Abstract

A package for housing a disc is provided, including a sleeve and a tray, the tray having on opposed edges deformable rectangular steps with ledge locks for receiving an edge of a disc. The rectangular steps relax to a somewhat flattened parallelogram shape to receive a disc within the ledge locks, then form back to the rectangular shape to retain the disc. In one embodiment the rectangular steps are spaced apart along the direction the tray is inserted into the sleeve, and inserting or removing the tray moves the ledge locks to retain or release the disc, respectively. In another embodiment the rectangular steps are spaced apart along a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the tray is inserted into the sleeve, and beveled edges cooperate with the sleeve to close the ledge locks as the tray is inserted and open the ledge locks as the tray is removed.
