Description

Description
A STRAP FOR BAG
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relating 'a strap for a bag' is called generally as 'a shoulder strap' in the industry, which is connected to a bag, more specifically, which is applied to briefcases, luggage, sports bags, handbags, backpacks, Laptop PC carrying bags, and all other bags to pack things in. A strap includes multi-folding structure one or both parts of a strap, and either an elastic material or string enables the folding structure being maintained and the strap being arranged easily, and also the elastic material which is applied to the folding structure of a strap does function to alleviate a weight stress imposed on bag user' shoulder.
[2] Moreover, the effect to use an elastic material to the strap folding structure together is that the strap can limit an excessive extension of an elastic material when things are packed in a bag too heavily, and it prevents defective and excessive up-down seesawing movement of a strap. If the folding part is formed by an elastic material only excluding a strap, it is not possible to control the situation that the elastic part is elongated over limit when things are packed in a bag too heavy, and it causes excessive strap defective and the elastic material loses a restoring force within very short period. Though there is an existing shoulder strap in market to which a single layer of elastic material is applied partly to alleviate the weight stress on user s shoulder, but it causes problems such as defective, loosing restoring-force, and an excessive seesawing up and down. The present invention it to solve all the problems in existing shoulder strap. Background Art
[3] Generally, all bags for man and woman like handbag and briefcase etc are equipped with a set of handle on top and it enables users to carry bags conveniently by hand, and it is equipped with a shoulder strap also so that a user can use it optionally dependant on situation.
[4] That is, a bag is equipped with a handle and a shoulder strap together, otherwise it is equipped with either one separately. Disclosure of Invention
Technical Problem
[5] The convenience in using a strap for a bag is on the point to use a shoulder to carry a bag. But, a strap for a bag has generally long length and it causes intractability or inconvenience. That is, a bag user should roll or fold it whenever he try to put back it inside of a bag, or a user keeps the shoulder strap with being hanged state out from a bag as shown Fig 1. The strap length is too long and it causes cumbersome as well as a pad contamination since it touches a ground.
[6] As a strap for a bag, meanwhile, has no elastic force by itself as it is made generally by non-elastic material like leather or resin-originated textiles, it gives high weight stress on a bag user's shoulder when things are packed in a bag too heavily. Technical Solution
[7] Accordingly, this present invention is designed to solve existing problems of current strap of a bag. It aims at convenient management for a strap of a bag such as easy folding-unfolding function, enhanced portability and packing as it is cumbersome when not used.
[8] Further object of the present invention is to provide a strap for a bag which can be arranged and packed simply in a bag being folded easily when not used though it is used normally when a user carries a bag.
[9] Further object of the present invention is to keep the shoulder pad of a strap from contamination. When a strap is not used and hanged down to a ground, the elastic material or wire string which is applied to a strap functions the strap to be maintained in minimized length by folding the strap and it enables the shoulder pad being stayed away from a ground. It results in eventually to prevent a pad contamination.
[10] Yet further object of the present invention is to provide a strap for a bag which can alleviate a weight stress imposed on user's shoulder by adding an elastic force to a strap through an ancillary method even though a shoulder strap itself should be generally endurable and firm since it sustains a bag in which thing may be packed in heavily.
[11] According to the features of this present invention to accomplish aforesaid goals, it includes a strap which is connected to a bag with either type of permanently fixed or detachable to carry a bag and a bag user grips it by hand or slings it over his shoulder; and an adjustment band which adjusts the length of a strap by folding of unfolding the strap like a pleat skirt;
[12] Above adjustment band is an elastic band, and which enables maintaining the folding state and adjusting the length of a strap being expanded and contracted through the function of a band which is connected to a strap either continuously or discontinuously.
[13] Above strap which is double-sided so that a bag user can sling it over his shoulder; and above elastic adjustment band, each end lengthwise is attached to both sides of a strap by sewing or heat-sealing.
[14] A strap folded by above adjustment band includes either additional sewing line or cutting line on the folding knot for easy folding.
[15] According to other features of this present invention, further a strap, both ends are connected to a bag and a bag a user grips it by hand or slings it over his shoulder, including multi slits formed partly on a strap; and an adjustment band which is installed through above slits and adjusts the length of a strap.
[16] An adjustment band is an elastic band, and both ends of which are fixed to each side of a strap by sewing or heat-sealing; it penetrates above multi-slits continuously and the length of a strap is adjusted by the elastic force of it.
[17] Above adjustment band is non-elastic band and which penetrates multi-slits continuously, and a stopper is installed at either one or both parts of a band; Above stopper adjusts the length of a strap linked to the movement of the stopper by moving along the adjustment band.
[18] According to other features of this present invention, further a strap, both ends are connected to gusset of a bag and a bag user grips it by hand or slings it over his shoulder, including a pair of multi-holes lengthwise in left and right; an adjustment band, which is installed to penetrate the holes, adjusts the length of a strap.
