Definitions
- the invention relates to methods for verifying the authenticity of different securities containing identification elements, with preliminary control testing and can be used for determining the authenticity of documents which are assigned individual signs, for example, numbers, bar codes etc.
- One of such methods is the method for verifying the authenticity of banknotes and other financial documents based on measurement of two independent individual space-extended features of the processed document, one of which is determined by the paper production technology and the other - by the polygraphic document printing method [I].
- the document surface is irradiated with two scanning optical beams with different wavelengths.
- the document is showed through with one beam, and the transmitted light flux is converted into the first electric signal and it is formed the first digital code constituting the feature of the texture of paper.
- the other beam is reflected from the document surface and the reflected light flux is converted into the second digital code constituting the printing feature of the document.
- control testing is carried out during document printing performing the same operations and in the same succession as during verification of its authenticity.
- the reference value is saved in the created database of the identification system and is used further on for comparison with the value obtained in the verification process.
- the comparison result establishes the authenticity of document at the value coincidence and counterfeit thereof- at noncoincidence.
- the closest by the technical essence to the claimed invention is the method for controlling the authenticity of documents described in the international application N° WO 9523388 [2].
- verification of the authenticity of document, having at least one individual identifying sign is carried out by means of reading, particularly scanning and/or photographing with the help of optical appliance by a device on base of photosensor, at least of one specified part of the document, containing figurative elements used for identification and an individual identifying sign, recordings, in pixels, of the light flux intensity reflected by the part with figurative elements and individual identifying sign, retention similarly of the recorded information of the original document in the database of the document identification system, use of an individual identifying sign as document address in the database of the identification system, automatic or manual comparison of at least one selected for verification specified part with figurative identifying elements of the verified document with the corresponding part of the original document contained in the database of the identification system, at the same time the part with figurative identifying elements is placed in the same place of the document with respect to the individual identifying sign.
- Each recorded specified part of the document contains two pixels, the figurative pattern thereof is digitized, and each pixel is specified in the shape of bit chain corresponding to the reflected light intensity.
- the achievement state-of-the-art in the high technology field permits to manufacture counterfeit documents with high degree of accuracy, particularly to perform a high-grade counterfeit of any figurative patterns applied on the document, as well as to take into account the intensity of the reflected therefrom light flux.
- the main disadvantage of the described method consists in the insufficiently high degree of certainty of identifying the authenticity of the verified document, limited by the use as identification criterion of distribution of the light intensity reflected by raster points of the figurative pattern, situated on the selected for verification part of the document.
- the given method resides disadvantages peculiar to the earlier described analogue.
- the problem undertaken by the author of the invention consists in elaborating a sufficiently feasible and reliable verification method providing a high degree of certainty of identifying the authenticity of document.
- the undertaken problem is solved at the expense of the fact that in the proposed method for verifying the authenticity of document, having at least one individual identifying sign, carried out by means of reading, particularly scanning and/or photographing with the help of optical appliance by a device on base of photosensor, at least of one specified part of the document, containing figurative elements used for identification and an individual identifying sign, recordings, in pixels, of the light flux intensity reflected by the part with figurative elements and of the individual identifying sign, retention similarly of the recorded information of the original document in the database of the document identification system, use of an individual identifying sign as document address in the database of the identification system, automatic or manual comparison of at least one selected for verification specified part with figurative identifying elements of the verified document with the corresponding part of the original document contained in the database of the identification system, in addition the part with figurative identifying elements is placed in the same place of the document with respect to the individual identifying sign, the part of the document selected for verification is scanned with a resolving capacity no less than 600 pixels per inch, and as
- the individual identifying sign represents a visually accessible for man random or specified combination of printed characters, for example, letters, and/or numbers, and/or bar codes.
- the specified part of the document includes at least part of the printed character of the individual identifying sign and/or part of the adjacent zone, as well as can represent a geometric figure of arbitrary shape placed in the arbitrary place of the document and/or part of the adjacent zone.
