Abstract

The present invention relates to a resin composition for cladding an optical fiber comprising (a) a photopolymerizable oligomer of formula (I) having two or more multifunctional (meth)acrylate group at both terminals, (b) at least one photopolymerizable monomer selected from the group consisting of a type A photopolymerizable monomer having a two or more multifunctional (meth)acrylate group at both terminals, and a type B photopolymerizable oligomer having a two or more multifunctional (meth)acrylate group at any one of the terminals, and (c) a photoinitiator. The inventive resin composition have a low refractive index, a high numerical aperture, and a high impact strength after UV curing, which is useful in cladding a glass or plastic optical fiber.
