calling party and still may want to communicate the reason for not being able to pick up the call. K also possible that the called party may also want to communicate some other important information to a particular user or set of users when they call in even though he may not be able to pick up a call from that user or set of users.
[003] The called user can use supplementary services such as Personalized Ring Back Tone (PRBT) and call forwarding as an alternative to call disconnect. Users can use PRBT to announce the inability to attend the call and then disconnect. However, PRBT is a substitute for ringing and docs not offer an appropriate solution to call disconnect. Further, in case of PRBT, when the called party disconnects, a user busy tone would be played closing down the message played.
[004] in a ease the called user has call forwarding active, then the call can be forwarded to a third party. However, (he forwarded party should be aware of handling different calls of the called party. Further, it would be difficult far (he caller if the caller wants to convey any message directly to the called patty. In another case, if the called party has subscribed to call waiting and voice messaging services, the called party has the option of keying in a code to set up a one-way conference call allowing the called party to listen to the message. When a caller calls the subscribed party* then call waiting tones are applied to the busy line and the caller is transferred to voice mail. This allows the called party to make an informed decision as to whether to take the call. However, the caller is entirely transparent to the process of handling the call at die called party end and also the ability of the caller to communicate the importance of tbeir call is limited. [005] Currently there is no method to provide the calling user information at the time of call disconnect based on the calling user profile.
SUMMARY
[006]In view of the foregoing, an embodiment herein provides a method of providing call disconnect services to a called number on a call disconnect by a called party in a telecommunication network by sending a disconnect message to the calling party without explicitly connecting the call. The disconnect service can be provided by storing the caller information and disconnect messages on the network or on the user equipment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
[0023] The embodiments disclosed herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained more fully with reference to the non-limiting embodiment* that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and detailed in the following description. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques are omitted so as to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments disclosed herein. The examples used herein are intended merely to facilitate an understanding of ways in which the embodiments disclosed herein may be practiced and to further enable those of skill in the ait to practice the embodiments disclosed herein. Accordingly, the examples should not be construed as limiting the scope of the embodiments disclosed herein.
[0024] Embodiments herein disclose a method to provide call disconnect services for called party for sending a customized information to the calling user on a call disconnect without explicitly connecting the call. Referring now to the drawings, and more particularly to FIGS. 1 through U, where similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the figures, there are shown embodiments.
[0025] A disconnect service is a supplementary service for the called party number permitting the called party to send caller party specific information to the caller when the called party disconnects the call. The disconnect service can be provided by storing data on the network or by storing data on the user equipment. In network implementation, data is stored for the subscriber on the network and in user equipment mplementation the messages are stored in the mobile instruments of the called party with an application m the user equipment for provisioning the messages. Each of the above can be realized in two ways as storing specific action per calling party number and storing generic action for all calling party numbers. When the called user disconnects a call, the network/ user equipment checks for the message to be sent to the calling party. If any message against calling party name is present in the called party subscriber information, then the message is sent to the designated user for delivering to the calling user.
(0026]FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an illustration of a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) network providing the server with calling party data for call disconnect services in network implementations 1 and 2 in a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. User A 101 who is the originating mobile switching center 103 subscriber calls User B 102 who is the terminating mobile switching center 802 subscriber. Originating MSC 103 determines where mobile subscriber anil is located by querying Home Location Register (HLR) 106 using data facility. If the call is disconnected before the connect and User B 102 has disconnect service provisioned , then a Service Switching Point (SSP) 107 initially responds by sending a query to a central database, Service Control Point (SCP) 108 so that the call can be handled. The SSP 107 uses the Signaling System 7 (SS7) protocols which are responsible for the call setup, management, and termination with other Service Switching Points (SSP) 107. If the network implementation of disconnect service is without called party number, then message number is extracted and me disconnect message is sent to the called party. In network implementation- 1, the MSC network 105 provides Serverφrbt 109 with calling party number. If the network implementation is with called party number, then send query message for called party number. Further, extract message number and send the disconnect message to the called party When User B 101 disconnects the call, this message is sent to User A 101.
