Abstract
The present invention relates to an expansion balloon, which balances the pressure level within the radiators used in heating systems. Panel radiator with expansion balloon provides downsizing of the central unit of the heating system upon rendering unnecessary the expansion vessel accommodated in the central unit and enables increase of efficiency. Such radiators downsize boilers and reduce the costs.
Description
PANEL RADIATOR WITH EXPANSION BALOON
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an expansion balloon, which balances the pressure level within the radiators used in heating systems.
Background of the Invention
In heating systems, in order to avoid the harmful effects of the heating and expansion of the water on the system, an expansion vessel is incorporated to the central unit of the heating system. Expansion vessels are used as closed expansion tanks in heating systems and as balance tanks in air pressure tanks. Additionally, expansion tanks maintain the volumetric changes and static pressure of water at the level of usage and compensate the changes occurring in the flow rate of the water.
The European patent application No. EP0080428, one of the state of the art applications, discloses an elastic chamber which is immersed in the heat transfer liquid and which has a connection with outside. Upon expansion of the heat transfer liquid, the said chamber collapses, such that the pressure therein will be equal to the atmosphere pressure, to vacate the volume necessary for the heat transfer liquid which expands in the radiator.
The French patent application No. FR2624588, another state of the art application, discloses a closed chamber with elastic walls immersed in the heat transfer liquid and containing air or another gas therein. Upon expansion of the heat transfer liquid, the gas within the chamber is compressed and vacates the volume necessary for the heat transfer liquid which expands in the radiator, and it protects the radiator from harmful effects that might result from expansion.
Radiators that can be produced with the chambers known in the art comprise large chambers which accommodate the heat transfer liquid. The panel radiators being used nowadays are not suitable for use of these kinds of chambers.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to downsize the central unit of the heating system upon rendering unnecessary the expansion vessel accommodated in the central unit and to realize a panel radiator with expansion balloon which enables increase of efficiency.
Another objective of the invention is to provide downsizing of the boiler and reduction in costs.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The panel radiator with expansion balloon realized to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures wherein,
Figure 1 is the side view of the contracting state of the panel radiator with expansion balloon. D
Figure 2 is the front view of the contracting state of the panel radiator with expansion balloon. Figure 3 is the side view of the expanding state of the panel radiator with expansion balloon.
Figure 4 is the front view of the expanding state of the panel radiator with expansion balloon.
The components in the figures are numbered individually where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Radiator
2. Panel
3. Expansion balloon
4. Connection tube
The inventive radiator (1) comprises at least two parallel panels (2) through which the heat transfer liquid passes and releases its heat to the ambient air, at least one expansion balloon (3) which performs the function of the expansion vessel and a connection tube (4) which provides connection of the expansion. balloon (3) to the radiator ( 1 ) from the bottom thereof by means of a nipple.
Heat transfer liquid passes through the panels (2) consisting of at least two pieces and being located on the panel radiator with expansion balloon. The expansion balloon (3) is connected to the radiator (1) by means of a connection tube (4) and the expansion balloon (3) contracts or expands due to the pressure change resulting in the radiator (1) depending on the increase or decrease of the amount of water in the medium.
When the radiator (1) connected to the installation is filled with water and there is an increase in the system pressure, the expansion balloon (3) is filled with water and expands to reach the same pressure value with the system. When the expansion balloon (3) is filled with water, it expands downwards on the radiator and grows taller. As a result of any decrease in the system pressure, the expansion balloon (3) having a pressure higher than the system pressure contracts and gets shorter, and eliminates the pressure loss that occurs in the system. Thus the damages that might occur in radiators in relation to pressure are avoided.
With the presence of the expansion balloon (3) that provides pressure balance in radiators (1), expansion vessels within central heating systems and boilers are not required. It enables downsizing of boilers and central heating systems and provides reduction in costs.
Claims
1. A radiator (1) comprising at least two parallel panels (2) through which the heat transfer liquid passes and releases its heat to the ambient air, a connection tube (4) which provides connection to the panel (2); characterized by at least one expansion balloon (3) which balances system pressure by performing the function of the expansion vessel, expands as a result of an increase in the pressure of the liquid within the system, and contracts in consequence of a decrease in the pressure.
2. A radiator according to Claim 1 characterized by a connection tube (4) which enables connection of the expansion balloon (3) to the nipple of the panel radiator from the bottom thereof.
