Abstract

An ultra-resolution process unit (25) includes: a differential image generation unit (33) which generates differential image data; an image update unit (37) which calculates a evaluation value according to the differential image data and updates the high-resolution image data so that the evaluation value is reduced if the evaluation value exceeds a predetermined threshold value; a region extraction unit (35) which extracts a first region containing an inappropriate exposure pixel from the captured image data; and a weighting differential image generation unit (36) which weights the pixel corresponding to the first region of the differential image data. The image update unit (37) updates the high-resolution image data by using a plurality of differential image data items which have been subjected to the weighting. Accordingly, even if the captured image data includes an inappropriate exposure pixel, it is possible to generate highly accurate high-resolution image data in which a shape and a color of the imaged object are accurately reflected. This can reduce the affect of the inappropriate exposure pixel contained in the captured image data on the high-resolution image data.