[0027]FIG. 2 is a block diagram illustrating the flow of supplementary services involved in network implementation, according to an embodiment herein. The supplementary services for network implementation of disconnect service include user provisioning of the service, user registration, activation of the service, withdrawal, erasure, deactivation and erasure. Provisioning means the user use the disconnect service which can be implicitly enabled or explicitly done by a user. A REGISTER message need to be send to the network for registration of the disconnect service. The number or the message to be sent can be sent during registration and (he message can be text or audio or video. Sending only the message and not the number enables the subscriber to use the same message to many calling parties and also different messages to the same caller. The user can activate disconnect service by sending an ACTIVATE message. When receiving an activation request, (he network activates disconnect service lor the particular message for which the feature is enabled. The subscribed user can withdraw the disconnect service for a particular message by sending a WITHDRAWAL request. An ERASURE request erases ail messages and a DEACTIVATE message disables a message for a particular movement [0028] FlG. 3 is a table showing an example illustrating the data stored for calling parties in disconnect services in user equipment implementation- 1 and network ϋnplemcntation-1 in a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. The explicit messages to the caller on disconnect is stored in the user equipment and messages are stored for each calling party number. An application checks if any message s stored for the incoming number when the user disconnects the call. If a message, for example, call you after the meeting, meet you tomorrow and the like, for calling party exists, then the message is sent to the calling party. In network implementation- 1, the data is stored in the network for the subscriber. When the called party disconnects the call, the network checks fin: the message and finds if any message is to be sent to the calling party. If a message is present for calling parry name or number in the called party subscriber information, the customized message is sent to the called party. The user can be provisioned for the disconnect service either implicitly enabled or explicitly done by the user. [0029]FIO. 4 is a table showing an example illustrating the data stored for calling parties in call disconnect services in user equipment implemenlatton-2 and network implemcntatton-2 in a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. In the implementation, a calling party number is not stored tor a specific message and hence can send different messages can be send to different users or different messages for same user in different point of time. When the called user disconnects a call, an application asks the user to select and send a message from the stored data list to the calling user. If any message exists, the user selects the message and sends to the calling user. The user may or may not select the any message and end the call. In network implementation -2. the data is stored in the network for the subscriber. The user can be provisioned for the disconnect service either implicitly enabled or explicitly done by the user. The same message can be sent to different users or different messages for same user n different point of time. [0030] FIG. S is a block diagram illustrating the application of user equipment mplementation-) and 2 in call disconnect services in a telecommunication network* according to an embodiment herein. The user A 101 calls user B 102 and User B 102 disconnect the call. An application in the mobile equipment of User B 102 comes up and checks for User A 101 number in the database 501. If the application finds a message against the number of User A 101 and recognizes a message need to be sent to die calling party. Further, the selected message with the corresponding text or voice is delivered to User A 101. The user equipment implementation allows the user the flexibility to send one of many messages previously stored in the database 501 without any interruption from User A 101. In user equipment tnφlementation-2, when User A 101 calls User B 102 and User B 102 disconnects the call, an application is generated in the user equipment of User B 102 and asks User B 102 to select one of the messages stored in a database 501. User B 102 then selects a message 504 and further delivers the selected message to User A 101. The messages are stored in the database 501 with no calling party information. If User B 102 does not select any messages from the database SOl in a specified time, then a default message stored in the database $01 is sent to User A 101.
The implementation allows User B 102 the flexibility to select and send one of many messages from the list based on the mood factor. The default message can be kept as empty if the called user docs not want everyone to receive a message and as nothing is elected after the specified time, for instance one minute, then no message is sent to calling party as default iβ empty. A message, for instance. MSG-X needs to be send on he same network resources that are assigned for User B 102. On receipt of an MSG in disconnect, the MSC may not release the resources assigned to User B 102 for data ransmission. The MSG_X is men sent to assigned resources only and as soon as the message is finished the resources gets automatically released.
