Abstract
The conventional vehicle detection method and detection device using magnetic sensors require two or more magnetic sensors for detection in the vehicle width direction and in the perpendicular direction. Accordingly, arrangement and adjustment of the magnetic sensors is difficult and require a high material cost, a high application cost, and a high adjustment/repair cost. Moreover, the conventional method and device have a problem that they are affected by a temperature change of an environment where the magnetic sensors are arranged. It is possible to provide a vehicle detection method and a vehicle detection device using a general-purpose electronic compass having a simple structure and not requiring a high application cost or a high adjustment/repair cost. Moreover, this method and device can automatically detect an installation environment temperature and if the detected temperature is out of a predetermined temperature range, heating or cooling is automatically performed so that the vehicle presence/absence can be detected while keeping the electronic compass in a stable operation state.
