Abstract

The present invention relates to the exact metering of fluids, wherein said fluids may have different viscosities, temperatures, densities, and the like, without the accuracy of the metering achievable by the invention being negatively influence thereby. The device according to the invention comprises at least the following key elements: a bi-directionally delivering pump device (2); a metering tube (3) having a known geometry; an optical detector (4) for determining the fluid level; wherein the pump device (2) is disposed such that the fluid (F) to be metered can be delivered through the metering tube (3), and wherein the optical detector (4) is disposed such that the position of the fluid front (7) of the fluid (F) to be metered can be detected at least at two readout points (8, 8') of the metering tube (3). The invention further discloses a method for the exact metering of fluids, which can be carried out most preferably utilizing the device according to the invention.