[19] Above adjustment band is non-elastic band of a wire type which penetrates above holes continuously and a stopper is installed at either one or both parts of a band; Above stopper adjusts the length of a strap linked to the movement of the stopper by moving along the adjustment band.
[20] Above wire-type adjustment band penetrates continuously holes upward and downward repeatedly in one direction of holes in left, and then it penetrates continuously holes upward and downward again repeatedly in opposite direction of holes in right. Above stopper controls the length of wire-type adjustment band which is a pair.
[21] A strap includes a buckle which is attached to either one or both parts of a strap regardless whether it is located in left or right part of a strap and it functions to adjust total length of a strap.
[22] A plate-type of shoulder pad is installed in the middle between left and right of above strap in order to alleviate a weight stress imposed on shoulder when a bag is packed in heavily.
[23] A strap storage-pocket is made additionally to a bag to pack in the shoulder strap.
[24] Above strap storage-pockets are applied to both gussets of bag and an additional connection part of hook or buckle type is installed in the middle area of a shoulder strap so that the strap is separated into two parts.
[25] According to other features of this present invention, in the shoulder strap to carry bags using shoulder, a strap which has multi-folding knots; and a strap includes an adjustment band to control the length of a strap which is folded when not used and which is unfolded when used.
[26] Above strap is the type with a length and a width; above band is a pair of an elastic band which is connected to each strap knots from both sides of a strap. [27] The strap has an additional sewing line on the folding knots and the strap is folded to a reverse position of the sewing line. [28] Above band is connected to each strap knot by sewing line and above strap is folded at the knot to a reverse position of above band. [29] The band, which connects each folding knots, includes an additional sewing line in the middle of the band; and the band is folded in the same direction the strap is folded owing to the function of the additional sewing line. [30] The middle of the band, which connects each folding knot of a strap, is extended to the folding knot in the opposite direction and it is attached to it inwardly together by sewing line. [31] A bag which includes top-open pocket for a strap storage on side gusset in left and right; one end of a strap is sewn and attached to a top ending line of the top-open pocket inwardly [32] One end of a strap is attached to a top ending line of the top-open pocket, and wherein the other end of a strap is detachable type by a hook or buckle from a hand grip or a shoulder pad [33]
Advantageous Effects
[34] As described above, the present invention provides following effects.
[35] First of all, even when a strap for a bag is not used, a user doesn't have to roll or fold the strap to pack it in a bag since both the strap folding structure and the elastic band which tends to keep the strap folding state in lower angle enable the strap being maintained with minimized length and the shoulder pad being stayed away from ground even though let it stay by itself, and the strap is unfolded in proportion to a bag weight when not used. It's very convenient to a customer.
[36] Secondly, even though a strap for a bag stays being hanged down to ground without being packed it in inside of a bag or outer strap storage pocket on gusset, it is not cumbersome and causes no pad contamination since the length of a strap is maintained in minimized length.
[37] Thirdly, even when the strap for a bag is packed in a strap storage pocket, it is very convenient for customer as the strap is folded automatically by an elastic band or non- elastic band and a stopper minimize a volume of a arranged strap.
[38] Lastly, a strap for a bag in the present invention alleviates the weight stress imposed on customer's shoulder by dispersing it through the function of an elastic band which acts, being expanded and contracted, in proportion to a bag weight. Brief Description of the Drawings

Mode for the Invention [71] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attaching drawings. [72] A shoulder strap of the present invention consists of a strap (120) which bag a user holds by hand or put on shoulder to carry a bag and it is connected to a body of a bag
(110) to pack in things, and an adjustable band (130) which adjusts the length of the strap (120). [73] Above body of a bag(l 10) means whole kinds of carrying cases like bags of general type to pack in books, personal belongings, etc such as briefcase, traveler's bag, sports bags, handbag, and laptop PC bags as well as all containers which are available to carry a lunch box, a water bottle, etc. [74] Above strap(120) is generally made by leather or fabric, but a material for the strap is not restricted to specific category but includes all materials which is measured by length and connected to a body of a bag(l 10). If possible, in the above strap (120), plain-type strap of double sided is preferred than thin wire-type strap. The former consists of width and length and it is convenient to carry by hand or put on shoulder. It is available to take either way fixing above strap (120) to a bag permanently or making it with detachable type when user prefers it. [75] As the main function of above adjustable band (130) is to adjust a length, it is available to use various materials for it without limitation if it could function properly to adjust a length of a strap (120). And, though the band (130) is shaped having a certain range of width, any width of a band can be used without limitation regardless whether the width is bigger or smaller than that of a strap (120).
[76] Therefore, according to the embodiment 1 as a way to extend a length of a strap
(120), above adjustment band (130) is made of an elastic band which is connected to an upper side or an underside of a strap (120) discontinuously as shown on Fig 3 and Fig 4.
