Abstract
The present invention relates to a method and device for diagnosing the state of a moving-vane control system for the turbine of a turbocharger equipping an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, this turbocharger being provided with a sensor for sensing the pressure before turbine Pavt. The method involves: a) checking whether one is in a regulating state in which the turbocharger is controlled by the pressure before turbine Pavt; b) periodically measuring said pressure before turbine Pavt; c) for each measurement, calculating the value ΔPavt = Pavt - Pavt_setpoint, where Pavt_setpoint is a setpoint value of said pressure before turbine; d) if ΔPavt is greater than or equal to zero, deducting therefrom a predetermined value, termed “dead band” BM, and retaining the positive values, otherwise replacing with zero; e) calculating the corresponding integral I = f | ΔPavt - BM|; f) if I is greater than a predetermined threshold, diagnosing a defective control state.