[0031] FIQ. 6 is a flowchart depicting a method of applying user equipment mplementation- 1 for call disconnect services m a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. The User A 101 calls (601) User B 102 and User B 102 disconnects (602) the call. The application in user equipment checks (603) if any message for User A 10! is stored in the database SOI. If any message is present, then the application m user equipment delivers (604) the message to User A 101. If no message for User A 101 is present, then no message is sent (605). The various actions in method 600 may be performed in die order presented, in a different order, or simultaneously. Further, in some embodiments, some actions listed in FlG.6 may be omitted
[0032]FIG. 7 is a flowchart depicting a method of applying user equipment implementatkm-2 in call disconnect services in a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. When User A 101 calls (701) User B 102 and User B 102 disconnects (702) the call, the application asks (703) the called user, User B 102 to select a message from the list. Further, check if User B 102 has selected (704) a message from the list within the specified time. If User B 102 has selected a message, then deliver (705) (he message to the calling party User A 101. If User B 102 has not selected a message, then sent (706) a de&ult message to User A 101. The various actions in method 700 may be performed m the order presented, in a different order, or simultaneously. Further, in some embodiments, some actions listed in FIG. 7 may be omitted.
[0033] FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram depicting the call flow for registration of call disconnects services in network implementation in a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. The User 801 requiring the subscription sends a
REGISTER message 802 to the network 105 including the numbers for which the network should send message on call disconnect and the message that is to be sent cither in the form of text or voice or MMS. The registration can take place either by the service provider or with an appropriate control procedure by the subscriber. The verification of the disconnect service number should be done before accepting the disconnect service request by checking if the diacotmect-βervice number is within the allowed number range. When the subscriber registers, the network sends REGISTER COMPLETE message 803 in case of acceptance or a FAILURE message 803 in case of rejection of the request. The notification includes the disconnect service number to which the call disconnect service is registered. Further, the User 801 sends an ACTIVATE message 804 to network 802 to activate disconnect services by using the command stored. When receiving an activation request the network activates disconnect service for the number for which the feature is enabled. The User 801 can send a WITHraiAWAL message 805 for withdrawing a service for a particular number or ERASURE 806 for erasing all numbers to the network 802. The network 802 currently disable the disconnect service of a particular number on reception of a DEACTIVATE message 807 from the user 801.The disconnect service is allowed only if the state is provisioned, registered active and operational. For using the disconnect service when a call is disconnected by a user in network implementation of he solution. Mobile Switching Center 105 checks if the user is registered for the service. f the mobile is registered for the service, then Mobile Switching Center 105 performs further functioning.
[0034JIn network rnιplementation-2, the subscriber creates a message, for nstance, NWS-U which can be either text or video. The user of disconnect services then sends activation message to the MSC with the message NWS_1 and the message gets stored in MSC. The user subsequently sends NSW_2, NSW_3 and so on to NSWJO messages. When the called party disconnects the call, the network checks for the message and finds if any message is to be sent to Ac calling party. If a message is present for calling party name or number in the called party subscriber information, the customized message is sent to the called parry. Each NSW X contains information about the message that needs to be sent to User A 101 on call disconnect When the registration and saving of information at MSC 105 is complete and the User B 102 has activated the disconnect service, each time on call disconnect by User B 102, the calling user hear the message NSW-X as customized. The information on which message to be sent to the calling party is provided by sending the information about disconnect in NSW-X to the network. If the User B 101 has not subscribed and activated the disconnect service, then a default message is sent to User A 101. Further, if User B 102 wants a particular message to be sent for User A 101, then die disconnect message is send with the value of message in (he message part of disconnect message that is send from the user equipment on call disconnect* If the instrument of User B 102 