Description

A display device
The present invention relates to a display device for securing sheets constituting a display area for advertisements or post-it notes designed to be arranged facing a support provided in the display device. The display device has a fixed position in the steering handle of a shopping trolley with a fastening means. Said support has at least two channels in the edge area of the same for inserting two opposing end edges of a relatively stiff sheet, these edges being enclosed and fixed into position by insertion in the channel.
In structures of the type in question currently on the market different display areas are today used in a shop for displaying advertising messages on sheets, which are pasted up or placed in picture frames or in various other fastening devices. These devices are adapted to areas which are permanently arranged on non-mobile surfaces such as walls and sign posts and fixed stands, where there is no shaking and no movements. On the outside of shopping trolleys there are vertical areas on its baskets that are used as advertising places, which cannot be seen by the person wheeling the shopping trolley. It is only persons around the shopping trolley who can see these advertising places. The problem here is that these advertising places are not visible to the person wheeling the trolley. The persons wheeling the trolleys, whilst shopping, continuously need to see the advertising places for the day's purchases and they also must have the possibility to be able to tick off a prepared shopping list or make reminder notes on a piece of paper. Moreover, it is difficult to change the sheets on the above-mentioned advertising places and insert new advertising messages. Steps must therefore be placed against walls, tape, pins must be removed, frames taken apart etc. with special tools, steps must be removed and new sticking material must be applied. This is complicated and takes a long time. Advertisements which the customer and the shop owner now need are not always available in a shop today.
One object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks that are associated with the above-mentioned structures by arranging on the trolley steering handle a display device having a support that forms a display area. The support has edge areas which have channels directed to oppose one another for the insertion of a stiff sheet, the opposing end edges of which are enclosed by the channels that fix the sheet into position.
Thanks to the invention a well-functioning display device has now been provided for securing replaceable sheets constituting a display area for advertisements and post-it notes designed to be arranged against an underlying support on the display device, e.g. a disc unit that is fixed into position in the steering handle of a shopping trolley via a fastening means. The support is angled at approximately 20-45° to the horizontal plane towards the head of the person wheeling the trolley, so that the latter is comfortably able to view the display area. The fastening means has a part which is arranged in the underside of the support, e.g. with a screw connection, and another part is arranged in the centre of the steering handle to make space for the hands of the person wheeling the trolley on either side of the support. The other part has a holder which comprises a main part of the tubular formation of the steering handle and which can be locked in a predetermined position with a screw connection. The support comprises an essentially rectangular disc, which has edge areas. Two opposing edge areas each have channels directed towards each other. The sheet consists of a material that is stiff to a certain extent (e.g. a sheet of paper stuck in). The sheet has two opposing end edges for insertion in the two channels directed towards each other, which then enclose the sheet end edges after insertion in order to fix them into position. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the channel consists of two grooves pointing towards each other and arranged in the upper part of the support and its lower part of the support along the two opposing edge areas. The groove has enclosing walls around the edge areas, with a depth that extends in a direction essentially in parallel with the display area to the bottom of the channel. The enclosing walls have in one variant of the invention, contact surfaces, which are structured, e.g. decorated, grooved or bent in order to increase the friction against the end edges, and hence increase the fastening effect of the sheet. When the sheet is inserted in the channel it is slightly bent, its projected width between the end edges being smaller than the distance between the two opposing channels. After the insertion, the sheet projects outwards and the end edges penetrate the opposing channels. The support/channel may also be bent outwards towards the sheet, whereby when the sheet projects outwards and bears against the bent surface, the end edges spring outwards against the contact surfaces in providing extra friction there. In order to be able to release the sheet easily and practically, a suction plug can be pressed against the display area. The suction plug adheres securely to the display area. The suction plus is then pulled by means of a handle in a direction away from the support, the end edges being released from the channel. In order to hide the channels the edge area has a frame structure around the surface that resembles a picture frame containing the channel, which is hollow and has an elongated cavity. In a further variant of the invention at least one part of a contact surface is resilient. This is then arranged in the cavity or on the outside of the frame structure in providing a clamping effect against an end edge. The resilient contact surface can then be used to clamp part of the edge area of further a second sheet, constituting, for example, a post-it note at the top of the first sheet. The resilient contact surface has a fastening means, which is accessible for operating, e.g. by manual force, where the clamping effect can be adjusted and the sheet or post-it note can be released and fastened. In the lower part of the frame structure there is a hole, in which a conically shaped sleeve is provided, which points in a direction towards and across the display area. The internal mantle area of the sleeve has a rubber-like surface for creating friction for fastening a pen inserted in the hole.
The principal advantages of the invention is that the display device is positioned and directed in the best conceivable manner towards the eyes of the person wheeling the trolley, so that person in question always has access to the best information when shopping. The support is easy to write on in a comfortable writing position. The sheets or post-it notes are easily exchangeable for new ones and can still be fixed into position even during the sometimes shaky moving of the shopping trolley. A hollow frame structure hides the channel and therefore provides an aesthetically fine design.
The invention is described in further detail below by means of preferred embodiment examples with reference to the drawings enclosed, in which
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a shopping trolley with a display device, and Fig. 2 shows part of a display device in a vertical section across the display area.
As shown in Fig. 1 and 2, a display device 1 is illustrated for fastening sheets 2, which form a display area 11 designed to bear against a support 3, which is fixed into position in the steering handle 13 of a shopping trolley 5 via a fastening means 4. The support 3 has two opposing channels 8 in its edge areas 7 in the form of a groove 9 with enclosing walls 10 having contact surfaces 12. The groove 9 has a depth 18, which extends to a bottom 19 existing in channel 8. Grooves 9 are arranged in a frame structure 14, which is arranged in an upper part 21 and a lower part 22 of the support 3. The sheet 2 has end edges 6 for insertion into the channel 8, which is designed to enclose them and fix them into position. The frame structure 14 has a cavity 26, which hides and encloses the channel 8. On the frame structure 14 a second channel 16 is provided having a resilient contact surface 20 provided to clamp around a part of the edge area 7 of further a second sheet 17. The resilient contact surface 20 is connected to at least one fastening means 15. The frame structure 14 has a hole 23, in which a conically shaped sleeve 25 is provided and which has an internal mantle area 24 for fastening a pen inserted in said hole 23.
