Abstract

This invention provides a method for electrophotographic image formation, which does not sacrifice abrasion resistance of a photoreceptor, can improve the durability of a cleaning blade, can maintain excellent cleaning properties, is less likely to cause a deterioration in image quality, and can perform high-quality image formation over time. The method comprises a development step of forming a visible image on a photoreceptor with a toner, a transfer step of transferring the visible image onto a recording material to form a transferred image, a fixation step of fixing the transferred image onto the recording material, and a cleaning step of removing the toner remaining on the photoreceptor after the transfer with a cleaning blade abutted against the surface of the photoreceptor. The cleaning blade is formed of polyurethane. The polyurethane contains 0.5 to 20% by weight of inorganic fine particles having a Mohs' hardness of 0.5 to 2.0 and a number average primary particle diameter of not more than 10 µm.
