Description

MOBILE TELEPHONE DEVICE WITH INCOMING CALL CATEGORY RECOGNITION
DESCRIPTION
The present invention refers to a mobile telephone device which has an incoming call recognition system.
As is known, many currently available cell phone modules are programmable so as to permit the emission of a specific sound recognition system for each category of incoming call. In substance, the phone owner can create call categories, associating each with a specific list of users and a specific ring.
For example, a first call category is that related to family members or relatives, another call category is that related to friends, another to colleagues, etc. When the cell phone receives a call, it processes it in order to identify the user, the call category to which the user belongs and, for the identified specific call category, the corresponding ring that is thus activated.
Such cell phones have several limitations in the case of their use in a noisy environment, where it is not always possible to hear the ring or distinguish one type of ring from another: for example in traffic, in a crowded shopping centre or in another such place.
It should be added that sometimes, in order to be courteous and respectful of others, in particular in private or public settings such as at work, at the movies, theatre, hospital or another place, it is necessary to disable the ring function, with the result that it is no longer possible to perceive the incoming ring.
Such cell phones are moreover clearly inadequate for people who have a hearing problem.
The technical task that the present invention proposes is therefore that of making a mobile telephone device with recognition of the incoming call category that permits eliminating the lamented technical drawbacks of the prior art.
In the scope of this technical task, one object of the invention is that of making a mobile telephone device with recognition of the incoming call category that is effective even in an extremely noisy environment.
Another object of the invention is that of making a mobile telephone device with recognition of the incoming call category that can be used without disturbing people nearby, so as to not have use limitations, wherever the owner finds himself/herself .
Another object of the invention is that of making a mobile telephone device with recognition of the incoming call category that can also be employed by people with a hearing problem.
Not least object of the invention is that of making a mobile telephone device in which the recognition system of the incoming call category can also create an aesthetic embellishment of the device.
The technical task, as well as these and other objects, are achieved according to the present invention by making a mobile telephone device with recognition of the incoming call category according to claim 1.
It must be noted that an optical recognition of the incoming call category is perfectly efficient even in a noisy setting and is so discrete and respectful that it can be used in any public or private place without causing disturbances. Naturally, the optical recognition is particularly appreciated by people with hearing problems, and if used in combination with recognition also of sound type of the incoming calls, it confers a nearly universal usability to the telephone device, for any category of people. Other characteristics of the present invention are moreover defined in the subsequent claims.
Further characteristics and advantages will be clearer from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the mobile telephone device according to the finding, illustrated as indicative but non- limiting in the attached drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a cell phone in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention;
Figures 2 and 3 show a side elevation view of the cell phone of figure 1.
With reference to the mentioned figures, a mobile telephone device is shown, indicated in its entirety with the reference number 1. The mobile telephone device preferably but not exclusively illustrated is a cell phone, but the same inventive concept is applied to a mobile telephone device of any other kind.
The cell phone 1, as known, comprises a processor with its own internal memory, an antenna for the reception and transmission of the RF telephone signal, a keyboard 2, a display 3 for the information display, a microphone having a transducer which transforms the voice signal into an electrical signal processable by the processor, and an earpiece having a transducer that transforms an electrical signal processable by the processor into a voice signal.
In a suitable seat of the cell phone, moreover, a SIM card is housed that contains, among other things, the owner's identification data, the connection protocol to the telephone provider lines, a telephone number list and the SMS messages.
The cell phone 1 advantageously has a data file containing a list of telephone contacts according to the category to which they belong.
The data file is created on an area of the processor's internal memory and/or of the SIM card memory.
The owner, by means of the keyboard, is capable of personally creating, cancelling or updating the different categories and the contacts present therein.
For example, the owner creates a "relatives" category, a
"friends" category, a "colleagues" category, etc., and associates one or more contacts to each category.
The cell phone also has comparison means adapted to compare the person who makes the incoming call with the list of memorised contacts, and means for processing an optical signal which varies as a function of the category identified by the comparison means for the person who made the incoming call.
Naturally, it is possible that a pre-established optical signal is processed whenever the comparison gives a negative result, i.e. that the person who made the incoming call is unknown, and therefore is not on the list.
The comparison means are preferably composed of software that can be executed by the processor.
Naturally, every person on the list is stored in the data file in the form of a binary code representative of his/her telephone number, such that the person who carried out the incoming call is acquired by the software in the form of a binary code representative of his/her telephone number.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a specific colour of the optical signal corresponds to each call category, for example red light for "relatives" category, green light for "friends", blue light for
"colleagues", white light when the caller is unknown.
The optical signal can have a light intensity modulation.
In particular, the optical signal can have a progressively increasing light intensity, or it can be flashing, or it can be flashing with a progressively increasing light intensity.
In a different embodiment of the present invention, the optical signal can also have a constant light intensity. The optical recognition system of the incoming call can advantageously be present on the cell phone in combination with a sound recognition system of known type, such that the optical signal is simultaneously emitted with an acoustical signal, this too varied as a function of the category of the person who made the incoming call.
The processing means preferably comprise one or more LED which are suitably controlled by the processor in order to process the optical signal requested each time.
In a preferred solution, the LED are extended along the perimeter of the cell phone casing 1, and in particular form a continuous line 4 that extends along the side walls 5 of the casing 6 of the cell phone 1.
The LED can also illuminate at least one window 7 possibly containing a graphic symbol present at at least one of the side walls 5 of the casing 6 so to highlight it.
The functioning of the mobile telephone device according to the invention appears evident from that described and illustrated, and in particular is substantially the following.
The owner of the cell phone receives a call from a person present on the list of the data file.
The comparator compares the telephone number of the person who made the incoming call with the telephone numbers of the people present in the date file, until it identifies one such number. The processor software receives the category of the identified person from the comparator, and based on this controls the processing means for generating the optical signal .
In practice, it has been verified how the mobile telephone device according to the invention is particular advantageous for its high capacity to distinguish the incoming calls in an manner that is immediately perceptible by its owner, so that the latter can decide whether or not to respond - and if he/she doesn't respond, whether or not activate the telephone answering service, or if any other action should be taken regarding the category of the received call.
It is even possible to have only one person for each category, for an identification at this point of a single person rather than a category of people .
The mobile telephone device as conceived is susceptible to numerous modifications and variants, all part of the scope of the inventive concept; in addition, all details can be substituted with technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials used, as well as size, can be of any type according to the needs and state of the art .