- material of the document is used paper, and the longitudinal dimension of the document part containing figurative identification elements is specified much greater than the cross dimension of the paper fiber.
- the document is made in the shape of an identification means representing a complete product, and means constructively joined with the product with the impossibility of separation without being disturbed the integrity of the document, and/or product, and/or lockup.
- the result obtained at the realization of the present invention consists in increasing the degree of certainty of verifying the authenticity of different documents by means of a more simple and reliable method.
- the paper including that used for manufacture of documents, possesses a specific fibrous structure determined by the process of manufacture thereof. Said structure is random for each copy of document, randomly being formed not only the inner texture of paper, but also the aspect of its surface.
- the surface fibers as both the individuality of placement and the uniqueness of its surface shape create a unique three-dimensional relief variable for a certain document from part to part, of any arbitrarily chosen specimen paper, however visually small the part dimension is chosen. To reproduce such a relief by up-to-date methods is practically impossible.
- the pixel dimension constitutes 0,04 mm, which approximately corresponds to the paper fiber thickness upper value which on average is located in the range from 0,01 up to
- the freely used up-to-date scanners provide a resolving capacity in the range of defined numerical values: 75,100,150, 200, 300, 400, 600,1200 etc. pixels per inch, and, for example, the digital microscopes or even the mobile phones with integrated cameras when shooting via the pocket microscopes exceeds by far this minimum level of resolving capacity.
- the proposed method permits to make the best use of small surface parts and as a result the files are small which is fundamentally important in both the creation of corresponding databases and the data transfer over the Internet.
- the claimed method for verifying the authenticity of document is usable, provides a high degree of document authenticity control certainty, and its realization does not need great material, financial and labour expenditures.
- the verified document 1 (fig. 1) comprises a serial number 2, being the identifying sign of the document, placed around it a zone 3, free from printed characters, and a bar code 4. On the serial number 2 there is marked out for verification a previously specified part 5, containing three figures of the number - 8, 8, 5 and the part of zone 3 placed around them.
- the proposed method for verifying the authenticity of document consists in the following. On the paper surface is applied a defined installed for the given document pattern, the required information data and an individual identifying sign, visually accessible for man.
- identifying sign is used a random or specified combination of printed characters, for example, letters, and/or numbers, and/or bar codes.
- the identifying sign is the serial number 2 of the product and/or its bar code 4 (fig. 1) applied by means of the chosen dye.
- the application of dye is carried out by means of an inkjet or laser printer, by manual method or any other known method.
- Such part can be the part 5 (fig. 1, 2) containing the part of the serial number 2 and the part of the free zone 3.
- part can be any part on the surface of the document limited in any way, for example, by a geometric figure of arbitrary shape: circle, rectangle, triangle etc. and/or the part of the adjacent zone.
- the selected part of the document containing a special individual aspect of the surface relief (elements 6 and 7 fig. 2), is read with the resolving capacity of the used device of at least 600 pixels per inch.
- the database of the document identification system created by the manufacturer, it is recorded in pixels the light flux reflected by the given part.
- the identifying sign for example, the serial number 2 (fig. 1).
- the identifying sign is the name of file wherein in the database it is stored the information on a certain document, and the access thereto is provided by different up-to-date communication means, for example, over the Internet with the help of the mobile telephone communications etc.
- its longitudinal dimension must be much greater than the cross dimension of the paper fiber, in order that thereon may be placed at least several fibers.
- said part is situated in the specified place with respect to the individual identifying sign.
- the information about the ways of data obtaining in the database of the identification system must be accessible for the corresponding controlling services and in case of sales of the consumer goods or securities - also for the ordinary consumers.
- a bank operator verifying banknotes received via the Internet according to the serial number from the database of the identification system a copy with the corresponding part of the banknote, i.e. the reference specimen.
- the same part on the verified banknote was read with the help of a digital microscope Webbers 2cn
