Abstract
Exemplary embodiments of apparatus and method for fat removal using a plurality of needles to deliver energy to fatty tissue can be provided. For example, the needles can include an optical guide, such as an optical fiber, configured to deliver electromagnetic energy to fatty tissue located near the distal ends of the needles that may be inserted into the tissue to be treated. The electromagnetic energy can irradiate and heat the surrounding fatty tissue to causing thermal damage, and the heated fatty tissue may then be reabsorbed by the body. A plurality of hollow needles can also be provided in proximity to the First needles, such that a portion of the heated fatty tissue can be aspirated through the hollow needles.