[77] Above elastic adjustment band (130) is connected to upper side or underside of a strap (120) with definite length and width, and only both ends of the elastic adjustment band (130) are attached to a strap by sewing or heat sealing. Accordingly, as the sewing or heat sealing part is pulled by the elasticity of the band (130), the strap (130) against the band (130) is folded inward and overall length of the strap (120) is shorten. On the contrary, when a strap (120) is pulled from both ends in length, the adjustment band is elongated and the strap (120) is unfolded. As such, the strap (120) is adjusted simply like a folding screen or a pleated skirt by the adjustment band (130).
[78] In the embodiment 1 of the present invention, a strap for a bag includes sewing line or cutting line (122) additionally on the folding knot to which folding is expected in order to make clear the folding part of a strap (120). The location folding is expected is, as shown on Fig 4 and Fig 5, the middle of an elastic adjustment band (130) and both ends are connected to a strap (120) , as shown on Fig 4 and Fig 5. In this case, though the number of an elastic adjustment band (130) is in line with the number of a folding, it is natural that the elastic adjustment band (130) is connected discontinuously to a strap considering the condition the band is attached only on one side of a strap (120) but it is connected continuously to a strap considering the condition the band is attached on both sides of a strap.
[79] Meanwhile, like the embodiment 1, in case an elastic adjustment band is connected to upper side or underside of a strap (120) discontinuously by sewing or other ways, complicated working process is required. Accordingly, in the embodiment 2, as it is shown on Fig 6 and Fig 7, another method is to form multi-slits (124) on a certain location of a strap (120) and have the adjustment band penetrate the slits (124) and fix both ends to a strap. So, the length of a band (130) is adjusted by its elasticity and the length of a strap (120) is adjusted by folding upward and downward along sewing line.
[80] As above adjustment band (130) is not necessarily an elastic material, non-elastic material can be used in the embodiment 3, then a stopper (132) which moves along a band which is installed to one or both ends of a band that penetrates slits of a strap (120). The stopper restricts the bounds of an adjustable band (130) which can interlock with a strap (120)
[81] As shown Fig 9, because the size of a stopper is not smaller than that of a slit (124), it functions an adjustment band (130) not to slip from a slit (124). When a stopper (132) is moved in opposite direction after installing it to one-end of a non-elastic adjustment band (130), a strap (120) is shortened against the non-elastic adjustment band (130). The length of a strap is shortened as much as the length shrunken by a strap folding.
[82] According to the embodiment 4 as shown Fig 9, a strap for a bag includes a line of holes (126) lengthwise in left and right based on width without forming multi-slits. Above wire adjustment band (130) is installed to a column in left (or right) passing through the holes (126) in left (or right) of a strap upward and downward alternately and again it is installed to a column in opposite side by passing through the holes (126) in opposite side of a strap upward and downward alternately.
[83] A stopper (132) is added to one or both ends of above wire adjustable band (130) which goes through holes (126) in left and right of a strap, a pair of hole, in order to adjust the length of a strap. Above stopper (132) confines the range of a strap movement by utilizing a friction force at a certain spot or by clinging to an adjustment band (130) with the function of inner coil spring.
[84] According to the embodiment 5 as shown Fig 10, a strap storage pocket (140) to pack in a strap (120) is added to one or both gussets of a bag body (110). Above strap storage pocket (140) has no limitation in shape whether it is type of top-open or having a cover or a zip-opening structure. A pocket cover (144) can not be equipped additionally so that a strap can be packed in directly when a strap (120) is folded with the state of one-end connected to a gusset of a case body (110) and another-end disconnected to an opposite gusset.
[85] Meanwhile, according to the embodiment 6 as shown Fig 11 and Fig 12, when a strap storage pocket (140) is made on both gusset in left and right of a case separately, a connection part (150) can be applied additionally in the middle of a strap to divide a strap (120) into two parts. Above connection part (150) is either of buckle type as shown Fig 11 or hook type as shown Fig 12. It is available to take either way to apply a connection part to both ends separately or only to the middle of one-end of a shoulder pad.
[86] According to the embodiment 7 as shown Fig 13, as there is a limitation to adjust the length of a strap by an adjustment band (130), it requires to equip a buckle (160) for length adjustment. In this case, as adjustment band (130) is installed in the middle of a strap (120), accordingly, it is preferred to be equipped with above buckle (160) in left or right of a strap (120) and it is proper to have it on both sides for a balance in left and right.
