Abstract

An oxidation catalyst for bleaching, characterized by containing both (a) a polycarboxylic acid-type high-molecular compound and (b) a copper and/or manganese compound; and bleaching compositions which each contain, in addition to the components (a) and (b), (c) a binder compound and (d) a hydrogen peroxide type compound capable of generating hydrogen peroxide when dissolved in water, characterized in that at least the components (b) and (c) are contained in a granulated or molded state. The catalyst can promote the oxidation effect of the hydrogen peroxide type compound when used even in a slight amount and is excellent in the inhibition of deterioration of the hydrogen peroxide type compound and in the discoloration-inhibiting effect of the catalyst itself, thus being suitable for use in bleaching compositions.
