Abstract

A machine (100) includes an engine (104) providing an engine torque (402). A first device (336) disposed to consume a portion of the engine torque (402) during operation provides a machine function. An electronic controller (252) is disposed to receive an engine signal (408) that is indicative of an engine operating parameter, determine a torque output capability (312) based on the engine operating parameter, receive a torque request (324) from the first device (322), and compare the torque request (324) with the torque output capability (312). The electronic controller (252) is further arranged to allot the portion of the engine torque (402) to the first device (336) based on the torque request (324) and the torque output capability (312).