supports the function, men User B 102 presses the corresponding value and press disconnect. Then the sent message selects the coded message and MSC realizes that the coded message is to be sent. [0035] FfG. 9 is a flowchart depicting a method of providing the MSC server with calling party data for call disconnect services in network implementation in a elecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. When user A 101 nitiates (901) a call towards User B 102 and User B 102 disconnects the call, the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) network 105 then checks (902) if the call is disconnected before connect or not. If the call is disconnected before connect, then MSC 105 checks (903) if User B 102 is provisioned for disconnect service. Jf the call is disconnected after connect, then normal release (910) of message to User A 101 occurs. MSC 105 further performs a check (904) if die message number is embedded in message received or not noL If the message number is embedded, men the MSC 105 extracts (905) the message number and performs a further check to check (906) if the extract is successful or not If the extract is successful, then the MSC 105 delivers (907) the message to User B 102 and then releases (910) the message to User A 101. Tf the extract is not successful then normal release (910) of call disconnect occurs. If the message number is not embedded, then the MSC 105 queries (908) the message from Service Provider Module (SPM) for User A 102. If the SPM query is successful, then the MSC 105 sends (909) a disconnect message to User B 102 and then releases (910) the message to User A 101. The various actions in method 900 may be performed in the order presented, in a different order, or simultaneously. Further, in some embodiments, some actions listed in FIG. 9 may be omitted. [0036] FIG. 10 is a schematic diagram depicting the call flow for registration of call forwarding unconditional services in network implementation m a telecommunication network, according to an embodiment herein. The User 701 sends a REGISTER CFU message 1002 to Mobile Switching Center (MSC) 105 to register for call forwarding unconditional. MSC 105 routes calls from one network path to another by switching the digital voice data packets. The MSC 105 also provides the information needed to support mobile service subscribers, such as user registration and authentication information. MSC 105 then sends the REGISTER CPU message 1002 to Visitor Location Register (VLR) 1001. The Visitor Location Register (VLR) 1001 is a database that stores temporary information about subscribers. The Visitor Location Register (VLR) 1001 contains all subscriber data required for call handling and mobility management for mobile subscribers currently located in the area controlled by the VLR 1001. Further, VLR 1001 sends the RBQlSTER CPU 1002 to Home Location Register (HLR) 106 which is the central database containing permanent subscriber information for a mobile network. HLR 106 accepts the registration and sends an ACKNOWLEDGE message 1003 to MSC 105 through VLR 1001. On reception of the acknowledgement 1003 from HLR 106. MSC 105 provides complete call forwarding unconditional facility to the subscribed user. [0037] FlG. U is a block diagram showing the Customized Applications for
Mobile Networks Enhanced Logic (CAMEL) flow for improvement in network implementation of disconnect services in a telecojimiunicatton network, according to an embodiment herein. CAMEL is a set of standards designed to work on either a GSM core network or Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network. CAMEL allows an operator to define services over and above standard GSM services/UMTS services. The CAMEL architecture is based on the intelligent Network (IN) standards and uses the CAMEL Application Protocol (CAP) and is effective m allowing the call services to be offered when a subscriber is roaming. An Application Entity is a software framework for providing services to application users. The services arc performed by sending and recievjng CAP messages. To provision CAMEL, CAMEL Subscription Information (CSI) is provided by the Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN) operator by administrator means. The HLR 106 stores CAMEL suscription information (CSl) on a per subscriber basis. The GSM Service Switching Function (GSM SSF) 1101 suspends call processing and takes instructions from the Service Control Function (SCF). GSM Service Control Function (GSM SCF) 1102 contains tbe service logic and provides instructions to continue call processing. CAMEL subscription information identifies if a subscriber requires CAMEL support and which GSM SCF 1101 to be used for the CAMEL support. CAMEL subscription information contains information related to the
Operator Specific Services of the subscriber, for example, tbe Service Key. The user of CAMEL makes the network implemenrion simplified.
[0038]Embodimcms disclosed herein sends messages as per the desires of the called person from the network side.
