Abstract
In one aspect, the present invention is directed to an apparatus for unblocking a plumbing blockage, the apparatus comprising: an adapter of content passage between an outlet of a container (such as a beverage bottle) to an outlet of a sink, the adapter comprises: connection means, for connecting the adapter to the container; and an obturating ring deployed at the outlet of the adapter, for sealing the passage between the container and the outlet of the sink while pressing the adapter towards the outlet of the sink; thereby allowing pushing the blockage by the content of the container into the drain piping. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the obturating part of the obturating ring is made of rubber.
Description
AN APPARATUS FOR UNBLOCKING A PLUMBING BLOCKAGE
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to the field of plumbing appliances. More particularly, the invention relates to an apparatus for unblocking a plumbing blockage.
Background of the Invention
Almost every householder is familiar with the problem of unblocking plumbing blockage. One of the common solutions to this problem is using a dissolvent, which has the ability to dissolve such blockages. However, due to the nature of the object, such dissolvent may be dangerous to a human touch, especially children as not being aware to the danger thereof.
Another well-known solution to the blockage problem is the vacuumed cup. A vacuumed cup is a device, which comprises a rubber suction cup connected to a handle. A user places the suction cup on the outlet of a sink, presses the handle down in order to push the air out of the cup, and then pulls the handle in the opposite direction. As a result the blockage is opened. One of the problems involved in implementing this solution is that the blockage is pulled into the sink, and the user has to get rid of it.
Beyond the inconvenience and the non-hygienic aspects of this solution, a suction cup is suitable only for sinks that have a flat bottom, such as kitchen sinks. Bathroom sinks are usually conic, and this solution may not be usable in such cases.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus for unblocking plumbing blockage, which overcome the prior art disadvantages thereof, which have been described above.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the description proceeds.
Summary of the Invention
The following embodiments and aspects thereof are described and illustrated in conjunction with systems, tools and methods, which are meant to be merely illustrative, not limiting in scope. In various embodiments, one or more of the above-described problems have been reduced or eliminated, while other embodiments are directed to other advantages or improvements.
In one aspect, the present invention is directed to an apparatus for unblocking a plumbing blockage (lθ), the apparatus comprising: an adapter (4) of content (fluid, air, etc.) passage between an outlet of a container to an outlet of a sink, the adapter comprises^
- connection means, for connecting the adapter to the container; and
■ an obturating ring (12) deployed at the outlet of the adapter, for sealing the passage between the container and the outlet of the sink while pressing the adapter towards the outlet of the sink; thereby allowing pushing the blockage by the content of the container into the drain piping.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the obturating part of the obturating ring is made of rubber.
Preferably, the form of the obturating ring is conic.
Preferably, the walls of the container comprise pliable material.
In one embodiment of the invention, the walls of the container comprise plastic.
Preferably, the container is a beverage bottle.
The connection means may comprise a thread (6) corresponding to a thread of the container.
The apparatus may further comprise a gasket (not illustrated) for sealing the passage between the adapter and the container. This is useful in the event both, the connection means and the container are not made of rubber.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the adapter connects to the inner part of the outlet of the container, as illustrated in Fig. 8.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the adapter connects to the outer part of the outlet of the container, as illustrated, for example, in Fig. 7.
In one embodiment of the invention, the connection means and the obturating ring are separate entities, as illustrated in Fig. 6.
In another embodiment of the invention, the connection means and the obturating ring are a single entity, as illustrated, for example, in Fig. 5.
In one embodiment of the invention, the connection means comprise elasticity of the part of the adapter, which grasps said container.

Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments
In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the invention. However, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without these specific details. In some instances, well-known methods, procedures, components and circuits have not been described in detail, for the sake of clarity.
An obturating ring is a ring of relatively soft material, designed to obturate under pressure to form a seal. Obturating rings are often found in artillery and other ballistics applications, and similar devices are also used in other applications such as plumbing.
Fig. 1 schematically illustrates an apparatus for unblocking a piping blockage, according to one embodiment of the invention.
The apparatus, which is marked herein by numeral 10, comprises an adapter 4 comprising an obturating ring 12, a sqeezable container 2, and means for connecting the adapter 4 with the squeezable container 2.
In the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 1, container 2 is a beverage bottle, which is available in alsmost any grocery
store. Adapter 4 connects to the berverage bottle 2 by thread 6 which corresponds to thread 8 of the beverag bottle.
After connecting the adapter to a beverage bottle, the user pushes the obturating ring against the outlet of a sink, and while securing the apparatus to the outlet, the user squeezes the bottle. The content of the bottle, whether air or liquid, pushes the blockage inside the drain piping.
In contrast to the suction cup, which pulls the blockage into the sink, according to the present invention the blockage is pushed into the drain piping.
Fig. 2 schematically illustrates an apparatus for unblocking a piping blockage connected to a sink's outlet, according to one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 3 schematically illustrates an apparatus for unblocking a piping blockage during operation, according to one embodiment of the invention.
As illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3, at the outlet of the sink there is installed a strainer 14. The obturating ring 12 is pushed towards strainer 14, threby froming a seal. While pushed, the user sqweezes bottle 2 (illustrated in Fig. 3), and the content of thereof pushes the blockage 28 into the drain piping in the arrow's direction, thereby unblocking the plumbing blockage.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the bottle of the apparatus for unblocking a plumbing blockage is filed with a dissolvent. Thus, a user may combine the operation of dissolving the blockage with the operation of pushing the blockage into to the drain piping.
Each of Figs. 4 to 8 schematically illustrates an obturating ring, according to another embodiment of the invention.

According to this embodiment, the bottom of the obturating ring is relatively large, allowing obturating sink outlets of different sizes. The obturating ring 12 illustrated in
Fig. 4 can be a substitute for the obturating rings of Figs. 5 to
8.
In the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 6 the obturating ring 12 is replacable. Thus, the connection means 46 of the adapter 4 and the obturating ring 12 are separate enttities that can be connected upon use.
In the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 8, adaper 4 connects to the inner part of the outlet of a bottle 8, while in the embodiments illustrated in Figs. 4 to 7 adapter 4 connects to the outer part of bottle 8.

Claims
1. An apparatus for unblocking a plumbing blockage, the apparatus comprising1 an adapter of content passage between an outlet of a container to an outlet of a sink, said adapter comprises :
- connection means, for connecting said adapter to said container; and
- an obturating ring deployed at the outlet of said adapter, for sealing the passage between said container and the outlet of said sink while pressing said adapter towards the outlet of said sink; thereby allowing pushing said blockage by the content of said container into the drain piping.
2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the obturating part of said obturating ring is made of rubber.
3. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the form of said obturating ring is conic.
4. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the walls of said container comprises pliable material.
5. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the walls of said container comprises plastic.
6. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said container is a beverage bottle.
7. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said connection means comprises a thread corresponding to a thread of said container.
8. An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a gasket sealing the passage between said adapter and said container.
9. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said adapter connects to the inner part of the outlet of said container.
10.An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said adapter connects to the outer part of the outlet of said container.
11. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said connection means and said obturating ring are separate entities.
12. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said connection means and said obturating ring are a single entity.
13. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said connection means being deployed at the outlet of said container.
14.An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said connection means comprise elasticity of the part of said adapter, which grasps said container.
