Abstract

A magnetic rolling joint, defined as two magnets (1), attached to an anchor (2) to hold the rotating panels, or magnets (1) inserted into a cavity (3), the surface of which forms a rotating panel.

Description

Magnetic rolling joint TECHNICAL FIELDS
The invention involves a magnetic rolling joint, where rotating panels are held together by magnetic force, allowing these panels to roll over each other without separating.
BACKGROUND ARTS
No rolling joints currently in use employ magnetic force. The technology involved is hinge technology, where the solutions presently available rely on two mutually revolving panels, which are either permanently or temporarily connected to each other. In the case of a permanent connection, the connected surfaces cannot be separated from each other. With detachable hinge connections, one part of the hinge remains on each surface, which impedes handling of the separated surfaces.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
Our invention, the magnetic rolling joint, avoids these problems and in principle consists of two magnets connected to an anchor mounted on rotating panels; alternatively, these magnets are inserted into a cavity inside the rotating panels.
The advantage of the magnetic rolling joint in our invention is that the magnetic connection is easy to separate and the connected panels can roll over each other for a full 360°. One advantage of this is that minimum space is required for storing the panels. The magnetic connection can also be used to open the panels by magnetic force when the electromagnets are used to create like poles, resulting in the panels containing the magnets pulling apart. The reverse polarization of the magnets then restores the magnetic connection. The magnetic rolling joint we have invented is the simplest possible rolling connection, based on the principle of magnetic attraction by the reverse polarization of permanently positioned magnets.
i BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
The invention will be explained in more detail through the following diagrams: Fig. 1 view of rolling magnets attached to an anchor holding the rotating panels in place, Fig. 2 shows magnets inserted into tubular sections which form part of the rotating panels and Fig. 3 shows spherical magnets attached to anchors to hold the rotating panels.
MADE FOR CARRING OUT THE INVENTION
Example 1
The magnetic rolling joint in Fig. 1 consists of magnets I, which are fixed to anchors 2 to hold the rotating panels. These anchors 2 are attached to unmarked panels.
Example 2
The magnetic rolling joint in Fig 2 consists of magnets !, which are inserted into tubes 3_, on to which anchors 5± are mounted to hold the rotating panels.
Example 3
The magnetic rolling joint in Fig. 3 consists of a spherical magnet I, attached to anchors 4, to hold the rotating panels.
Example 4
The magnetic rolling joint is created in such a way that a number of magnets, controlled by an electrical signal that polarizes the magnets as like or opposite poles, are inserted in a socket 3.
The applicability of the invention
The magnetic rolling joint can be used wherever an instantaneous, strong and movable connection is required for separate parts, offering the possibility of frequent manipulation with the individual sections. An example of this might be screen sections, which can easily be placed in any position or separated from each other so only one panel can be used and connected to a surface made from ferro-magnetic metal. The example provided above, where the magnetic polarity is controlled by an electrical signal, can be used to open and close entrance doors. Magnets and electromagnets can be permanently configured in combination to close entranceways even during power cuts. Here the controls are based on the principle that the permanent magnets and electromagnets are of differing strengths, the stronger electromagnet overriding the permanent magnet where, as soon as the electric current is switched off, the permanent magnetic force prevails. The main applications of this invention are in architecture, interior design and construction, as well as in a whole range of other fields and industrial sectors.
