Abstract

The invention relates to a method for generating a digital image made of a mosaic of source images (1) representing a target image (2), and to a system for providing an interactive system implementing such a method. More precisely, the method comprises dividing the target image (2) into image sections and, for each section, automatically: selecting (5) a source image (1) using at least one similarity criterion of the source images (1) with said section; sizing (7) the selected source image (1) to the section size in order to form an image adapted for said section; and wherein the mosaic image is created (9) by juxtaposing (8) each of the adapted images. An analysis of at least one characteristic from among the shape, the colour, the contrast, and the brightness of the source and target images is carried out, the similarity criterion being established by comparing the analysed characteristics of the source images with those of the target image section.
