Abstract

An electromagnetic clutch has a worm wheel driven by a drive motor, an armature rotating in association with movement of the worm wheel, a rotor coaxially rotatable with the armature, an electromagnetic coil for making the rotor generate magnetic force and causing the rotor and the armature to be moved and attracted to each other along the rotation axis by the magnetic force, and an elastic member placed between the rotor and the armature, having one side fixed to either the rotor or the armature and the other side in sliding contact with the other, and urging the rotor and the armature in the direction of separating them from each other.