[87] According to the embodiment 8 as shown Figl4, a shoulder pad (170) is required in the middle of a strap as the weight of a bag heavily stuffed is concentrated on user s shoulder and it causes a weight stress or pain on shoulder when bag user put a strap (120) on his shoulder. In this case,
[88] Meanwhile, as total weight of a bag can be over 10 kgs when a user packs in books, laptop PC etc, the elastic force of the elastic band (130) should be strong enough. On the contrary, as neither a strap (120) nor a shoulder pad (170) should touch a ground when user puts a bag (110) down, the elastic force of the band should also be strong enough to minimize the length of a strap (120). Accordingly, the embodiment 9, as shown Fig 15 or Fig 18, is to constitute the band (130) reflecting those actual requirements most efficiently.
[89] Though there is no limitation in width of above strap (120) and band (130), it is a zonal type which has a length and a width. Though it can be proper in appearance to reconcile a width of a band (130) with a width of a strap (120) considering an elastic force of a band, the width of a band can be wider than that of a strap. Accordingly, any width of a band can be used without limitation. And it is preferred to attach a band to both sides of a strap (120) rather than one side. Though there is no limitation how to attach a band (130) to a strap (120) whether it is sewing or heat-sealing, it is preferred to apply a separate folding line by sewing (134) to a band so that it can be folded naturally together with a strap as if a sewing line (122) is added separately to a strap (120) to fold it like a pleated sheet or a pleat skirt.
[90] Likewise, a band (130) is attached on both sides of a strap (120). The outer band
(130) is sewn to the folding line outwardly (The part which is overlapped with the drawing code 122), which is sewing line (122), of a strap (120) and the inner band (130) is sewn to the same folding line inwardly from the reverse direction (134). The strap folding structure with a band in and out repeatedly enables the strap (120) being folded in minimum length as long as an external power does not influence on it. On the contrary, as a band is pulled out from both ends of a strap (120) when user shoulders a strap (120) of a bag with things packed in, the strap (120) is lengthened in proportion to a weight of things packed in a bag. Also, as the folding knots (Drawing code 122) of a strap (120) and a band (130) are overlapped at the same location by one sewing line for a connection, it become much easier to make a connection between a strap (120) and a band (130) or other connection works.
[91] According to Fig 19 or Fig 21, though both a band (130) and a strap (120) tend to be bent in the same direction as the former (130) is connected to the latter (120) on the same connection knot by one sewing line, there is also possibility that a band is bent in the opposite direction (outward). So, according to the embodiment 10, a sewing line (134) is formed on folding line of a band (130) so that it can be folded easily and at the same time the band (130) bent in the middle is attached inwardly to the folding knot (code 122) of a strap (120) in opposite side by extending the band to the folding knot in another side. According to this method, a band (130) which is extended to a strap (120) in opposite side assists a strap to be folded easily being connected without effecting on expanding and contracting of a band, and it minimize the length of a strap (120).
[92] Further, it is not necessarily that the connection part of a band (130) and a strap (120) should be the folding knot of a strap (120), as shown in the embodiment 9 or 10 or should be the middle (1/2) between each folding knot of a strap (120) in left and right as shown in the embodiment 1. Though shown is the example that a band (130) is attached to 2/3 location from the folding knot of a strap (120) as in Fig 22 and Fig 23, there is no limitation of a location where a band is connected to a strap. Meanwhile, it is desirable for better production efficiency and product functionality that a band (130) is attached to the folding knot of a strap (120), that is vertex, by sewing or other methods as shown from Fig 16 to Fig 19.
[93] Further, as shown Fig 15 and Fig 22, a shoulder strap is equipped with a hand grip or a shoulder pad (170) which is a detachable type functioning by added connection part (150) to a strap (120). Any type of connection part (150) can be used without limitation and the number of it can be total two pieces, one in left and another in right of a shoulder pad, or one piece in the middle of a shoulder pad. The end of a strap (120) is connected to a strap storage pocket (140) on gusset. In this case, detachable type by a hook or other kinds is available in attaching to a strap storage pocket (140). But as it may cause a strap missing or cost increasing to make detachable type, there is a need to fix it permanently. That is, when the top-edge of top-open storage pocket (140) is under finishing process, it is to sew the end of a strap (120) to inside of a strap storage pocket (140). Its merits are to avoid outward exposure of a trap and to attach it to a storage pocket (140) firmly.
[94] Further, also available is the general type of shoulder strap which is connected to each side gusset of a bag with dog-hook without having a strap storage pocket separately. In this case, as shown Fig 24, a shoulder pad does not trail on the ground and itis managed neatly when it is installed to a bag due to shrunken strap by the folding structure and elastic function of a band. It is just good to keep hanging a shoulder strap on a bag or it can be separated and packed in a bag inside when it is not used.
[95] As illustrated above, the present invention is based on the technology realizing a minimized volume structure of a shoulder strap by folding it in zigzags like a folding screen or a pleated skirt with elastic or non-elastic band which is connected to each or both parts of a strap continuously or discontinuously. An individual who has common knowledge in this industry is able to modify it into various forms within the category of the basic technology of the present invention. [96]
